  2. We did that about 10 years ago against Jasper... ???
  3. Ditto to Dayton. Here's an oddity from the game: Dayton wins the toss and elects to kick to open the game - not to defer the choice, but to kick. So WO-S got the choice in the second half and opted to receive (obviously). That was the drive that turned it around. I bet there were some heads shaking on the other side...
  4. Those poor guys... bless their hearts...
  5. I'm not going to go into the shocking things I saw during the fight (including from a Bronc coach). I will just say that it was not a result of WO-S frustration, but of a Dayton tackler adding a few haymakers to a tackle. It happened directly in front of me. Let's move on. WO-S lost their "only player" to the ejections and lost their QB for a good 10 plays as well - 10 plays that were still dominated by WO-S. Depauldrick Garrett is one of the top players in the area - voted "best player in SETX" on the frontpage poll on this site. He's not what "makes our offense go," he IS our offense - like Green is Dayton's. He also is a factor on defense. DPG getting ejected was the equivalent of Green getting ejected. Losing Gable might have hurt Dayton, but not NEARLY as much as Garrett getting booted hurt WO-S. In fact, Gable had done very, very little up to his ejection. Green was the one tearing us apart in the first half - not Gable. He seemed to really get flustered once WO-S yanked the momentum away in the third.
  6. All eyes were on Garrett coming into this game. Enter Ortavious Hypolite at QB. Also, for much of the game, Garrett's little brother, Quintavious, was picking up first downs in his brother's absence, and Chase Adams, a DE, spelled Hippo at QB quite a bit. We have few backups, but tonight, they helped us win this game.
  7. They looked pretty strong, but once Hypolite (new WO-S QB) shifted it into gear and the D stepped up, they seemed back on their heels. Green (Dayton QB) ran all over us in the first half, but the D shut it down in the second. They definitely are AS strong as last year. I don't know if they're strongER.
  8. What types of injuries? Prognosis?
  9. I think that was the final.
  10. Final yardage stats were WO-S 256, Dayton 199. Green ended up with 143 total yards - 65 passing and 78 rushing. Hypolite ended up with 173 total yards - 62 passing and 111 rushing. Garrett getting booted sucked, but it was a big help in getting Hypolite to step up into a starring role - and he did.
  11. What a GREAT game! I was proud of the Mustangs for rising to the occasion - and MUCH of the game with a backup in at RB (for our best player) and quite a bit with a backup QB as well. GO STANGS!
  12. "Closest" that I can remember. :-[
  13. Closest was probably Silsbee's Jay McGuire well over 10 years ago, right?
  14. I felt bad for Cy-Fair #59. "Remember when you were on state-wide TV? Remember? You puked a bucketfull without breaking stride while the camera was focused on you alone? Remember?"
  15. Kville will win easily. Balla ran away once he was "outed." :
  16. Isn't this the article that lists the formula at the end? We calculated it, and both PN-G and WO-S would have been in the top 20. It's hard to compare some schools, though. Some of those on the list have been playing for almost 100 years. We've been playing for 29. I don't agree with a lot of the selections.
  17. Joey Byerly ... but also, Kendall Cleveland, who had a pretty good career as RB at LSU before he was injured. He was QB for the better part of a season his junior year. ... Kelly Robertson was starting QB at UH a few years back.
  18. I think it will be a tough game for both sides, but I hope that when Garrett is toting the ball, Dayton will find their hands empty most of the night.
  19. I'm confused - but here's one: Name all of the WO-S QBs to play football at the NCAA Division 1 level (semi-trick question).
  20. Wow! Rolling eyes and sarcasm! I'd LOVE to hang out! :-\
  21. LOVE the stadium.... HAAAAAAAAAAATE the parking! It took two hours to get out of the lot last year.
