Who carries a bb gun around when they are 17? There is no doubt he knew something maiicious was about to take place whether he pulled the trigger or not. Glad this kid isn't going to a school I root for. -

?????????? Your bird got shot? Yeah, maybe the kid thought the lady was just a really big bird. He couldn't have possibly been doing something wrong. He sounds like an angel. -
The real question is Marsh able to play a guard/forward position, and can he play at an all-star level from that position? I think people are labeling him as a post, but how capable is he at the 2 or 3 position? Is he just good or is he all-star caliber at the 2 or 3? I haven't seen the kid play, so I have know idea.

Bad analogy. If you are in a house where drugs are being distributed out of and the police bust in and raid the place, guess who's getting arrested. YOU. Regardless if you had anything to do with it. Because it goes a little something like this. If you know a crime is going to be committed and you still hang around, then you are guilty also (maybe to a lesser extent by the law). Just like that kid knew his buddy had a bb gun with him, and I'm sure he knew he was about to do something that he shouldn't with the bb gun. Guilty by association chief. He should have left before the crime went down. He knew what was about to happen. -

Inocent bystander? An incocent bystander is someone that walks by and happens to witness the crime. Not someone who is WITH the guilty party. If you are with someone and that someone shoots and kills someone else, then guess what, you are guilty of a crime too. It may not be murder, but you will still be charged with a felony. Birds of a feather flock together. -
Not really. Just stating facts.

he's a hard worker. I'm sure he'll have success there. -
They return 2 Central transfers and one legit Ozen kid. Should be enough to win district.

You would take Rajon Rondo over 2 time league MVP Steve Nash??? It's a wonder you're not a GM for some pro team with your ability to scout talent. I can understand your point if you take Deron Williams NOW over Nash since one is just beginning their career and the other is nearing the end. But come on, in their primes Nash is better than Williams all day (he's still young). Deron Williams will NEVER be a league MVP, but Nash has 2 of them. And don't give me that ring crap. There are plenty of superstars who never got a ring, as well as there are plenty of hacks that did. Karl Malone and Stockton come to mind as well as Charles Barkley. I guess they all sucked because they didn't get a ring. Bad logic chief. And Rondo??? Hell I'm not even going to argue that. Thats just plain stupid. Come on chili wise up. -

Team first is always stirring the pot. -
This thread has turned into another racial discussion, which seems to be happening a lot lately on a BASKETBALL board. People are arguing different points, but I think everyone agrees that racism still occurs today to every different section of society. However, some may disagree to the extent of racism exhibited. People like DickieV love to use it as an excuse for every perceived injustice in sports (ie. SOC). Whenever something doesn't go your way, you should learn to overcome instead of blame. It's a good life lesson. That's my last take on this topic or any discussion with DickieV in general, as he does not actively listen to other points of view, or admit when he's wrong (ie. all district selections).

Dickie, are you still a coach? If so, where do you coach? I've heard you claim to be part of the Ozen staff, but what does that mean? Do you work with the guards, sell popcorn, or press the uniforms?
-
Sounds like sour grapes to me DickieV. They were pressing so they should have more fouls??? By that logic Ozen should always have more fouls against every team they play in district, since most teams don't press them back. If you fouled, you fouled. Suck it up. The previous poster had it correct when he said if Coach Gamble had a 30-13 lead, he would have iced it. I'm not saying Boutte is a bad coach, because he's not (he's a good coach), but he's not the next coming of Phil Jackson like you sometimes make him out to be. He goes in to 95% of the games he coaches with the most talent (by a good margin). So he's supposed to get the W. These 2 teams were probably pretty equal in the talent dept. but one team got it done and the other didn't. Still a good season by Ozen (avg. for their talent). They have a good team coming back next year, and should be tough to beat again.

Country bumpkin logic? How can someone from the bustling metropolis of PORT ACRES call anyone a country bumpkin. Good lord, Port Acres is the only town I know of where gangstas wear fishing hooks in their hats. And I wish I made that up, but saw it first hand at The Store. You know The Store...as in the only.

Hey Dickie, check out this link I found. If you put in your address in Beaumont, it tells you what school you are supposed to attend. That's a joke. : [Hidden Content] Because we all know that you can attend any school in Beaumont regardless of where you live. You mean to tell me with all that program building at Ozen, they still can't make the playoffs in football or baseball? All you have is hoops? Weak.
-
And NO, Houston Austin does NOT have 500,000 people to pull from. They can only pull from the students in the boundaries of their school. Unlike Ozen, who pulls from the entire pop. of Beaumont. Let me ask you this. Can any kid in Beaumont attend Westbrook if they choose? Or do they have to live in a certain area of Bmt?
-
But let me state clearly that I respect what Kountze has accomplished in basketball over the years because they have done it fairly and within the boundaries of their school. It's not like the city of Beaumont where kids can live right across the street from a HS, but CHOOSE to attend a rival HS within the district. Dickie, this is called a competitive advantage. I would not have a problem with that either, if they had to obey by the rules set forth by the UIL. But somehow they get by with being a magnet school, but not have to live by the rules of a magnet school. And Dickie, enrollment does not matter when you are a magnet school. You must be in the conference (classification) of the largest school in your ISD. If you do not believe me...then call the UIL yourself. I figured a former coach would at least know the rules. I guess you didn't bother yourself with that stuff when you were coaching.
