  1. Gonna be close. If it's close, it won't hurt my feelings to lose to Dayton.
  2. No doubt. Beat the D up with the big guy, then put in the quick one when they are too sore to keep up.
  3. It's getting to be really big - either the spread or the Wing T (or some variation of). I know it works, but there's just so much trickery that I can take and still feel like I watched a football game. Misdirection and slight of hand is what dime-store corner magicians do. I want to see some ballcarriers run through defenders or receivers burn their men with pure speed. Trickery is fun a few times a game, but as an all-game, every-play thing, blechh.
  4. Running that Wing-T trickery-style gets you a lot of yards early on, but doesn't usually work consistently once the D figures you out. Vidor might make some noise, but won't make the playoffs.
  5. Ned has a really good program going right now, but if there is a team in that district that qualifies as "best tradition school," I would say PN-G.
  6. As a private school, they can legally recruit the best talent available. WO-S would have a hard time with them, so I have to go w/ St. Pius (no offense to Vidor).
  7. Dayton and Central will be ugly. LC will be good this year, too. Other than that, though, they have a chance. The run was strong tonight, but the Pirates put up several passes and didn't complete many.
  8. Hard to say. The running game looked very strong, but I don't think they completed any passes. The D obviously struggled to stop WO-S, and it was a sloppy game penalty-wise all around.
  9. I don't know the name, but we all will soon. He was a hoss.
  10. St. Pius by a lot.
  11. It wasn't too bad at all. They gave up a few big runs, but just one score - and probably racked up 300 yards on the ground themselves.
  12. Really, when it comes to "name recognition," it begins and ends with Odessa Permian. Period.
  13. Compared to HP, WO-S has two state titles, two runners up, BEST winning percentage all time - almost 80 percent per decade. We have only been around for three decades. When I think of the schools that define TX HS football, HP is not one of them. No offense, just an observation.
  14. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...
  15. My heart says Stangs, Tigers, Dawgs. My head keeps flip-flopping.
  16. Was he the Vidor kid who fumbled out of the end zone? I didn't see anyone carted off or anything.
  17. Apparently we are missing something.
  18. STOP THE PRESSES! WE'VE BEEN ROBBED! I did the math, and WO-S should have been in the 20-spot (unless the team had to have been around since a certain time. WO-S: State titles - 2 Runners up - 2 District titles - 16 total, 15 unshared/outright Even if you disregard the shared district title in 86, it comes out to 75 points. The team at #20, Midland Lee, totalled 74. And our school is at least 12 years younger than all others on the list. Booya!
  19. Although I'm not QUITE as confident as 84, I also have to disagree with this quote. Here are our scores from LC-M/WO-S games: 35-14 WO-S 30-10 WO-S 21-7 WO-S 42-7 WO-S 53-0 WO-S 28-0 WO-S 42-7 WO-S 15-3 WO-S 27-6 WO-S 27-7 WO-S 37-6 LC-M 42-0 WO-S 35-14 WO-S 21-13 WO-S 57-6 WO-S 42-7 WO-S 56-0 WO-S 28-14 WO-S 15-0 WO-S 42-7 WO-S 13-9 WO-S 27-0 LC-M 7-0 WO-S For the entire course of our existence as a team, the record averages out to 30-7 in favor of WO-S - which is not much fun to watch unless you hate the bears.
  20. Here's a better answer about current streaks, (including ONLY 5A AND 4A) thanks to the incredible WOS87: Calallen - 22 years La Marque - 17 years Waxahachie - 17 years Dallas Carter - 17 years Katy - 16 years Stephenville - 14 years Gregory-Portland - 13 years Galena Park - 13 years Dallas Skyline - 13 years Austin Westlake - 13 years The Woodlands - 12 years Highland Park - 12 years De Soto - 11 years Ennis - 11 years Dayton - 11 years Wolfforth Frenship - 11 years El Paso Riverside - 11 years Nederland - 11 years
  21. It could happen, but would really only be an upset based on school name. WO-S is young and "reloading," while LC is experienced but unproven. Honestly, LC was better in the WO-S game last year AFTER Driver was out, but I'm sure he's made gains.
  22. It's more about the big crowd than the "strong tradition." PN-G brings in pretty big crowds, but as far as on-the-field tradition, I'd put us up at the top locally with Newton and up there with anyone in the state. PN-G/WO-S is always a great game, but we've won the last 7 or 8 straight. I think it's great for PN-G and Nederland to get a chance to play there, but if they were really interested in "showcasing" teams, they could easily lure SLC and Permian or Texarkana to fill those slots.
