  1. Ugly for the Pirates this week. Ned by 21.
  2. Glad to see you're so up on our program. All I know about yours is that you had 20 total passing yards in your first game. Better step that up, baby. That one-dimensional Wing-T-type junk won't fly here.
  3. Oh yeah... Kirbyville is in our district, aren't they? I forgot.
  4. Is we in for a surprise? Nice grammar. Keep talkin', sunshine.
  5. Ned by 21.
  6. Ditto here, Eagle. Kirbyville looks pretty good, but not good enough to get too cocky. I will give them third in district.
  7. Wasn't it 48-14 in our four-quarter scrim last year? Call us overrated if you will, but we've been playing 4A teams while you guys are playing Cleveland and Liberty. The opponents you have beated have the following combined record: 1-7. Cleveland has lost to you, Diboll, Hardin-Jefferson and LUMBERTON for Pete's sake... and they've given up about 200 points. Liberty has only won against winless Stafford. Then there was that Carthage game. Overrated indeed.
  8. I'll be honest - I just don't think about Lumberton when I think SETX football. It's just not a program that pops into your head like WO-S, PN-G, Nederland, Newton, Jasper, Central, Silsbee, BC, Ozen, etc.
  9. 9-7 BC. Dishon out for the game with an injury. Still no completed passes for BC.
  10. In my mind, without a doubt, it was WO-S/Calallen in 2000. We won it on a big play by Jermaine Hope with a minute to play. The winner - WO-S - went on to the state championship. That was the greatest game I ever remember seeing - including any of the four state title games. I have never seen so much raw emotion on and off the field. We were a pile of adrenaline-filled meat in the Astrodome seats when the refs signalled TD. Calallen had no passing game, but bar-none the best running attack I have ever seen.
  11. BH and Kville may have been fun, but the 87 WO-S/Jasper games had state title implications. Greatest by far.
  12. It was 27-10 (WO-S) at the half.
  13. I'll take both.
  14. Ned has a definite shot at district this year, with Dayton a strong contender also. Beasley was a huge asset for us and played non-stop, but he was backed up by three other certain D1 commits in White, Thomas and Franks. When he needed relief, there was another athlete to step up. I'm not saying this is not the case in ned, but I haven't followed them like I did WO-S last year. The passing game looks serviceable, so this might be the year that they get the actual district title. My bet is on Dayton, but with Ned certainly a strong contender.
  15. Fair weather fans in Ltown? Hmm. Our fans are spoiled. If we're not crushing someone, they're too quiet. I'm way loud enough for my section, though.
  16. Might as well make out a WO-S (and pre-WOS) list, not suggesting that all are worthy: Kevin Smith - (CB) holds record for ints in SWC at A&M/3 rings with Dallas Chris Cole - (WR) A&M/Broncos Ernie Ladd - (DT) Grambling/Oilers/Chiefs Giles Cole - (TE) SFA/briefly with Vikings Kendall Cleveland - (RB) LSU/briefly with Bills Kenneth Beasley - (QB/CB/WR) currently at UT Kerry Franks Jr. - (RB/WR) currently at A&M Kerry Franks Sr. - (RB) I believe OSU Jermaine Hope - (CB) Tulsa Michael Ledet - (S/LB) Tulsa Jeff Thibodeaux - (CB) Tulsa Gayron Allen - (LB) national title at OU Earl Thomas - (CB) committed to UT Brian Cleveland - (RB) Georgia (behind Herschel Walker) Coaches who are Orange natives (born in Orange) who are notable: Bum and Wade Phillips RC Slocum I don't know how that last section is relevant to fantasy, but I was unaware that the Phillips were both Orange natives.
  17. Did Eckert excel in college? I wasn't sure. I knew his dad. While we're homering out, Gayron Allen won a national title at OU. When it comes to offensive weapons, Beasley was as good and versatile as they come. Who is Culbert? I think you have to put K. Smith in first at CB.
  18. I'd stick these former WO-S guys in there, but I'm a homer: CB Kevin Smith (A&M, Cowboys) LB Paul Thomas LB Gayron Allen (Oklahoma)
  19. If Silsbee can improve the passing game, they have a shot. If not, no way.
  20. As Livingston is not a member of this district, it will give no indication of whether Vidor has a chance at the playoffs. They don't, but this game will not indicate that.
  21. Very seriously, folks... the BOJO thing is so lame that it has become a very popular joke. More non-lc people are saying it than LC people are. BOJO!!! My wife and I ROLL laughing every time we see it painted on a car. I mean NO disrespect. You know how if your friend came out wearing cowboy boots and a formal gown with an eye patch, you would say, "You REALLY don't want to wear that?" THAT is how I feel talking to my LC friends about BOJO. Please, stop. Y'all are embarrassing yourselves. I wish you a successful season. I'm doing this for your own good. Anyone?
  22. He's talking about the power ratings - the title of this thread. PN-G is in at 98 with Nederland at 116.
  23. I would say BC also. They could be contenders, or they could be in for a rough year. They haven't played any of their three toughest opponents for the season yet.
  24. 1. WO-S: Probably an overall stronger team than last year, with big time offensive weapons in Bevil, Garrett, Thomas and Franks... with a few others not too far behind. Too many weapons. They need to work on consistency, as they've been a second-half team all year. 2. Silsbee: I've heard that the running game looks good, but that the passing game leaves a whole lot to be desired. O-fer-10 passing against PN-G? That could bump them down further. 3. Jasper: I really believe the dawgs will turn things around and make the playoffs. Call me crazy, but I really thing it will happen. They dominated Newton until the fourth quarter, where the Eagles put up two scores in the final two minutes. In no particular order: Bridge City: Dishon is a great athlete, but not enough to carry the load they're putting on him. Visor or no visor, the Lumberton loss was a shocker. Kirbyville: A blowout win and a blowout loss. Well, I guess we might as well be 0-0, because I don't know much more about them than I did at the start of the season. Hamshire-Fannett: An average score of 12-9 in the first three games. I'm going to the concession stand. Hardin-Jefferson: Two wins against Anahuac and Cleveland. Meh. Orangefield: I so badly want to see the Cats in the playoffs, but not this district, not this year. I hope I'm wrong.
