Tipoff time for Lamar women's Southland tourney game determined By THE ENTERPRISE March, 8, 2009 The Lamar University women's basketball team will play a Southland Conference tournament quarterfinal against Stephen F. Austin at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Katy, the league announced Sunday. LU (10-6 Southland, 19-10 overall) is seeded fourth in the eight-team tournament. SFA (10-6, 15-13) is seeded fifth. The Lady Cardinals beat SFA 71-52 in their only regular season matchup, Feb. 7 at the Montagne Center. That victory was part of a five-game winning streak. LU followed that streak with three straight losses before Saturday's 67-55 victory at Nicholls State. If LU beats SFA, it will play a semifinal at 2:30 p.m. Thursday against top-seed UT-Arlington (14-2, 20-9) or No. 8-seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-10, 11-18). The championship is 2 p.m. Saturday. All games are at the Merrell Center in Katy. The Lamar men's basketball team failed to qualify for the Southland Conference tournament.
