  1. Back in 2000 WO-S's Jeff Thibodeaux turned in an awesome game in the semifinals against Calallen. He returned the opening kickoff to the 50, then caught a 50-yard TD pass on the first play from scrimmage. Among other feats in that game, he also returned a fumble about 35 yards for a TD and then picked off the Calallen QB to seal the game (one of two INTs) and move on to the state championship.
  2. I'm not sure either, but he does play some DB. Our best player usually plays both ways, as do most of our players. Beasley played QB, CB, WR and KR/PR. Earl played RB, WR, CB, KR, PR. Remember, we rarely suit up even 25 players, so playing both ways - often starting both ways - is more the norm than the exception.
  3. Gotta go with Garrett. Dayton has a few also.
  4. You don't have to bribe Sterling. Just play them straight up and you should win.
  5. Kerry Franks? He's fine at A&M, where he has a chance to be a star this year. A&M just might beat UT again this year, anyway.
  6. Hmmm... Weird. I thought the refs had the final say in calling a game in obviously unsafe conditions. But I guess if you're desperate enough to beat a team, you're willing to lose a few players/fans to lightning (I was there - it was BAD). I also can't figure out how it affected the outcome, but honestly I had forgotten about that game. No BC nightmares here in WO. Then again, one of my all-time performances was QB Eric Anderson against BC in 94 or 95 at BC, when he ran for 210 yards on nine carries.
  7. I can never like "cardinal" team uniforms, because they're all practically the same.
  8. Hippo is the one for me. His play will have a HUGE effect on our record this year.
  9. Other than the uniforms of the Kings of Southeast Texas Football, WO-S , I've always been partial to the old-school PN-G uniforms, or any school (like Memorial and Kville) in black and red.
  10. Well, BOJO is really lame. I think Moody will be a good short-term thing for the Bears, and he might even get them into the playoffs for a round or so. But the BOJO thing is lahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. I see the cars all over Orange, but they don't realize how many people are COUNTING the "bojo" cars as a joke. I don't get it at all.
  11. I'd love for 63 degrees and dry with no bugs and a wind at the Mustangs' back.
  12. Finally, someone talking sense!
  13. I am plenty smart enough, thanks. YOU brought up Columbine. I simply pointed out how ridiculous the analogy was. I don't care about coaches cussing? You're right. I don't. It doesn't bother me.
  14. If you're equating a HS football coach using a four-letter word to murdering 14 innocent children, then you're the one that needs to be doing some thinking. That post was both incredibly melodramatic and somewhat sick, dude. Sorry. That's like when PETA equated the slaughter of chickens for meat to the extermination of Jews during the Holocaust.
  15. LOL!!!!! That's no joke! I saw one last week - practically molecules straining to hang together in the form of a 13-year-old shirt. See, we have to keep making new shirts because, like that 94 Bears season, we keep getting stuck with these 10-0 seasons (five of 'em since that bears "hit list" 10-0 season, eight overall).
  16. What surprise? I think if Vidor was ever going to make a move, it would have been last year with 20 starters back. They went 3-7. This year they only have 12 back.
  17. TAKS is ruining schools. Take it from someone who deals with it every day (we were rated "recognized"). And it's not just a problem at WO-S. Silsbee HS, Jasper HS and Deweyville HS are among the other local HS that were "Academically Unacceptable," as well as middle schools in Silsbee and Port Arthur. NO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS rated above "Acceptable," which is one notch above "unacceptable."
  18. I understand how you feel, and, though I completely disagree, there's really no point in arguing. I stand by my vote and reasoning, and neither of us will ever see it from the other's perspective. I was just explaining that I did vote for Ned but I'm not a "hater." We'll just have to agree to disagree.
  19. I think coaches cussing on the field is fucking bullshit. I'm sure the above was censored
  20. LC-M has made the playoffs five times, including a run to the quarterfinals less than 10 years ago in 1997. They went 11-1 in 94. They had a very good but very brief run there in the mid-90s. They were fairly strong last year, with their only out-of-reach losses coming from WO-S, Central and Dayton. They even beat down a few teams in surprises (42-0 over PN-G, 33-0 over Ozen). They should be fairly good this year.
  21. I can understand - but aren't you the guy who used to go off on WO-S posters for our "history lessons?" As a WO-S fan, I'm not at all "jealous" of Nederland, but I did vote for them - and here's why: I think a lot of people locally - mostly Nederland folks - consider them to be an "elite" team or up there with the best in the state. While I do acknowledge the accomplishment of making the playoffs 11 years straight, I think to be an "elite" team, you should more often than not - or at least HALF of the time, be the best team in your district - regardless what district you're in. At best, since 65, they've shared two district titles. With all due respect - and the program does deserve respect - I can't consider a team a "great" team if they are always second fiddle to someone else. "Great" teams usually sweep their districts. Several of Nederland's consecutive appearances have been third place tiebreakers. Over that 11-year span, they've lost almost 30 percent of their games (as compared to 18 percent by WO-S, 19 percent by Newton, 32 percent by PN-G, Now, Nederland is obviously a formidable team, but if we're talking about being "overrated," I'd pick them because I think the term fits. Dayton's record over the last 11 years has been almost identical - 11 straight playoffs and losing about 31 percent of their games - but people rolled their eyes at the start of last season at the suggestion that they would contend for a playoff spot. Is Ned a "Really consistently strong program?" Yes. "Great program?" Not yet. I think LC-M and Lumberton are getting about the amount of credit they deserve. I don't hear anyone hyping them in an over-the-top way. I don't hear that from Ned fans this year either, but I think folks in mid-Jeff County think of them as a "great program." I think they are one of the better teams in the area quite often, but never the best, which is how I think some perceive them. So, from an overall "overrated" perspective, they would have to be my vote.
  22. Hmmmm... Then why be on a board if you don't want to hear people argue about football? Prediction threads are built for debate and conflict. Big whoop. I get a kick out of firing back and forth with him because it's like watching a crawfish (balla) trying to catch a shark. When he's busted, he backs away for a few days, then creeps back in and pretends nothing ever happened. ;D
  23. True. Which is why a teacher should apologize to the kids and admit a mistake when they slip up. That's being a role model - showing that no one is perfect, but that you're accountable for your mistakes. Coaches are not in the same position when they are on the field or practice field. If they cuss, it doesn't bother me. I'd rather they cuss than berate or be demeaning toward a kid.
  24. Hopefully, you're directing that at balla. He's the one who keeps getting his panties in a wad that Kville isn't getting picked to win district. That's our opinion, which is what this forum is for. Thanks for the backup.
