Livingston defeats Jasper By: The Enterprise 09/02/2006 LIVINGSTON - Livingston covered plenty of ground against Jasper on Friday, as the Lions powered behind their running game en route to a 27-14 win in the season opener for both teams. Led behind the running-back duo of T.J. Harrell and Daniel Williams, the Lions broke for 350 rushing yards and three touchdowns on land. Livingston struck first with on a 5-yard run by Williams with three minutes left in the first quarter. One minute later, Jasper quarterback William Ellis broke for a 68-yard touchdown run, but the Lions answered with two touchdowns for a 21-7 lead late in the second quarter. Travon Limbrick scored Jasper's only other touchdown, which came about a minute before halftime, on a 1-yard run. Livingston kicked two field goals during the third period. The Bulldogs were led by Ellis' 144 rushing yards on the night, but a sluggish passing attack produced just 24 yards in the air for Jasper. Groveton 43, West Hardin 0 GROVETON-West Hardin kept things close until Groveton used a 22-point outburst in the third quarter on the way to a 43-0 victory. Groveton took a 14-0 lead into halftime and used a punishing ground game to pull ahead. Putting together a productive night on the ground, the Indians rushed for 460 yards on 40 carries, while West Hardin managed 278 yards of total offense. Quarterback Brandon Letsinger led the Oilers with 128 total-yards on offense and running back Zach Simmons added 49 yards on the ground for West Hardin.

Kirbyville 51, Cleveland 12 KIRBYVILLE - It didn't take much for the Kirbyville Wildcats to score. Less than two minutes into the game, LeKarius Diggles began the Wildcats scoring surge with a 42-yard run to the end zone. That touchdown was just one of many for Kirbyville, which beat Cleveland 51-12 Friday. Diggles, who scored again on a 5-yard run, rushed 10 times for 94 yards and two touchdowns. But it was teammate Pierce Rhodes that led the ground attack for the Wildcats with 121 yards on six carries and three touchdowns. Rhodes had drives of 6, 10, and 43 yards. The Wildcats ended the night with a total of 397 yards on 44 carries. Cleveland was held to 133 yards of total offense.
