The LCM tennis team defeated Port Neches Groves 11-8. Boys winners included Conrad Williams, Jude Layne, Derek Anderson, Dean Simpson, and Jordan Baldree. Girls winners were Amanda George, Emily Walker, Kat White, Stephanie Scheer, Christina Fazekas, and Jennifer Collins. LCM will play at Nederland on Monday, September 11.

Cardinal Club Posts Second Straight Record-Breaking Year The 2005-06 membership drive collected over $150,000 and broght in over 300 new members. The Cardinal Club Phone-a-thon raised over $50,000 and brought in 300 new members. Sept. 6, 2006 BEAUMONT - The Cardinal Club posted a second straight record-breaking year, collecting over $150,000 in donations for Lamar University athletics during its 2005-06 membership drive. The results were due, in large part, to the work of volunteers who helped in an earlier Phone-a-thon that raised over $50,000 in pledges and garnered more than 300 new members. "The support of fans, businesses and community leaders has been phenomenal," said Cardinal Club president Frank Messina. "Membership is up nearly 100 percent over two years ago and donations are up nearly 50 percent during the same time period. The community is excited about the positive direction of the university and the athletics department and that is being reflected by the renewed strength of the Cardinal Club." I think its going to be a close one with players like Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, and Carlos Beltran in the National League and David Ortiz, Manny Rameriz, even A-Rod is still in it if he keeps up this hot streak he's got going on in the American League.
