Great teams find a way to win regardless of penalties, turnovers, bad playcalling, cheating, momentum, what-ifs or bad breaks. We did play our worst game. We found a way to win.

My point exactly. When you're beat in every stat and on the scoreboard and you claim to be "the better team," it's really dumb. Thanks for validating my point, brother.

Let me try to put this into perspective. You lost by seven points. By that, you believe that you were the "better team," even though we averaged more YPC, more passing yards, more points, fewer turnovers, etc. Last week, you beat Hamshire-Fannett by a mere SIX points. They outrushed you by almost 40 yards and by an average of four more YPC. They outgained you in total yardage. If they outdid you in stats AND were closer than you were to us, then THEY must be even better than YOU. If HF is better than Silsbee and Silsbee is better than WO-S, then HF is the default district champ. Agreed?

It's not the first time. We played a much better team in Dayton in Week 0. Perhaps you've heard of them. I never doubted the outcome of the game. My hat is off to Silsbee. They played very well. The better team won. See ya next year.

Better team? We outscored them, outrushed them on yards per carry, outpassed them, made fewer mistakes... where is your case for being the "better team?" Silsbee played well, but I still wouldn't say I thought they were a "very good" team. Good? Yeah.

Exactly - a great team finds a way to win on their worst night. This was a perfect example. It was our worst performance of the year, but we got the W. I'm not discrediting Silsbee - they played a great game. But WO-S wasn't fired up, they were sloppy (matching their turnover total for the year) and they didn't do what was working (passing the ball over the middle). We got the win. Was it our worst game? Yes - either this one or Bay City. Silsbee has a very good team. Our best game was probably against Dayton. Dayton is a GREAT team this year.

Refs? Let's look at penalties: Both teams had a big TD called back. That's even. Otherwise: penalties: WO-S: 8 for 58 yards Silsbee: 4 for 35 yards Silsbee only had one more turnover than we did, and two of the INTs that we got were EARNED.

You guys had an "off game" against PN-G and got spanked. We had one tonight and pulled out the win. You can't judge a team by one game - otherwise, PN-G is king (and we know that's not the case).

Good game, Tigers! It was our sloppiest game of the year, but we managed to find a way to win. I was impressed by Silsbee's D and running game. Great job pulling out a win, Stangs.

Didn't even see yours coming

If HJ was subbing early, then they were exchanging jerseys - because the same numbers were out there most of the night. Kirbyville was so-so, but HJ was the worst team I've seen in 30-plus years of watching football.

Actually, they have seen someone this fast and physical. They played WO-S already. WO-S beat Dayton 26-9.

Schools most definitely schedule weak opponents for homecoming. There's no doubt about it. Occasionally, there are exceptions.

Three teams is fine. Four teams is ridiculous. The truth is, they should do it by the number of teams in your district. If there are nine or 10 teams, four is not a problem. If there are four or five teams, even just three is ridiculous. Palestine was a powerhouse last year?

Gilmer will be DI and WO-S will most likely be DII. We won't play Gilmer. It's irrelevant. We saw the state's top teams last year and can see that we're a better team this year. We beat three of the top teams in the state last year, so we do just fine out of the area.

We've seen size. We've seen speed. We've seen skill. We've seen trickery. Bring it. Gasilla raises a great question. We may not be invincible (by any means), but we're certainly not Hamshire-Fannett.

We saw them last year in the third round and won 42-13 (I think). They are very talented on the ground, but completely inept through the air. That will hurt them in the playoffs.

What's the problem, PurplePride? You're #4. You have a shot to take out one of the teams above you and were already beaten by another. It looks fair to me.

That was Ennis. I thought they ran the spread.

With all due respect, HJ was the worst team I've ever seen on Friday. Maybe it was just that given night, but they were THE most outmatched team I have ever witnessed. Kville wins easily.

WO-S offense: Rushing: 1077 Passing: 1107 We have exactly 30 more passing yards than rushing yards. I'd call that pretty balanced. Silsbee appears to be exceptionally one-dimensional, and our run D is not a weakness, either.
