  1. Dayton isn't a tough team?
  2. When WO-S played at Nederland in the mid-90s, WO-S already had a big lead when the QB hit a completely uncovered receiver 25 yards upfield between the hash marks. As the WR streaked to the end zone, the whistle blew. They called it an "inadvertent whistle," which negated the TD. Ned fans still cry about the 2000 "lateral" call, but it was understandable as the ball BARELY moved forward and Neumann later admitted on one of the "Chalk Talk" TV segments that it was a trick play designed to look like an incomplete pass. The fact that it moved forward had been a mistake on the QB's part. He said, "It can work big for you, but we've learned that it can also really come back to bite you."
  3. Dayton is a very good team, but certainly not awe inspiring. The original post in this thread is arrogant in a sort of silly way, seeing as you have teams like WO-S and Newton occupying this forum - teams whose prowess outweigh that of Dayton. Yes, Dayton has done well making it into the playoffs for the last 10 years, but how many times were they knocked out by a team from this district? I think your reasoning for their winning ways is a part of the secrets to success. I think another part has been occupying a very weak district. This year, they are very strong. I just think the initial post here is silly. Please... teach us... I'm rooting for them in their district, though.
  4. Dayton is an excellent team, but clearly Lumberton isn't up to par with what you guys were pushing on us. One of you claimed that WO-S was lucky that we didn't have you on our schedule. WO-S beat Dayton 26-9. I still think Dayton wins the district, but let's not act like you figured them out in the second half. The reason it didn't get worse than 55-7 is because Dayton's coaches had mercy.
  5. I'm going with the Cats on this one.
  6. Carthage is ranked, but so are we. We don't think we're invincible, but certainly we're confident with the group of players and coaches we have this year.
  7. Locally, I think they are the 4A team to beat right now. Statewide, probably not. WO-S beat them pretty handily in the second half, and I don't know that we're even THE team in 3A. They have my vote for the district title, though.
  8. PN-G 24 bears 14
  9. I don't think it was a fluke, I don't think Ned is bad, and I don't think Vidor will make the playoffs. That's my vote. Congrats on a big win, but Dayton and Central will be the top two in this district. Number three will come down to Ned, PN-G and Vidor. I'm thinking it will be the injuns, but I could be wrong.
  10. Newton 98 was great, but beaten by a better WO-S 98 team. Newton is one of my "other" teams.
  11. This game is a must-win if they don't want to get caught in a tiebreaker situation again. I think Central and Dayton are both big challenges for them, and PN-G/Nederland is always a "pick em."
  12. Andre Bevil, WOS QB Sure, he only had 264 yards and 4 TDs, but he had 242 yards in the first half before being relieved of his duties for the night midway through the third quarter.
  13. Slaughtered? It looked pretty close to me.
  14. Ever since we played them in Week Zero, I've thought Dayton was the team to beat in this district.
  15. The point is that we were merciful I'm kidding. I think it's a valid point to make, especially when we put so much stock into posting scores and game details. Did I offend you?
  16. After playing Dayton in Week 0, WO-S fans knew they were for real.
  17. Good. Don't worry about our defense. Jasper's is much better. Points given up so far this year: Jasper - 102 WO-S - 35
  18. Continuous clock through the entire fourth quarter in this one. Best wishes to the QB. Updates?
  19. Closer than I expected
  20. Even if we lost to HF, we'd have a shot at state. They don't start eliminating until the playoffs, and there's not a great chance of us missing the playoffs.
  21. WO-S is certainly up there. No matter how much we're outmanned, we're rarely beaten in the heart department. I'd put Newton right up there.
  22. WO-S has won 10 straight over the battlin bears. I believe their last victory was preceded by another WO-S 10-year streak.
  23. I'm surprised Lumberton folks are so hyped. I guess that's a good thing. At the same time, their opponents are a combined 1-8 this year.
