Swimmers wrap up great season Tommy Mann, Jr. The Orange Leader ORANGE — Another summer has come to an end for swimmers representing the two Orange County swim teams. Swimmers representing the City of Orange Swim Team (COST) and Vidor Area Swim Team (VAST) participated in the Golden Triangle Swim Association’s Championship Meet inside the City of Orange Natatorium on Saturday, July 31. VAST’s Zoe Bahl earned a gold medal with her victory in the Girls 9-10 100 Yard Individual Medley (IM) in a time of 1:33.20, while teammate Joel Schiesler collected a bronze medal for his third place finish in the boys division in 1:35.48. Carly Bessire, also of VAST, earned her first silver medal of the day with a second place finish in the Girls 11-12 100 Yard IM with a time of 1:21.67, as did her teammate Eddie Dyess, who placed second in the boys division with a time of 1:31.99. Lucas Wolfe earned a bronze medal to the VAST total with a third place finish in the Boys 13-14 100 Yard IM in 1:16.99. In the Girls 6 and Under 25 Yard Freestyle race, Presley Alexander of COST won her first gold medal of the day with a time of 22.77 seconds. In the Boys 9-10 25 Yard Freestyle, Joel Schiesler of VAST finished in second place and earned a silver medal with a time of 15.81 seconds, just barely outreaching COST’s Nicholas Anthony who placed third with a time of 15.84 seconds. COST’s Ricki King collected a bronze medal in the Girls 7-8 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 45.58 seconds, while Zoe Bahl of VAST won her second gold medal of the day in the Girls 9-10 50 Yard Freestyle race in 33.49 seconds. COST teammates Jordan Alexander and Kaghan Odom placed first and second, respectively in the Boys 7-8 50 Yard Freestyle. Alexander won gold with a time of 38.66 seconds, while Odom finished with a time of 43.27 seconds. VAST’s Carly Bessire won the Girls 11-12 50 Yard Freestyle in a time of 31.32 seconds, while Rylan Odom of COST won gold in the boys division with a time of 32.40 seconds. Blake LeBlanc, also of COST, finished third in 33.05 seconds. Paige Perales of COST won the Girls 13-14 50 Yard Freestyle in 28.56 seconds, while her teammate Ivy Casteel finished third in 31.20 seconds. In the boys division, Lucas Wolfe of VAST placed first and won a gold medal in 29.85 seconds, just ahead of COST’s Jordan Dodson, who placed second with a time of 32.04 seconds and VAST’s Chase Bunch, who was third with a time of 32.39 seconds. In the Girls 15-16 50 Yard Freestyle, Victoria Richardson of VAST earned silver with a second place finish in 33.88 seconds, and teammate Jessica Shelley claimed the bronze with a time of 36.20 seconds. Kayla Lee, also of VAST, added a silver medal to the team tally with a second place finish in the Girls 15-16 100 Yard Freestyle in 1:16.82, and teammate Cassey Brown added a silver with her second place finish in the Girls 17-19 100 Yard Freestyle in 1:07.82. Jordan Alexander of COST finished in second place, and collected a silver medal in the process, in the Girls 7-8 25 Yard Butterfly with a time of 24.66 seconds. Meanwhile, VAST’s Zoe Bahl added another gold medal to her total by winning the Girls 9-10 25 Yard Butterfly race in 18.89 seconds. Nicholas Anthony of COST finished second in the boys division with a time of 17.64 seconds. COST swimmers swept the medals in the Girls 11-12 25 Yard Butterfly. Shelby Perales placed first, and won gold, with a time of 20.91 seconds, edging out teammate Josie Ordayne who claimed second in 21.24 seconds and Abby Gautreaux, who placed third in 21.46 seconds. In the boys division, Hunter Heidleberg won gold for VAST in 19.45 seconds, while Joshua Howard of COST was second in 21.34 seconds and Connor Alexander, also of COST, was third in 21.40 seconds. In the Girls 11-12 50 Yard Butterfly, Carly Bessire earned a silver medal with a second place finish in 37.16 seconds, and COST swimmer Rylan Odom was third in the boys age group in 37.79 seconds. Paige Perales added a silver medal to her collection last Saturday as the COST swimmer placed second in the Girls 13-14 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 32.62 seconds. Michael Dupre, also of COST, won gold in 33.80 seconds in the boys division. Victoria Richardson of VAST finished third in the Girls 15-16 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 38.82 seconds. Presley Alexander of COST won another gold medal with her first place victory in the Girls 6 and Under 25 Yard Backstroke with a time of 26.82 seconds. In the Boys 7-8 25 Yard Backstroke, Kaghan Odom of COST won a gold medal with a time of 21.79 seconds, while VAST’s Timothy Bahl was third in 26.67 seconds. Nicholas Anthony of COST was first in the Boys 9-10 25 Yard Backstroke race in 19.71 seconds, while Joel Schiesler of VAST finished in second place with a time of 21.03 seconds. Josie Ordayne of COST finished in third place in the Girls 11-12 50 Yard Backstroke, while, in the boys age group, Rylan Odom of COST earned gold in 38.76 seconds and teammate Blake LeBlanc earned silver in 41.40 seconds. Paige Perales claimed gold in the Girls 13-14 50 Yard Backstroke in 35.66 seconds, and teammate Tricia Newman placed third in 37.06 seconds. Michael Dupre, also of COST, won the boys division in 35.50 seconds, while Lucas Wolfe of VAST placed second in 36.48 seconds and Jordan Dodson of COST finished in third place with a time of 38.16 seconds. Victoria Richardson of VAST received a bronze medal for her third place finish in the Girls 15-16 50 Yard Backstroke with a time of 40.88 seconds, while COST swimmer Jim Bean placed third in the Boys 17-19 50 Yard Backstroke in 49.33 seconds. Cassey Brown of VAST finished in second place in the Girls 17-19 100 Yard Backstroke in 1:14.50. Presley Alexander of COST won the Girls 6 and Under 25 Yard Breaststroke in 33.89 seconds, and teammate Ricki King placed third in the Girls 7-8 25 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 30.41 seconds. Jordan Alexander, also of COST, won the Boys age group race with a time of 25.45 seconds, while teammate Kaghan Odom placed third in 28.64 seconds. Zoe Bahl of VAST won her fourth gold medal of the day with a first place finish in the Girls 9-10 25 Yard Breaststroke in 24.95 seconds, and Carly Bessire, also of VAST, earned another gold medal as well by winning the Girls 11-12 50 Yard Breaststroke race in 42.94 seconds. Shelby Perales of COST placed third in 46.11 seconds. Eddie Dyess of VAST won the boys division in 48.83 seconds, while Chase LeDoux of COST was second in 49.12 seconds and Connor Alexander, also of COST, was third in 50.64 seconds. Tricia Newman of COST was third in the Girls 13-14 50 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 44.87 seconds, while Chase Bunch of VAST claimed third place in the boys age group with a time of 43.15 seconds. Abbi Gayle LeDoux of COST was second in the Girls 15-16 50 Yard Breaststroke in 49.76 seconds, and VAST’s Jessica Shelby finished third in 54.39 seconds. In the Girls 13-14 100 Yard Breaststroke, VAST’s Bailey Rogers earned a gold medal with her first place victory with a time of 1:34.65, while Kenedie King of COST was second in the 2:01.39. Kayla Lee of VAST was first in the Girls 15-16 100 Yard Breaststroke in 1:44.10, and teammate Lucas Wolfe won the Boys 13-14 100 Yard Breaststroke in 1:29.07.
