  1. Prieto having coached at both team and his proven track record of having taken Crosby to the state championship makes this one even more interesting.
  2. Any estimate on BU’s numbers? Westbrook had 42-45 suited up against Nederland.
  3. I watched the Huntsville live quarters. Hard to judge Huntsville based on that scrimmage - They might be good, they might be about to win state. They’re big, fast, and seem to be picking up where they left off last season. Reason it’s hard to judge is Lufkin looks terrible. Fumbles, bad passes that get intercepted, very little push from the O-line. From start to finish, Lufkin looked entirely out of sorts. Just a scrimmage, so still time for Lufkin to put it together. Anyway, Huntsville is going to be solid.
  4. Lake creek is in the coverage area. I think New Caney is too.
  5. Brand new one just for them, I heard
  6. Normally I’d say The Reservation, but Huntsville just built a new stadium. I’d need to see it first.
  7. I don’t know much about Klein Oak. It looks like they’re in a decent district, and they’ve got some good size. I think we’ll be able to stop the run, and our pass rush is led by veterans. I think PNG wins it, but it’s going to be a rough, low-scoring game. I’m thinking 17-14 PNG.
  8. I don’t have my Texas Football magazine in front of me, but I think they’re bringing back some star power from their state run. And, didn’t Jasper lose their good LB? So, just on experience and games played, I’d say 35-21 TCH.
  9. Let’s get it going
  10. The secondary flies around. D-line got pushed around against the PNG 1s, but that’s just good reps for a scrimmage. Pretty fast to the edge by qb and Rb. Qb is a dual threat. Receivers had trouble finding space, but there’s some speed there. Nothing mind blowing, but I thought they looked well-coached and prepared.
  11. No - he was done after the first half.
  12. That makes sense - I heard about a threat of some kind. Are you not allowed to suit up if you miss class on game day? I think that’s the rule, but I’m not sure.
  13. Any report on Nederland? I stuck my nose in the first 15 min or so of their scrimmage, then went to see PNG. Ned RB has put on some muscle - broke several tackles. Also, Ned’s numbers seem way down. I counted about 37 suited up. PNG had about 65 today.
  14. 24-14, final. LCM looked good. PNG looks on-schedule for what they’re bringing back. Both sides got some good reps in.
  15. About 65 suited up. LCM has about 39.
  16. PNG at 17-0 over LCM after two game condition quarters.
  17. Whichever CB for LCM is wearing #4 is really playing well tonight.
  18. I was already looking forward to seeing what Huntsville does this year. Now Matt’s laid down the gauntlet lol
  19. That PAM loss was our good luck charm. I don’t know what we’ll do without it.
  20. PNG plays Klein Oak, Beaumont United, and La Porte. 1-2
  21. I agree - Shae Adams is going to be very hard to replace. Nerves of steel. We’re going to need to find someone with his ability to create mismatches and execute clutch plays.
  22. The RB corps might be stronger overall than last year. A true “whoever has the ball can break a big one” situation. It will be hard to replace Nyugen, for sure - I don’t know if we’ve ever had an RB who read the play so well. But I think we’ll be faster this year, so that opens up more runs to the outside. I’m just hoping we don’t drink the rat poison on all the pre-season rankings and predictions. We’re not guaranteed anything, and the odds of making it back to state again are always extremely low. Not to mention serious potential for a drop in the seeding if we lose to Lake Creek or Huntsville (Dayton and Montgomery will be good too, and Nederland is going to a lot better than last year), setting up a second round matchup with South Oak Cliff. It’s a dangerous district, and the playoff path is vastly more difficult. All that being said - We’ve got great pieces, great coaching, great experience, and a great fan base. Sky’s the limit.
  23. Any pictures? All I’ve seen is practice video.
  24. Nothing wrong with what Qb1 said. If anything, he was throwing himself under the bus - He’s been qb1 for the past two years, correct? So, he’s been one of those “leaders.” Whatever Qb1 has to tell his team right now to build chemistry and purpose, I’m right behind him. That was also a good interview from Coach Rich. I think Nederland is in good coaching hands (and I wanted them to go with the other finalist). You can already see it in the video - The conditioning seems better, there’s more excitement and energy. Of course, that has to play out in the games. But, listening to coach Rich talk, it‘s hard to not want to suit up for him. I’m always wrong on predictions, so I’ll just say I think Nederland is on the right track. Don’t be surprised if they make the playoffs, and I expect Mid-County Madness will be a classic this year. The exciting thing if you’re a Nederland fan is they don’t have that far to go - The last few seasons, it was a combination of being a little worse in a lot of ways that made them seem a lot worse. If Nederland is even 1% better at every position (including coaching) this season, the result will be scary for the rest of us.
  25. See ya’ll there!
