  1. He's not talking about the supposed "push-off" play, but the play in the end zone when BC was called for interference. On that play, the defender was indeed all over him. Great season, Cards. See you guys next year and hopefully some of you on the road in a week or so.
  2. What school do you call your own? Championships are usually the thing that is on your mind when you go into the playoffs, but to state that a playoff team is no better than a sit-at-home team is absolutely beyond stupid. You didn't understand my previous post, did you? I can't "dumb it down" for you any more. I refuse.
  3. *cough* Hmmm... Seems like Central held their own and WO-S handed Dayton's own right back to them  So the "triangle" fared ok... Central did just as much to the teams that the broncos slaughtered. But I'm glad to have Dayton in our local football picture. I like that team.
  4. What an absolutely moronic post. Are you telling me that a team who goes 0-10 is equal to a team who goes 15-1 and loses the state title because "they both go home with nothing?" Why does it matter that WO-S goes 10-0? If I have to explain it to you, maybe you should be watching a different sport - like figure skating. What do we have to show for it? We have some of the most respected and storied programs in the state. Yes, a playoff team - for the most part - is better than the teams who stayed home. I say "for the most part" because there are times when another team has the same record but doesn't fit into the three slots. I'd say Nederland and LC-M were pretty much equal this year overall. But certainly they're better than Lumberton or Ozen this year. You MUST be from Lumberton. That would make total sense. If you have never made the playoffs, I suppose you wouldn't understand why it means something. It's funny, though. Lumberton folks sure were excited about the prospect of a playoff berth until it became clear that they were still the worst team in the district. Did they really think a title run was in their cards? There was never a chance - nor is there likely a title run in their future for another decade at best. Why try, then?
  5. Believe it or not, I was rooting for them to get the third spot. Forgive me.
  6. First off, the BC defender was riding on the receiver's back on the PI call. It was as blatant as I've seen in a while. If that wasn't pass interference, I don't know what is. If you're talking about Earl's reception in the fourth quarter, he stepped in front of the defender. It would be tough to push a defender who is behind you. You can blame refs, pushoffs, etc, but the fact of the matter is that BC only could muster 148 total yards in 48 minutes - including a 54-yard run. Meanwhile, WO-S rolled up almost 500 total yards. As far as the refs go, they missed the fact that BC was jumping a half step early on about 25 percent of their plays. Is there a chance that we'll need to run a fake punt at some point in the playoffs? Probably. The fact that we pretty much ran out the clock after that shows that we weren't going for more blood - which we certainly could have drawn if we had so chosen. If you can't see it that way, then see it this way: This is football, punkin. Toughen up and stop it if you don't want to get "slapped in the face." Get over it. I thought it was a pretty clean game by both sides. Both teams were good sports.
  7. Are you referring to me? I have yet to claim that we were going to win a title. Where exactly did you see ME claim that?
  8. It just struck me as silly. But very well... Good luck to the dogs. I will be pulling for you. Represent our area well.
  9. I'm not bitter at all - and far from jealous. I wouldn't trade my team's legacy with ANYONE's in this area. As far as bitter, how is it that Ned alone "knocked us out" of the playoffs? We lost to Ozen one of those years and Central the other. They played an equal hand in that and - in fact - took the title each year. Those years were good years. We were 8-2 and in a strong district. The tiebreaker kept us out one year, and the arbitrary points cap on the tiebreaker kept us out the other. That was a LONG time ago. This is now. We're undefeated and probably would have won y'all's district this year (winning by 17 AT Dayton). My point is that if my team was 5-5 - playoffs or not - I wouldn't be "barking" at anyone. Yeah, you have a "streak," but you extended it with a pretty sad regular season record. Here's a streak for ya: WO-S hasn't had a losing season in 24 years. If you think finishing in the postseason at sub 500 is something to brag about, it's a sad day in Mid County. I'd focus on finishing at .500 or better by winning next week. Good luck.
  10. We're 10-0, including a big win over Dayton. Why am I jealous again?
  11. I don't mean depressing for the team. I mean depressing in the sense that in the old days, one or two genuine contenders would be left at home in that district. Back then, we knew that the first two rounds probably weren't as good as two of the teams who had been left behind. Now there are two genuine contenders and a slew of 500 or below teams fighting for the third spot. The district isn't what it used to be. I meant depressing for those of us who have either been a part of the district or admired it until recently.
  12. Congrats to Ned. That being said, it's hard to understand gloating in anyone's face when you're 5-5. Unless the dogs win in the first round, they go out with a losing record. I'm glad your streak is extended, but a thread rubbing a 5-5 record in someone's face is kinda funny.
  13. Dishon was fine. He was down for a minute but only missed one play, and that was when the refs told him he had to sit out one play. Earl Thomas hurt his leg and missed some time, but seemed to be OK. Stats: Total Yards: WO-S: 496 BC: 148 Rushing: WO-S: 386 (5 TDs) BC: 148 (1 TD) Passing: WO-S: 13-18-1, 110 yards (1 TD) BC: 0-8-1 (0 TD) First downs: WO-S: 29 BC: 6
  14. What a game by Mosely! It's weird seeing a local 4A team hit the playoffs with a 5-5 record. How depressing! Good luck vs. GP.
  15. Dishon only missed one play - a kickoff return - due to the injury he suffered when Earl Thomas ran over him crossing the goal line. BC played hard, but really only had one play - the big run by #20. Great job, Stangs! The new guy on D (#10) looks like a stud!
  16. I graduated w/ Kerry. Was he drafted? I thought he signed as a free agent, but I guess that certainly still qualifies him. Also, Kendall Cleveland signed with the Buffalo Bills as a free agent.
  17. After seeing the first game, even with starters missing, I would be stunned if Kville beat them, but I suppose anything can happen.
  18. Yeah, get me one. I'll paint some hoofprints on it and wear it next Halloween
  19. Greg Hill of the KC Chiefs did not attend WO-S. WO-S pros that I can think of: Kevin Smith, Dallas Cowboys (started on three SB champs) Chris Cole, Denver Broncos Giles Cole, Minnesota Vikings Ernie Ladd, Oilers, Chargers, Chiefs Ernest Anderson, Detroit Lions Jay Canizaro, SF Giants Bruce Aven, various MLB teams Andre Robertson, Yankees John Patterson, Nationals
  20. We got pretty dang close last year, and I feel that we're much improved overall this year. All you have to do is win five games and you've got your shot. Besides, you lumberton folks were so enamored with Dayton after they stomped you, but you don't think we have a shot - even though we beat the broncos by 17?
  21. WO-S: Future Longhorn Earl Thomas: 670 yards, 11 TDs Future Red Raider Jacoby Franks: 577 yards, 6 TDs Ronnie Dennis: 151 yards, 2 TDs Dominique Rhodes: 137 yards, 2 TDs
  22. Bum Phillips and Wade attended West Orange, I believe.
  23. I suppose you have a point, but that makes it sound as though if you have great talent and tradition, you're ineligible for coaching recognition.
  24. From WO-S, we have Kevin Smith (first round pick by Dallas, started on three Superbowl teams) and Chris Cole (Denver Broncos). Neither is still playing.
  25. Trooper, your post did seem needlessly personal. I have to side with Tam on this one.
