  1. I’m assuming these are listed in order.

    Pre-season
    Klein Oak

    Beaumont United

    La Porte

    District

    Dayton

    Huntsville

    Montgomery

    Montgomery Lake Creek

    Nederland

    New Caney West Fork

    Splendora

Anyone know anything about Klein Oak?

I’m slightly sad we don’t get our annual PAM game.

Pretty absurd to compare the two considering Neumann had a significantly higher amount of experience as head coach. Compare Neumanns first several years and I’m sure the record would be similar to Barrow’s.

I think Neumann started in 1993. In his first seven years, he was 4-3 vs PNG, and it only got worse for PNG from there.

I guess the Liberty Hill folks got tired of getting beat by PN-g and had some connections.

Just think at least if y'all play SOC it will not be in Dallas

And it does seem like things ended up good for Liberty Hill. I don’t know if the UIL was trying to treat them well,  but they get to stay in the district closest to them (almost no travel) even though it makes their district have 9 teams, leaving a neighboring district (that isn’t very far) with only 6. And, to top it off, nearly all of LH’s recent competition in region 3 (all of the regional semifinalists except for Richmond Randle) got moved to the other side of the bracket when they moved over.

PNG and Ned got absolutely hosed.

District 11 (currently region 3) should be in either region 1 or region 4 (if in region 4, move district 14 to region 1). And why would Liberty Hill be in district 11 (9 teams) instead of district 10 (six teams, and makes roughly as much geographic sense)?

District 4 (currently region 1) should be in region 2.

District 8 (png & Ned, currently region 2) should be in region 3.

The right solution was under their noses. How do we go from a Houston area school to a Dallas area school? There are two entire districts closer to Dallas that could be in those northern regions. How does Liberty Hill moving into our region bump us to the entire other side of the bracket?

Regardless, PNG will be a good team and this alignment makes for some interesting matchups, both in district and in the playoffs.

I like PNG’s non district schedule the last few years.

    - 1 decently easy win.  You can get some different kids in and try some new things.

    - 1 team that’s pretty equal.  You have to play a complete game to win.

-1 team that’s better than you.

You can learn a lot about your from all 3 of those type games.  I’m not a fan of scheduling 0-3 and getting beat up before district.  Monte still may have a job if he didn’t schedule 0-3 starts the last few years.

Also with the out of town districts, I doubt coaches will be looking to travel much for non district games.  We’ve had enough early releases from school the last few years…..

    Those are good points

Sorry, I 've been on a hiatus but I'm back for the slander! All I'm saying is there has been an influx of Mexican kids who has moved in and they bring nothing to the table football wise and hardly athletic wise. You make it seem as I'm Donald Trump petitioning to "Build That Wall" haha.  If anything, they may play soccer, but look at the soccer program!! Nederland was ALWAYS good in soccer now they are at the bottom of the barrel, who would've ever have thought Nederland Football, Soccer, and Baseball would all be mediocre or below average. Times have changed for the worst and it has more to do than coaches, it comes down to athletes and talent! Boys Basketball is the only Boys sport being competitive! And what do you mean the Track Coach won't let the kids participate in individual events!? Track is mainly an individual sport?!

Did you see how many Hispanics play for PnG? Have a look at the roster. They’re a strength. With a good program, everyone can excel.

Ok? Nederland and PNG fluctuate every realignment… that doesn’t mean anything.

And it doesn’t actually equate to many more players. I’d estimate for every 50-75 kids, there might be one player. I haven’t done the math - that may be too high. So, there might be four more players at png because of that difference.  And, that doesn’t even mean these are good players. But, one of those extra four might be Roschon Johnson. So it might give us a slight advantage, but most of the time, only slight. Nederland was about 100 bigger than us throughout the 2010s, and probably before, since they always tended to go d1 over us.

The administrative/rule making arm of the UIL is the legislative council....which is made up of the schools themselves...if the schools want the transfer rules changed then they have the ability to do so themselves....

I know some people want to go back to an automatice one-year sit out if a kid transfers...problem there is that already got overturned in the courts...UIL used to have that rule in place...its one of the few court cases the UIL's ever lost

I understood Separation Scientist as referring to Nederland’s administration needing changes, not the statewide bodies.

They need more toughness to get thru those guys. Talent isn't an issue that's for sure. That last game played was ugly.

It won’t take long. Jeff Joseph took over a png team that was not nearly as far ahead as Lovejoy, and he brought them to state using a lot of Dodge’s system and training. What Todd Dodge himself can do with a regional runner up program with resources, buy-in, and fan support is terrifying. Region 2 just became a nightmare. Too early right now to say whether SOC is getting dethroned as region champ. I agree Anna is going to be a problem, but it remains to be seen how good they are in 5a.

He doesn’t necessarily pick the coach…just assists in narrowing down the list of applicants then makes a recommendation out of the top 3-5 candidates but ultimate decision is made by School Board and Superintendent.  However, I’m sure he probably has to complete the consulting job with Nederland, if he hasn’t already, prior to signing on the dotted line at Lovejoy.  5A div II just got A LOT more interesting with the LEGEND back in the game…lol!

I’m sure he has no reason to not find and recommend the best coach (though, if I’m Nederland I would have wanted him to include the best coach - himself - on the list).

this transferring and recruiting garbage in HS sports is what needs to stop...taking the fun out of it, in part, if you ask me

Yep - PNG has to rely on coaching up the boys we have, and SOC openly rebuilds like they’re in the ncaa. They had no pass rush against PNG last year - If we face them next year, they’ll have an all new team tailor made to deal with us. It’s ridiculous. And , if they win we’ll all stand there and clap and pretend there was anything organic about their team. If we win, they’ll file grievances and try to put asterisks and insinuations on the victory.

I’m not saying they’re breaking the rules by all these transfers. They’re a magnet school and PnG isn’t, etc. But the idea that all the schools don’t put their teams together under the same rules challenges the idea of high school sports altogether.
