  1. Even if I had no knowledge of Kirbyville's football history, I could tell simply by reading your posts that you support a school who does not have a winning tradition and has no idea how to handle even potential success. The facts? What are the facts? You came in third behind WO-S and Silsbee last year. That's a fact. Most predictions have at least one of us finishing ahead of Kville (SETX coaches poll, Beaumont Enterprise predictions, Texas High School Coaches Association poll). What you think will happen this season is not a fact. It's an opinion. Besides that, your first sentence is a fragment, and neither "braging" nor "definely" are words. You're making your English teacher look as bad as your team and fans!
  2. Several teams have a better chance than others, but I'm not sure if any team in our area has a "good" chance of going to state this year. Going to state is HARD. That's why it's such a big deal. With almost none of the local districts having a clear #1, I can't think of any "dominant" teams coming out. Obviously I could be wrong, but I don't see any team who I think, "They have a great shot at the whole deal." The coaches poll ranked us #8 in the state in 3A, but I think that might be a bit high. Our district should still be fun to watch head-to-head, but I think it's down somewhat on overall quality from a statewide perspective this year. Watch out next year, though...
  3. I'll alert the folks at WO-S that a superstar will emerge that night (whoever is being covered by 24 ).
  4. There wouldn't be "an article in the paper." I can remember teachers slipping up and cussing in class. No one made a big deal out of it - a little laugh and it was over.
  5. I don't think there's anything wrong with a coach cussing, as long as he isn't belittling a kid. I'd rather not hear a coach say, "Get your gosh darn head out of your rear and cover your doodling man!"
  6. Ben Wells from Ozen is also on the secondary roster. It could very well be a "Golden Triangle" out there in the defensive backfield in a few years.
  7. They did not want to establish the program under this coach. It would have been pretty hard to recover from.
  8. Ozen just needed a change. I work with a lot of the guys who scout for them, and they said there was some bad mojo in that locker room - from genuinely bad deeds to just plain apathy and bad attitude - not from just the kids, but some of the coaches. The former HC was apparently a nice and friendly guy, but wasn't suited to be in charge of that program - or any, from the sound of it.
  9. BC has never beaten WO-S in the past - even in their best years. What makes you think they'll win it when WO-S has what will likely be one of their best and most experienced teams in recent years?
  10. He means well? He just threw out a number and made threats using that number. Someone might have that number. I know that - at the very least - some of our players read his mess. It will only fire them up more. He might not be the devil, but he doesn't "mean well." He's not hurting us, he's hurting YOUR team.
  11. I don't think there's much doubt that Earl Thomas and Kenneth "Deon" Beasley will be starting opposite each other within a few years. Yes, it should happen.
  12. Does that include coordinators? Ya can't really beat Cornel Thompson, DC at WO-S, as far as I'm concerned.
  13. Hooks is on the field quite a bit, but certainly no more than guys like Neumann and Matthews. He's just called on it more on boards like this. But after Ned fans made a big deal about him doing it, I started noticing how much Neumann is out there - as did my fellow Mustang fans.
  14. In all likelihood, there's no #24. In fact, a Kirbyville player came on and said there is no #24, and balla has been missing in action since. He's a coward and a liar. I feel bad for Kirbyville, because this rube has been doing his best to represent them online, and the players from schools like WO-S and Silsbee are hearing it.
  15. Without sounding too cocky, I'd say we are a great program. If you are just looking at the numbers overall and not specifically this year, you have to go with WO-S between the two. WO-S has been to the playoffs 17 times as compared to Silsbee's 16. This is particularly significant because while Silsbee has been around since 1921, WO-S didn't start playing until 1977. Quarterfinals: Silsbee 5 WO-S Semifinals: Silsbee 1 WO-S 5 Finals: Silsbee 0 WO-S 4 Championships: Silsbee 0 WO-S 2 Playoff record: Silsbee 12-15 WO-S 31-16-1 Winning percentage (for games in history section): Silsbee 56 percent WO-S 79 percent Head-to-head wins: Silsbee 2 WO-S 13 I respect Silsbee tremendously, and most of our games have been very hard-fought. But if you're questioning which program is "better," I'd have to go with us. If you're asking about THIS year, then it's up for grabs.
  16. I might be wrong, but the concensus among most adult LC-M fans that I talk to is that Moody won't be there for more than another two or three years - for a variety of reasons. Apparently, he not only has a chance to move to - no offense - a better program, but I'm sure he'd like to coach somewhere where he can run his program his way 100 percent - like Hooks at WO-S, Barbay at Newton and even Neumann at Nederland.
  17. I couldn't agree more. You can't give up 25 points a game and expect to come out on top in a district like this one - not with the kind of offenses that teams like Silsbee, WO-S and Jasper will bring to the table most years. I don't think you can expect to beat all of them in a shootout, especially considering that their defenses - usually - are stout.
  18. Although I'm very confident in our O-Line this year, we don't seem to grow 'em like they do up in Jasper and Silsbee. Those guys get pretty huge and they pump out D1 linemen, while our D1 guys are usually smaller, quicker skill players (not that they do't send those out as well). We rarely have size like that on the line.
  19. I'll save my smack talk until after the game like a true weenie
  20. Baller seems to be online but veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery quiet lately. :-\
  21. Definitely a good hire by BC. Soon we'll all have a real fight on our hands for district titles.
  22. Hmmm... Perhaps the hiring of Dan Hooks Pinpointing a specific season, it would have to be 1983 or 1985. The first was our only losing season. The second was the year we lost to a tough Yates team in the regionals. It was our best season to that point, but, more importantly, there was definitely the feel that something special was starting. In the 21 years that have followed, we've only lost 15 district games - and we had an undefeated district record in two-thirds of those years (14 seasons). Four finals appearances and two titles over that span and the best winning percentage of any school in any classification.
  23. BINGO
  24. That is good. I prefer "beat like they stole something."
  25. Because he's lying and is embarrassing your team.
