Aggies losing a basketball coach!!! The University of New Orleans, in the midst of a major rebuilding campaign on campus and with its public image after Hurricane Katrina, will name Texas A&M assistant Buzz Williams to replace Monte Towe, multiple sources told ESPN.com on Friday. Towe left UNO to become the associate head coach at North Carolina State, under new Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe. For Towe, the point guard on N.C. State's 1974 national championship team who later recruited Lowe, the point guard on the Wolfpack's 1983 title team, the decision was not an easy one. "I love New Orleans, I love my team and I love going to work every day," Towe said. "But I also love N.C. State." Andy Katz is a senior writer at ESPN.com. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report

www.espn.com Frazier to fight Memphis mayor in three-round bout MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Joe Frazier is stepping into the ring again -- against the mayor of Memphis for a fundraiser involving a local charity. The three-round bout between the 62-year-old boxer and 65-year-old Mayor Willie Herenton is set for Nov. 30 at The Peabody hotel and expected to raise $100,000 for the Shelby County Drug Court, an alternative program for nonviolent adult offenders with drug charges. "I'm not taking this event lightly," Herenton said at a recent news conference at City Hall, where the Memphis amateur boxing champ admired Frazier's abilities but bragged about his own skills as well. "My hands move so fast, they scare me sometimes," said Herenton, who regularly exercises and plans to go into training two months before the fight with the help of city police officers. Jack Mayer, a board member with the drug court foundation and a 1972 Golden Gloves champion, pitched the idea of the match to an assistant to the mayor after attending a boxing camp with Frazier in Philadelphia last September. Frazier makes special appearances regularly for charity, but doesn't step into the ring. "This is unique," Mayer said, according to The Commercial Appeal. Herenton says he's not making any predictions about who will win but promised: "You're going to see a good senior citizen who has a great array of skills. You're gonna see skills."

[Hidden Content] London Durham used to watch his cousins play football when he was a young boy. Durham would sit on the porch and watch his relatives play for hours until his father asked if he wanted to play. The Ozen quarterback shook his head up and down with a big smile and so his father immediately signed him up to play in the Pop Warner League. Durham was 5 years old when he began his football career at the center position. "I can't believe it myself," said Durham when asked about playing center at a young age. "I didn't choose the position. The coach of the team put me in the center spot." Durham played center until the age of 6 when the coach moved him to quarterback. "I don't know why he moved me to quarterback, but I am glad that he did," he said. "I did a good job as a center, but I love being a quarterback. I like being in charge and being able to touch the ball and make things happen." When Durham became a quarterback he took his new position very seriously and began to practice non-stop. "I understood early that practice was very important if you wanted to be a good player," Durham said. "I used to play catch with my brother growing up. I also used to watch NFL games to see how professional quarterbacks played." Durham said he understood the game early, and he knew from the start that the quarterback was the leader on the team. "Before I played quarterback, I knew they received the snap and either passed the ball or threw it to a player," he said. "I like being the leader on the field. But at the same time, the quarterback position is tough because you are in charge of the flow of the game. Everything begins with you first." Durham, who helped lead Ozen to the second round of the Class 4A playoffs last season, continues to practice on a daily basis. "During the off season I make sure I get my practice in," said Durham. "I run and lift weights, and I go to 7-on-7 practice." Durham hopes the long runs and the hard practices pay off during his senior year. "Our first opportunity for a title is the 7-on-7 state championships," Durham said. "We have practiced long enough, and I just think if everybody calms down and plays their game we have a chance to win it all."
