  1. Exactly - Glad someone brought up the important issues. PNG’s rolling out one of their favorite atmospheres. We call it: “Everyone wear purple and bring more fans than the home team.” And, by all reports BU has physical speed in abundance. We’ll know by game time whether they have the seven other kinds of speed (Recognized in the “Dictionary of Speed” as emotional, spiritual, mental, astrological, nuclear, cellular, and amphetamine).
  2. Feels weird to predict BH in this, but that’s where we are.
  3. I hate being ranked #1. I know that sounds ungrateful - It’s amazing what PNG has been doing since Joseph got here. But the ranking just feels like a big distraction. You’re not #1 until you’re holding the trophy for THIS year. Until then, you just have to play the next game. I heard fans talking about “getting back to Arlington” at the game on Friday, as if it were a guarantee. I hope that poison isn’t getting to the players.
  4. PNG takes this, but there’s a lot to improve after last night. Everyone else has said most of it, but I’d add we need to get better at outside containment. Just about every long run Klein Oak had was around the outside. We were a little sloppy on containment against LCM too. Kickoff coverage needs a lot of work too.
  5. I’ll go with WOS by three.
  6. Tackling has been really poor in this second half, especially on the edge and on kickoff returns. Extremely uncharacteristic.
  7. PNG gets another interception. I think that’s 4 on the night. Indians at KO 35. Wearing them down. 6:33 left in the game.
  8. Bailey to Nunley on a deep pass for 6. PNG either botched or faked the extra point and kicker ran it in for 2. !!score:18/7/2
  9. KO is big in the trenches
  10. Score is Klein Oak 7, PNG 0
  11. I’d be surprised if NS doesn’t win by at least 21 points. Both teams benefit from a good, strong high profile matchup against talented players. SOC gets great reps on the road after a long trip (they had to leave around 9am this morning) against a dominant team with good fan support. Awesome playoff prep.
  12. I hope not.
  13. Wow. Didn’t know Manvel had fallen so far. Do they have a different coach from the 2010-2021 era? They used to be scary.
  14. The offense this year will be a lot better than the last couple of years. But, I think it will seem to not be the case for a few games - The line is learning an entirely new blocking scheme. Though I only saw about 12 plays on offense for Nederland at the scrimmage, I thought some of the players looked a little confused. That’s a good thing - It means Coach Rich is making them learn to do it right, not just handing them something that “works”but isn’t exactly correct. Once they “really” get it (my guess is it will take a few games) I think a lot of people will be impressed. The biggest question mark for me will be can they run it up the middle consistently. It’s clear Ned can go to the outside because they’ve got the speed for it (PNg hasn’t the last two years. I’m hoping that changes this year). But those outside runs really open up when you’ve proven that you can punish the defense if they don’t crowd the box. If you can go up the middle for 3-4 yards a play AND run to the outside consistently, the defense is screwed.
  15. I don’t know that. But, the d and special teams did more than their part, that’s for sure.
  16. I watched a bit more Klein Oak film from last year. Of course, last year isn’t a reliable indicator of what this year will be, but absent a huge player turnover or a coaching change it can give us an idea of what kind of ball they play and what kind of players they put on the field. So, I’m revising my original 17-14 prediction (for what it’s worth). KO’s lines aren’t good. Defense is soft. They do sling the ball around well, and it looks like they’ve had some strong runners, but with a bad oline, we’ll take the runners out of the game. I think they’ll give our secondary some good reps, but I don’t think this stays a ball game for more than a half. PNG wins by at least three touchdowns.
  17. I’d say neither PNG and Huntsville are trying to light up the scoreboard. The last two years, PNg has been all about ball and clock control. We held the ball for 9 min straight against Brenham last year. Had a similar long stretch against Leander Rouse. The Indians aren’t trying to score as much as they can. It’s just “play good defense and keep the ball moving, preferably on the ground.” Huntsville is similar. Montgomery Lake Creek is definitely different from that. They’d keep their starters in against a kindergarten. Dayton I think will be a high-scoring team once Prieto gets going, but he’ll improve their defense a bit. Overall, Nederland and PNG are about to look very similar. From what I saw at the Ned scrimmage, they’ll look like a more direct copy of Katy than PNG. But, that’s just nuance; PNG runs up the middle, Ned will do a lot of play action and runs to the outside. And, PNG lines up under center all the time. MCM is going to be two teams lining up and smashing into each other for 4 quarters. I’m for it.

  19. Think of the rain as a giant sprinkler system. We just want the Bulldogs to feel at home.
