  1. Did PAM have a scrimmage this week?
  2. LCM only scored twice to my knowledge, but I could have missed one.
  3. I had no tears. My team played at AT&T last year. Just wishing the Tigers the best.
  4. I think PNG ended up with three touchdowns and a field goal. LCM, two touchdowns. Both teams looked pretty sharp, with advantage to png on both sides of the ball. Png defensive and offensive lines are huge, physical, and look game-ready. LCM largely didn’t move the ball against PNG’s 1s, but their passing and run game opened up in the second half. Both teams’ qbs looked good. LCM has some good size, well-coached, and they have a couple fast running backs. LCM defense isn’t as good as their offense, but they overall look pretty good. Png looks like a mostly well-oiled machine, but there were a few mistakes like dropped passes, and a couple missed tackles. PNG’s qb 2 had a couple of really nice passes completed in the second half. Png qbs threw a couple ints.
  5. Silsbee needs to play better defense. They should have put cuero away. The better team lost that game.
  6. What time? Any idea of what format the scrimmage will take?
  7. I would argue PNG doesn’t have more talent. PNG has a really good coach. Roughly the same group that got blown out in the 3rd round in 2021 went to State in 2022. The only thing that changed was a better coaching approach.
  8. How will they be favorites? Is Fort Bend Marshall going to disappear (without even getting into the other teams in the district)? I can see an argument they’ll be in the mix. But I see no basis for calling them favorites, until we see more. How about they win a first round playoff game ?
  9. I agree with that approach. I don’t care if my team goes 0-3 through preseason as long as it’s making them better.
  10. What does a good season for Nederland look like this year? Setting aside the obvious “10 wins and a deep playoff run.” Given what last year was and what’s coming back, what looks good? I think six wins and making the playoffs would be a strong argument they’re improving. I don’t know if I see an easy path to 6. Of course, throw in a win against PNG and people would feel pretty good about things, I think. Who does Nederland play for pre-season?
  11. Their defense definitely was their biggest weakness. Terrible tackling.
  12. Silsbee and more than likely West Orange are beating Nederland.
  13. I’ll be very sad to see him go. Few people dedicate themselves so well to something for so long, and make it their own. You can tell he loves the local athletes, and he is easily the biggest name in sports journalism in SETX. It will be weird not having him doing the coverage. Best of luck to Ashly!
  14. Png WAS outcoached by SOC and PAM
  15. I didn’t say they wouldn’t have been better. It makes a difference to lose your two best running backs. I’m saying that runningback play wouldn’t have won them that game. It’s not like they had Bijan Robinson on the sidelines.
  16. Png won by beating the LH offensive and defensive lines. It wouldn’t have mattered if those two starters had been healthy. They wouldn’t have had anywhere to run.
  17. No way Melissa should be higher than SOC
  18. I could qualify it to be “in 5a d2” - I’m more confident in that anyway.
  19. I don’t think it’s controversial at this point in time to say that PNG was the better team against Nederland last year - more talent, better-coached, more bought-in to the system, you name it. Yet, when we actually had to play (even taking into account the weather conditions), Nederland took us to the brink. You have to credit the coaching and the kids. Even with whatever the supposed problems are at Nederland right now, the coaches should get some credit for how Nederland stood up in a down season against the best version of PNG they’ve seen in a long time. On the other hand, the interception that allowed us to get the game winner was an inexcusably bad throw and a bad play call. That’s coaching too. So, yeah, Nederland had problems last year. But they had bright spots too. They’ll be better this year.
  20. I think we had the best d-line and linebackers (as a unit) in the state. Nick Gardner had an incredible performance in the state game, and throughout the playoffs.
  21. I’m excited. It’s sort of a “prove it” year in some ways. Was last year just a combination of great players, good coaching, and luck, or is there a proven, winning system being installed at PNG? I think we have an excellent coach, and it seems to me that the conditioning and mentality is better than it’s been in at least 30 years.
  22. They balled out against png. Rain helped them, but they brought it all game.
  23. What does that mean? Not enough money? Dumb policies?
