I think Jacksonville does, but they do it a little faster, I think. They play it a little faster, if I remember.

Texas City wins.

Nederland by three scores.

I’m curious what the last coach did so wrong. All I know is Dayton used to be good, (knocked PNG out of the playoffs at least twice in the last ten years) but it’s been one of the worst teams in the state for about 4 years.
-
It’s going to continue to be a problem. I feel like the players have been in the right position to make a play, but just don’t latch and on like they should.
-
I also want to see more sure open field tackling. I think the defense just needs to move permanently to a 4-3 for the rest of the season. What is clear after four games is that if we can get a body on a runner right at the line of scrimmage we will be okay, but in just about every instance where the runner is able to build up a head of steam (read: anytime the runner makes it to the second level), we are looking at a huge gain, or a touchdown. So far every team has been able to exploit that.

I think PA takes this one.

All indications are this should be a tune-up game for PNG. But PNG has played every team to a one-score finish this year, so I'm wondering if Dayton will be different. My prediction is PNG wins by +10.

PNG finally has a tune-up game! -
I’m excited for this game. Easily the marquee matchup of the week. Are Crosby and BH rivals? They should be. Crosby is a mystery. My gut says they should be favored to win district, but there is still a lot to learn about them. The fact they lost to the teams they lost to isn’t a surprise, and I think everyone knows Crosby is better than their record. But how much better?

I was finally able to watch the video from that angle -- That ball was not clearly uncatchable. "Clearly" is the key to me. The ball "might" not have been caught, but the DB "clearly" pushed the receiver to obstruct the path to the ball, and the ball only looks so far away because of that obstruction. Without that, the receiver would have been able to make a play on the ball. No one, PNG fan or Nederland, wants the game to go on a penalty, but the idea that there wasn't interference is not defensible, in my opinion.

I’m out of reactions, but that’s funny.

Is there a way for both coaches to file a complaint about the officiating crew? They may be the worst overall I’ve ever seen. They never seemed to know what they wanted to do, and they appeared determined to make the game and the outcome about themselves. I don’t know if there is a process for that, or what that process would be.

I absolutely think both Ned and PNG can beat Barbers Hill. I’m not sure about Crosby.

Mazyck was unstoppable. Without that fumble it was all over for png

I just realized that. Nederland hardly rushed Bost at all. My guess would be Barrow was trying to keep guys in front of him -- and it worked for limiting his running, because he was barely able to get loose at all the whole night. But it meant he had time to throw. That's a good observation.

I’m not in charge. I understand the feeling. I hope you stay. It’s a good crowd.
-
Calling out a player by number with such a baseless accusation - that he intentionally injured another player - strikes me as a violation of the rules of the forum, not that I’m in charge. It’s also libel.
-
If PNG should be embarrassed, how should Nederland feel? Give me a break, it was a hard fought, good game, and someone has to lose. I’d say both teams should be proud.
-
It was an entertaining game. You hate to see someone lose it. See ya’ll next year and good luck to the Bulldogs the rest of the season.
-
Even the announcers on texanlive said that penalty was impossible to miss. It's not like the refs are required to keep their flags in their pocket with an obvious penalty just because it's a game changer.
-
Barrow gifted that last timeout to PNG. I think he got in his own head, playing chess too much. I can understand wanting to make sure your defense is settled though.
-
Officials nitpicked PNG the entire game. I don't have a lot of sympathy for anyone claiming the officiating was against Nederland. That last penalty was significant, but the officials were AWFUL all night, and Nederland benefitted from it as well. In the end, PNG made one more play. That's almost always how this game goes. And as poorly as PNG tackled, Nederland had plenty of chances to score.

PNG wins 22-21. Respect to Nederland.
