  15. Men's Basketball to Hold 1st Annual Tip-Off Dinner October 11 Memphis coach John Calipari will be the keynote speaker at the Tip-Off dinner. BEAUMONT - Lamar University men's basketball will hold its first annual Tip-Off dinner on Wednesday, October 11 at the Montagne Center and will feature keynote speaker John Calipari. Tables and individual tickets are available with all proceeds benefiting the men's basketball program. There is an Underwriter table of eight for $2,500, which includes priority seating, and a Patron table of eight for $1,000. Individual tickets are $75. Calipari, who is the head men's basketball at the University of Memphis, guided the Tigers to a 33-4 record last season. Memphis advanced to the NCAA Tournament Oakland Regional final and finished the season ranked fourth in the final Associated Press poll. In six years at Memphis, Calipari has posted an impressive 148-59 (.715) record and has guided the Tigers to six straight post-season appearances and six 20-win seasons. In addition, the dinner will also recognize Lamar's 2005-06 Southland Conference championship teams, which includes both the men's and women's golf programs and the women's cross country team.
