  1. BH qb is having a night running out of busted plays
  2. What was that? It seemed like something was going on, but it wasn’t clear.
  3. How long will Nederland put up with Barrow producing the same mediocrity? Your question seems to suggest that Nederland is somehow just light years ahead of PNG. I don’t think that’s what you mean, but the question about Nederland coaching applies. My approach isn’t so much “PNG could do worse” (but, PNG COULD do worse). It’s that there is a LOT that Faircloth does right. Not perfect, and sometimes he doesn’t have the athletes we might wish for. But he’s a better coach than Burnett. That’s an easy discussion for me. However, could we find a better coach? Probably. But things could also be much worse. So I think PNG would do well to not off-handedly dismiss a guy who has fielded such a consistently good team. Are we “perennial” state contenders? No. But if that’s the standard very few coaches in Mid-County should be employed.
  4. Exactly - in a close game and you’re in control, and you do every single thing you shouldn’t do. And this PNG team has a tendency to boneheaded decisions. That near-fumble that killed our last meaningful drive when the man in motion passed in front of the snap was just plain stupid. Really hard to see for the team. The defense played lights out tonight, and the offense looked good for three quarters. Then out of the blue we just fall apart.
  5. Then that explains why we lost - PnG’s press box iPads weren’t working
  6. When the tide turned against PNG, dozens of people stood up en masse and started to leave - there were still six minutes in the game. You have to think the players noticed that and it can’t be good for morale, and certainly doesn’t help them get their head back in the game. PNG fans are constantly thumping their chests about how we have the best fans in Texas and honestly tonight it was embarrassing. How hard is it to sit still? Png played well tonight, but tonight we had the worst fans in Texas. Good win, Nederland. Reminded me of PnG’s 2018 win. Fusilier is the real deal, and I’m happy for him to get a MCM win before leaving high school.
  7. Was the internet really bad on the Nederland side? I had zero reception.
  8. The offensive problems for PNG have been downright confusing. The receivers aren’t open and the QB is not accurate. He throws the ball on a tight zipline, but it doesn’t go where it needs to be. But I will say it has seemed that if they just fix one or two things they become a more dangerous group and the season starts looking a lot better. Also, it goes without saying you can throw out records for MCM and anything can happen. Last years’ PNG victory over Nederland looks pretty bizarre given how awful Png’s defense was week in and week out and how well Nederland played down the stretch. But MCM is a different ball game and the two teams play differently in it.
  9. Our defenses weren’t that good prior to Faircloth. We had some solid years (1999, 2003, 2004, 2007) were decent. And we kept teams scores’ generally low even in games we lost. But prior to the 2010s, most teams had an extremely run-heavy offense, which was often easier to contain, or at least to limit the scoreboard from lighting up. I don’t think pre-2010s PNG offenses would have contained modern offenses any better than Faircloth’s defenses have. But it’s true PNG did not respond to modern offenses in any way I would call “consistent.”
  10. I think the NFL is certainly likely - he’s smart, got a good attitude, impresses literally everyone. QB is just a different animal, that’s why there are so few good ones. If he had been determined to play QB, he would have transferred - there are a lot of schools who would have taken him (Julian Edelman played QB for Kent State and got drafted, and played a career, as a receiver for the Patriots). RJ will be fine.
  11. It was 6 in a row. And the answer is “painfully.” It must have really been hard to lose 20 in a row
  12. I’d still like to see him get a chance, but my hunch is Texas decided he wasn’t really going to work at QB, or they might have tried harder to get him back in the QB room. But he could certainly QB against Nederland. The question is how will Nederland handle losing 4 in a row?
  13. I had them ready but the FDA won’t approve them
  14. This is just the appetizer, next week is the actual game week
  15. It has kind of croaked already. Both teams kind of have a sense of “we’re not sure if we’re good yet,” so I’m guessing that has tamped down the trash talk
  16. He’ll demand all the attention, and will be useful as a decoy. Though, given he seems to be the only truly dangerous weapon, Nederland should likely force us to just try to stop him from scoring. Like when PNG had Roschon. Give your best player the ball, especially when he is a step above normal players.
  17. Barrow won in 2017. He's 1-3 against Faircloth. Don't ask Faircloth's record against Neuman.
  18. I think Tomball was good experience for PNG - we were certainly down, but we showed some good things. If we can smooth out the wrinkles we can be 10% better. I don’t think our ceiling is much higher, but that will win us some games.
  19. Receivers aren’t getting open, and when they do get open they aren’t reliably catching the ball — not a lot of clutch plays. And the qb is still not on target.
  20. Some people call it a bye week, but I call it one extra week to talk PNG - Nederland. Let’s get this started.
  21. Good point -- And this is the best team Tomball has had in years.
  22. The offense still looks unimaginative. None of the receivers have game-breaking speed, so I’d expect a more creative play mix. It’s pretty stale.
  23. So we’ll lose 3 district games, make the playoffs and lose in the first, or you think we’ll lose 4 district games?
  24. Definitely not as good as Kendall Briles. But this game has certainly exposed our weaknesses. Good prep for district
