  1. There is a lot they could do with it. I think the stripes is cool. Sort of how the Steelers do it.
  2. I was thinking the same thing. When I was in high school LaMarque was #1 in what is now 5A, and as far as I know they stayed a major state force until at least 2011. They aren't even close to what they used to be.
  3. Laissez les bons temps rouler avec du violet et du blanc.
  4. I miss the all deep-purple look. I hate the gray pants. It should be purple or white.
  5. If you have time, go watch just the highlights from the Crosby/BH game, and then any footage from the BH/PNG game. The Crosby D line blew past the BH line like they weren't there at all. The Crosby D line players don't appear to be particularly large. I don't know what scheme Crosby was running, or how many down linemen. But then look at the PNG game -- almost zero penetration all night. Even though the BH O line is big, there is a way to beat them and it doesn't require being as big. PNG is getting outskilled on D line, not just outmuscled, whereas the Crosby D line outplayed, instead of outmuscling, the BH line.
  6. I agree. Crosby, of course, is the test. I also have a feeling Texas City is still something of a dark horse. They've been solid in the past, and at times have been really good. But I think we can safely assume PNG won't learn that much about itself this week.
  7. There are a few kids on defense delivering licks -- It adds to my frustration about the defense, because the players clearly want to be more aggressive.
  8. PNG refuses to play kids both ways. It's ridiculous. Nederland even had Sage Seay going both ways on several defensive schemes. I can see using a player like Roschon Johnson only on offense, but for most situations I'd play the best kid no matter what. It's how West Orange does things.
  9. Also have to be quicker to the runner -- Any good runner in the district has been guaranteed five yards around the edge on way too many plays.
  10. PNG should be favored. I'm hoping the offense can get moving earlier and eliminate turnovers. Here's also hoping for a defensive improvement. I don't know anything about Kingwood Park.
  11. Based on the size of BH's line, we need to be feeding them more.
  12. Hopefully with experience he will pull it together. Everyone starts somewhere. The original DC left over the summer to move closer to family, so my guess is PNG wasn't in a position to do an extensive search for a DC given the timetable and the COVID situation. So the new DC has been thrown in the frying pan -- But maybe it will lead to him becoming a great coach. This year there are certainly growing pains. Here's hoping we all feel stupid in the future when he gets really good.
  13. Right - this 3-down linemen thing isn't working for PNG. Every single game, no matter which team. It's like watching a replay of the same game every week, because opponents are able to use the exact same plays effectively. It's like we don't have a defensive line at all.
  14. I thought it would happen at last count. BH and Crosby are both among the largest in 5a D2.
  15. The way BH is growing I’d have to guess their window for a deep playoff run is closing in a few years, at least for a while, as I think most expect them to be 5aD1 soon.
  16. All moaning about the outcome aside, without the two turnovers in the first quarter, this would have been a different game (BH knows all about that). However, given how BH was able to move the ball on the ground I still think they would have won - it just might have been more interesting.
  17. exactly - still a lot to prove. BH proved a lot about themselves tonight. There were moments PNG looked solid as well. However, given the size advantage BH has on the lines, it’s hard to think they wouldn’t win again. Some of it was momentum too - opening the game with two big turnovers put PNG in a mental, as well as a points hole. And of course PNG having a nonexistent defensive line means we are going to be at a disadvantage against every even sort of good team we play. It’s been the story all season - PnG is playing with one hand tied behind its back. That we’ve had success at all is a testament to Bost + Co on offense. The defense is abysmal. No one should ever be able to run that consistently against us, but BHs runners chewed up yards 9 or 10 at a time. No open field tackling, no fundamentals, no wrapping up. After six games it’s fairly certain these problems won’t be fixed this season. So we’ll hopefully be the third seed, lose in the first round and march out another good offense next year, with a water polo team for a defense. It’s frustrating because the defensive players are playing tough and hard, but they are completely out of position.
  18. Yeah it’s tough to swallow. The combination of steady population growth plus improved coaching has BH on a strong upward trajectory. It was like watching a bigger version of PNG. The BH qb really impressed tonight with some tough runs - but that offensive line especially gets the game ball.
  19. It’s closer to what we expected at the beginning of the season in any case.
  20. PNG just put up the white flag. No reason to punt if you can’t stop their offense anyway. Might as well go for it
