  6. Will be a tough District to predict again!
  7. BC, OF showdown to host fundraiser Gabriel Pruett Orange Leader BRIDGE CITY — The Bridge City and the Orangefield Bobcats showdown tonight will take on another meaning besides who will be alone at the top of the District 21-3A standings. Links and boudain will be sold for $3 at the game as a fundraiser for 7-year-old Chastin Oceguera. Oceguera was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. The game itself pits two 4-0 21-3A teams in a highly anticipated game. Matt Hicks for Bridge City and Orangefield’s Jace Statum are the expected starters for the game. Orangefield has never beaten the Cardinals with Hicks on the mound yet this year’s Bobcats team is a solid hitting bunch all through the batting order. Hicks is 5-0 on the year with a 1.32 ERA in 37 innings of work. He has struck out 49 batters with only eight walks. Statum is 4-1 on the season with a 2.13 ERA in 26.1 innings of work with 51 strike outs and nine walks. Statum also leads the team with a .550 batting average with 10 doubles, three triples and two home runs and 21 RBI. The Cardinals defeated the Bobcats both times in district last season en route to the District 21-3A title and then eliminated Orangefield from the playoffs in three games in the regional quarterfinals.
