Wow. I'm going to leave the grammar alone. I'm going to leave it alone. Wow. On the other hand, your arguments make almost no sense. We're bigger, so that means you're smaller? A few guys got hurt, so what? Well, with teams of 21-25 guys (like we both have), it's hard to play with that many people injured. We have a few as well - missing our best DL last week (that's defensive lineman - not download or "on the downlow"). Besides, some of the posts you're arguing with are from your fellow kville fans. (oh, and our freshman team is undefeated)
-
Dunno about tomorrow night, but it looks like business as usual in the years to come
-
Last I heard, WO-S freshmen were up 22-0.
-
We moved quite a few up from JV last week, but for the first three games, we suited out less than 24 or 25 total. I'd swear we had 21 at one game. Regardless of our school size, we have one of the smallest rosters in the district. How many of our players play both ways? More than a few - most in some years. You can compare enrollment all you want, but I doubt very seriously that WO-S will outnumber Kville on the sidelines. But even with that tiny roster, we consistently beat quality 4A teams - including the neighboring 4A's district champs every year since dropping to 3A. We went to state last in 4A with an enrollment just SEVEN STUDENTS over the cutoff. I don't want to hear this "enrollment" argument, because you're just setting it up as an excuse in case you lose. We beat teams TWICE OUR SIZE - EVERY YEAR.

We're not just "saying" anything. We've allowed less than 10 points per game, largely against good 4A schools. Kville is allowing 13 ppg against mostly losing 3A teams. The cats have allowed those teams to average 280 yards per game, compared to 203 yards per game given up by WO-S. The most points we've given up in a game was 15 to Bay City (who went on to beat Brenham). Kville has given up 20+ twice. The Mustangs held Bay City's ground game to 18 yards on 20 carries - thanks in large part to six sacks. Kville has a stronger offense than our young group, but the WO-S D, to this point, is without a doubt the better of the two.
-
Look, when several Kville fans post and I refer to them, the only appropriate pronoun is "they." I'd prefer to not replace each and every "they" with "those select kville fans predicting a blowout." That would be tedious. I think most Stang fans also know this will be a close game that can go either way.

See, now I understand. We have differing opinions on this game because we count the score at the END of the game, while you count it at the start of the fourth. Now it makes sense. By our standards, look at the END of the fourth: WO-S 34 HF 7 (shoulda been 0, but oh well) as compared to: Kirbyville 21 Jasper 6 That's a HF team giving up 19 points per game and scoring 28 (versus 34/7 from WO-S) and a 1-3 Jasper team that was giving up 25 points per game before last week, when Kville scored UNDER the average that their D allows. IMPRESSIVE!
-
The poor, non-playoff team that beat Liberty by the exact same margin as Kirbyville (and allowed fewer yards)? Yeah, some miscues and poor execution really dimmed our scoring. Our offense is young and raw, but our defense is better than last year. Last year, we allowed fewer than 10 points per game. This year we're allowing just over 9. We may not blow everyone out like last year, but now that we're playing non-4A schools, our D should shape up even more. If we can hold teams that low, we don't have to be a juggernaut on offense. In 2000, we could hardly score and ended up in the state title game (despite being as outmanned in 4A size-wise as Kville is in 3A) thanks to a DOMINANT defense.

He said "with Green," who is the junior QB who has already verbally committed (A&M?) but has been injured since the middle of the second game. They are a very different team with him. I do think Kville has a shot in this game. Then again, I thought the same thing about HF. Any team on any given night! That said, the Stangs take the game and wipe the field with poopoo (the player). Side question: So, when he has a really good night, are y'all all like, "MAN! Poopoo was all over the field tonight," or "They'll be sorry they ever ran into Poopoo," or "Coach is just running Poopoo right down their throats." Why don't y'all just call him "Deuce?"

There are more than a few "little" things, but the focus on things like the "jumbotron" (which is more like a minitron) and the scoreboard and the sirens and the lights and the music certainly don't scream "powerhouse football." I felt like I was at a dance club. WO-S has none of that crap, and we have won far more against the teams that have whooped y'all - even in recent years. I mean this with all due respect. It's too much show and not enough mouth smashing. Moody could do really well there if he was allowed to stay (or felt welcome enough). I don't see his tenure there lasting more than another two years, though. I really do mean this with all due respect. I think there is too much pressure on Moody from administration and from parents to make them all happy, and I think there's too much focus on silly distractions and goofiness like "BOJO!" to ever be a perennial contender.

In fact, the attitude that one district upset should "earn respect" for a program with a flawless record of missing the playoffs is likely a part of the "vicious circle" that has kept them out of the postseason. If I may exaggerate a bit for the sake of an analogy, it's like a kid who has never been good at basketball but has practiced all summer shooting in his backyard for his city YMCA league. When he finally gets put into a game with seconds to go (for his mandatory playing time), he picks up the loose ball and hits a shot from 8 feet out to win the game. The crowd goes wild! His teammates hoist him up! But then, two weeks later, when he's still droning on and on about the shot and how they used to pick on him for his lack of skills, his teammates' eye sockets are sore from rolling their eyes. He even calls the star player his "twin balla." Now, each time he goes in at the end of the game, he hoists his hands in an awkward "raise the roof" gesture and shouts "Re-speeeect!" The worst part is that he's gotten so cocky that he's trying spin moves and fadeaways that either send the ball careening out of bounds or clanging off the back of another player's head. Then, late at night, he calls half of the members of the team and whines about the fact that no one respects him, even though he won the game for them. Obviously I've exaggerated quite a bit, but it's still true enough. The kid won't have respect until he's hitting shots consistently - regardless when he hits them or who he hits them against. It's even harder for him to gain that respect when he takes that first step toward earning respect and rubs it in everyone's face - then whines when they don't give it up immediately. Keep hitting the shots and people will have no choice but to respect you and believe in you. What do you care, anyway? If it was a great game and win, then who cares?

I did an interview with the former LU AD back in the 90s as a reporter for the Lamar paper, then the Enterprise. College football for LU is a money-losing proposition according to him (Billick), even if they win every regular-season game. He told me, "Even a losing basketball team is less of a financial burden than a winning football team for a smaller school."

Lumberton's record: 4-0 Their combined opponents' records: 2-16
-
Actually, the Lumberton Raiders had: New Caney 28-0 at half (final was just 41-6), Bridge City 28-0 at half, Cleveland 42-0 at half. Really, really different frombeing up 42 at the half (except against 0-5 Cleveland, of course). Impressive, but your scores are waaaaaay skewed. I'm glad Lumberton is doing well, but let's remember that their four opponents this year are a combined 2-16.
-
Without a doubt, our best overall team.

Unless someone loses, I don't see Nederland moving up into the top 10. I realize they (and Everman) are tied for #11, they are behind by 25 points (#10 has 34, the #11s have 9). That's a fairly distant 11th (as compared to 10th).
