  4. kogt.com The Umpires association gave six $1000.00 scholarships to area baseball players. From left to right, Justin Ennis from Big Sandy, Nick Ayers from West Orange, Drew Hazelwood from Kirbyville, Micah Granger of Orangefield, Taylor McInnis of PNG and Trevor Rainey from Woodville. The umpires association has given out $40,000.00 in scholarships to local baseball players in the past 9 years.

  16. They do. In fact some schools right now for the next 4 weeks lift everyday during the Athletic period. Then it usually goes to lifting 3 days a week and running the other 2 days.

The Lamar University men's and women's track teams opened the 2007 indoor season Saturday at the Purple Tiger Indoor Track and Field Classic at the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse, hosted by LSU with the Cardinals capturing five first place finishes. Locally, in the distance medley, the team that included Aaron Brannen of BC were second. Brannen also finished 10th in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:54.56. Michael Gauthier, of BC, placed 12th in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.01.
