4. Bears pick up critical 9-4 20-4A win over Pirates Gabriel Pruett Orange Leader VIDOR — When the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears baseball team needed Shane Waddell the most, the senior came through. First it was on the mound when the Pirates were rallying. Then it was a big hit to put the Bears back up for good as LC-M handed Vidor its first District 20-4A loss of the year, 9-4, Monday night. Waddell did give up a game-tying single in the bottom of the fifth to Mike Hester yet he finally got out of the jam. Then in the bottom of the sixth Waddell stroked a two-run single into left field to give LC-M a 6-4 lead. The single scored his cousin Ryan Waddell who had singled and Brandon Landry who had drawn a walk. The Bears tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the seventh as Ryan Waddell had a RBI double to center to score Casey Burleigh, Landry added a RBI single to plate Ryan Waddell and then Scott Vaughn finished the Bears scoring with a RBI double to plate Landry. Waddell then had three strike outs in the bottom of the seventh to leave Mike Hester stranded at second after a one-out double. The Bears win did a lot to the district standings as Vidor, PN-G and Nederland are all 4-1 while the Bears sit at 3-2. LC-M as a one game lead over Lumberton and Livingston who are each 2-3. LC-M scored a run in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings to build a 4-0 lead before Vidor’s bats erupted. Tyler Kennon led off the bottom of the fifth with an infield singled before Reid Fults sat down the next two Pirates’ batters. Joe Mojica then ripped a RBI triple before back-to-back doubles by Bubba Maxwell and Hunter Hagler made it 4-3. Mike Hester then tied the game at 4-4 with a RBI single off Shane Waddell to left to score Hagler. Shane Waddell then gave up a single to Trae Hester before recording the third out on a fly ball to short. Vidor would threaten again in the bottom of the sixth as Kennon and Jonathen Neal each singled. Shane Waddell then settled down and got a strike out and fly out to end the inning. Jonathen Allen for LC-M had the game’s first RBI with a single to left in the top of the second to score Shane Waddell who drew a walk. Brandon Landry made it 2-0 in the top of the third with a walk and was able to score on a sacrifice fly by Shane Waddell. Kevin Adams led the top of the fourth off with a walk and Joey Tutt quickly came in to courtesy run for the LC-M catcher. Tutt went to second on a wild pitch and two batters later scored on a perfect squeeze bunt laid down by Allen to make it 3-0. Vaughn’s run in the fourth off a RBI single by Adams made it 4-0 Bears. LC-M starter Kody Smith worked two innings and gave up no runs on one hit with two strike outs and two walks. Fults went 2 2/3 innings with four runs on four hits with two strike outs and no walks. Shane Waddell did the rest and gave up five hits with no walks and four strike outs. Hagler started for the Pirates and went 4 2/3 innings and gave up four runs on three hits with nine strike outs and eight walks. Neal finished the game and gave up five runs on six hits with three strike outs and two walks. LC-M notched a 10-2 win over Livingston on Friday as Shane Waddell gave up no earned runs in 4 1/3 innings of work with five strike outs. Smith  worked the final 2 2/3 innings and gave up no runs and had four strike outs. Ryan Waddell was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and three RBI while Adams was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and a RBI. Burleigh was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. The Bears will play host to Lumberton Thursday in another critical 20-4A battle.

 7.
WOCCISD is running everyone out of the district. I guess it may be time to finally put both arms in that Orange and White t-shirt my wife bought me. :'(
Like i said earlier there will be more than just fans moving on!!!!!!!
 8. LU down late in game 3
 9. Yes he would!!!! People think he may retire if he got the AD job after a year or 2 and that's just not true!
 10.
A move like this is a slap in the face to several people. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Will it encourage Hooks to call it quits sooner out of frustration or will it encourage him to hang around even longer to keep the football program going? Either way, I could see Thompson walking away with Hooks when he goes. With no upper level support and the coaching foundation gone this could start a downward spiral and that revolving door for the FB program.
Since Coach T got passed up AGAIN  >:(  Lets hope Hooks stays.
 11.
Did you ever think that Coach T's "lack of ambition" might be because he is just biding his time waiting for HIS chance to be the head coach/AD of the school that he loves?  He's not going to back stab his friend and boss for the job and he's not going to hurry Coach Hooks to retirement. Also,  I think there is ten years difference in their ages, though one might think that because Coach T has been around as long as he has that they are the same age. What the superintendent did was wrong.  Plain and simple.  He and certain  members of the school board obviously do not like the football program to be successful.  Their actions speak loud and clear.  Too bad the superintendent doesn't go back to Kentucky to be with his family and where basketball reigns.
Good post!!!!!
