The key will the play in the trenches, but we can’t ignore this will be the best secondary we’ve faced all season. It’s going to be TOUGH to get down the field. If PNG can match them physically, I have no doubt the coaches can make winning adjustments. Just hope the stage isn’t too big for us.

I was thinking that last night- the last several years the semifinal for 5ad2 has been liberty hill vs our district (of course Crosby is no longer in our district, but I’m speaking loosely of our group)

Conditioning is 100% better. They’re more athletic this year. Whatever the off-season program was, it is one of the differences

Who honestly thought they would after the last 23 years?

What a defensive showing. The offense was great, and tonight made clear the difference it makes to have so many weapons and to be so well-conditioned - the o line made massive holes for Nguyen. But to hold Liberty hill scoreless in the second half - you could see in their player’s composure as the game wore on and the clock kept ticking - they were shocked. They didn’t expect to not be able to move the ball at will like they usually do, and after that first big run it looked like it could be a long night for png. But that defense stepped up again in a huge way. What a game, what a coaching performance. What a team. If you had told me after game 1 when PAM took us to the woodshed that we would be playing at AT&T I’d have thought you were on drugs.

(1) First game with a new coach; (2) early mistakes threw off their whole game plan, and they weren’t able to respond mentally; (3) Port Arthur came in with a well-oiled machine under an established coach and a lot of returning starters that was ranked in the top ten in 5aD1, perfectly set for taking advantage of every single mistake and matchup problem (of which there were several). The loss looked better and better as the season went on and PAM beat a lot of really good teams. But for the misfortune of having to play Longview in their region, PAM might still be in the playoffs.

This game is reminding me of game against Dayton in 2011. Dayton just kept nailing +40 field goals. I think they had 5 or 6 field goals.

Png needs to tease that play and throw to the flat. It would work.

Nick Gardner just had the most brutal tackle PNG’s done in probably more than 20 years. It’s insane to see png tackling so well.

Png coming out strong. Is this Marshall’s first time to trail in a game since losing in week 1?

Why doesn’t Silsbee ever have a kicking game? Over the years they have lost a few playoff games due to a poor kicking game. Is it that they don’t have a strong soccer program? They could have put this away.

I think most people rightly understand that Fort Bend Marshall is the strong favorite, but know that Port Neches-Groves CAN win if the ball falls their way and they play mistake-free. Stranger things have happened. And, it’s harder to beat a team twice than it is to beat a team once, and PNG only has to win once. Also, PnG got to learn from the loss to FBM. What did FBM learn from PNg? That they were way better than us? Good. Let them come into the game comfortable with that knowledge.
