  1. You already know who I am partial to in this award but at the end of the day, I think that I want my brother to win the award more than he does. The award is great yes, but those college offers are so much better. Congrats to all kids involved. Oh and btw if Roschon doesn't win, give it to Tyler.
  2. Keep em coming! More ammo for me these next few years against Kronos lol
  3. Sabine Pass probably doesn't get credit because of who they are and who they play. I believe they beat a Louisiana home school team this year and a few other squads that did not fare well this year. When they faced quality opponents on their level in DISTRICT, (those out of district games were jokes) they got smashed EVERY TIME. If they would have won more I think one of them could have made it. Now you can reply that the awards are given on an individual basis which is true, but the kids that won the award for example in Jones' case are just better, and in many cases are going to D1 schools because they performed at high levels (Vincent Jr) against HIGH QUALITY opponents. Vincent Jr is one the nations best young CBs and the WO-S corners are the best unit in SETX and probably Tx as a whole. The others CBs on that list have college offers very likely on the way. Against those guys, who are Better individually, play on Better teams, against Greater competition, with Greater production, the choice is easier. My boy Felix Jones had to average 20 points a game in basketball in Sabine Pass when he was there but it did not help out much with recognition, scholarships, and awards as far as b-ball is concerned. Its who you play and how you beat em. 10/147:00p Iola (Iola, TX) Location: Sabine Pass High School Box Score 55 - 14Loss 10/217:00p @ Hull-Daisetta (Daisetta, TX) Location: Hull-Daisetta High School Box Score 46 - 12Loss 11/47:00p @ Evadale (Evadale, TX) Location: Evadale High School Box Score 42 - 14Loss 11/107:00p Tenaha (Tenaha, TX) 2016 UIL Football State Championships - 2016 Football Conference 2A D2 Box Score 82 - 0Loss
  4. From a person who graduated undergrad at an HBCU (Xavier U) and will finish from another with a master in May (Southern U New Orleans), I can say that he would be provided a unique educational experience and he would be well taken care of by people with his best interests at heart, not to say that other schools would not do the same. I hope the young man goes wherever he pleases and that he is successful on and off the field. That first college semester will introduce him to the world so again I hope he successful wherever he goes. If he does choose Grambling though, it would be all the more reason to go to Bayou Classic down the road at the Dome!!! lol

  6. Some people just cant think that far ahead and question why others do so. I think that's the issue here. With high school/college football comes recruiting. Schools look ahead at players to get early jumps on them before other schools do. This is a normal part of football. I don't get his gripe either. I expect he will say something like "2019 is still over 2 years away", which matters little to this Topic or to the College coaches and scouts since as you said there are kids with multiple power 5 school offers in 2018 and 2019. The more technology we get to scout and record, the further college coaches will reach into the talent pot as far as age is concerned IMO
  7. Some 2019 kids have scholarships to Big name schools already.
  8. Hey everybody, I wanted to take a look back into 2016 and some of the exciting ball players that made impacts this year. This year was very exciting for many teams across SETX. New kids made impacts and SRs made a bang on the way out. I am proud of how my Indians worked their tails off this year and I am of course proud of what my brother was able to do this year in his first year as a varsity QB. I look forward to him tearing up 22-5a for the next two years. All that aside there were other players and teams who made HUGE impacts as well. Calvin Tyler Jr was sensational. The WO-S mustangs entire team had nearly no flaws and play makers at every skill position on O and D. Bridge City balled and unleashed one hell of a running game on 4a. Vidor shook up SETX by becoming a running juggernaut in District play. Memorial, led by VIncent and Hines showed that they have the most talented team in 22-5a. The Mayffield kid bounced back from whatever unfortunate situation and had an awesome year at Legacy. Westbrook was led into playoff play by an exciting Soph QB. Nederland overcame early season mishaps to field a competitive team by seasons end. Centrals players overcame their coaches lol. Heck Evadale (QB especially), and Hull Daisetta had beaslty years and Sabine Pass actually won more than a game. 21-5a had talented teams and well coached teams as wells. I know i missed many because I primarily focus on 22-5a but what other guys stood out from your teams and who do you think will make big impacts next year? We all talk about how certain kids get overlooked for others. Well who stood out to you?
  9. Its really not that serious. None of these guys played to make the Bmt Super gold team. In an award sense it means more to be first and second team district because that is voted by coaches right. It seems the adults are more angry than the kids on this one. Now I know that some will say the kids performace earned it, but the nature of the award is that is subjective. People will have different opinions and that doesnt mean that they are wrong, just different. At the end of the day, its a dinner banquet and a piece of paper with your name on it. Yay.................
  10. Roschon Johnson according to Qbhitlist.com. You see I don't want to flood the board with Shug posts but I feel like I have to with this one. I just can't wait to see what way ppl will hate on coming into this year. I guess that Memorial game tape DID look good Kronos lol. Im out, see you guys later. 11. Shugs 1600 rushing plus Hughes 850-950 puts them around 2500 rushing to Roschons 2364 passing. It was more balanced than you think.
  12. He is a stats guy and would like to compare Tavian's statline to other QBs in the area or wherever.
  13. Definitely, with the exceptions of Leckelt and Quirante but that is it. Defense had no standouts. Vidor was talent starved but as hard nosed and blue colllar as they come this past year. If they actually had a QB who could throw consistently, (Quirante to me is a RB playing QB) they may have had a chance to do so much more.
  14. How he handles the next two years will go a long way in who he is able to recruit in that 2019 class. I hope he does well.
  15. Should be Keitha Jones. PAM should have an unstoppable running game. PNG will be very competitive while Roschon is there. Afterwards, idk. Next two years will tell alot about the future depth of both teams.
  16. With a full scholarship and it being close to home, nothing is impossible. Buy you are right, he will have plenty to choose from
  17. yeah that's from the staff. He ran 4.67 as a freshman. That was pretty much Hurts speed as a senior. Roschon will be by no means a burner but he has more than enough speed for the QB position. Heck Dak Prescott runs a 4.79 and he lead Miss State his years.
  18. Hurts SR YR Height: 6′ 2″ Weight : 209 lbs 40-yard dash in 4.65 Passed forr 2,384 yards with 26 touchdown passes rushed for 1,391 yards and 25 touchdowns Johnson Soph. YR Height: 6′ 2″ Weight : 185 lbs 40-yard dash in 4.5 Passed for 2,364 yards 29 touchdowns and Rushed for 1653 yards and 26 touchdowns You are right. Very Comparable
