  1. I think they'd have to be ready for pitchforks and guillotines if they want to cancel high school football in Texas.
  2. I'm curious as to why -- I believe you, I'm just wondering how the mechanics work. I have spent nearly all of my adult life living away from SETX, nearly always too far to drive in. I would happily pay a per-game price higher than stadium admissions to be able to watch the games live. I'd imagine there would be other people who would do so as well. The only thing I can think of is there not being enough people like me. I know it would not be in the millions, or even the thousands, but it could be higher than we might expect. And then throw in advertising dollars. Of course, not all fan bases are necessarily that big. But streaming PNG games would do "okay" - I'd at least like to see it tried out so we can have some raw numbers to compare vs cost of streaming. I'd guess streaming a game with good quality internet and good commentary (which isn't actually necessary, but it can be nice) isn't cheap, but with enough viewers AND the inevitable advertising benefits, it could be worthwhile for the schools. It is an opportunity to capture money from people who otherwise wouldn't be going to the games and spending money at all. I'm thinking, at a minimum, stream Mid-County Madness. They might not get a lot of viewers for other games, but I bet a LOT of people would pay to see that one every year. At least more than a thousand.
  3. I'm hoping Nederland gets a similar deal so Mid-County Madness can be aired.
  4. There are buckets of money to be made by these schools if streaming were available full-time.
  5. Yep. If you got the ball in his zip code he would catch it.
  6. His senior season was 2011, so he'd be 26 or 27 now.
  7. I could see Vidor beating Silsbee, but I think the impression that Silsbee starts slow is mostly because they usually start against much bigger schools or against highly ranked 4a schools (or even solid 5a teams). I think Vidor will not be such a problem for Silsbee.
  8. The UIL, as most are aware, announced that regular-season game video broadcasts will be allowed this season due to COVID. Have there been any announcements as to what streaming services will be available, which schools will be participating, etc? Will TexanLive be involved? Have any schools said they will NOT be broadcasting?
  9. That field is going to be gorgeous
  10. He was, but a couple years ago he moved to PNG. I think he was a receivers’ coach for PNG last year
  11. It's interesting Jayce is the defensive coordinator. I'm not knocking the decision, but this is a new assignment isn't it? And of course his player background was on offense. Hope it goes well for him and the team. I predict this game will be similar to the 2016 PAM-PNG game. Memorial's defense will control the game for most of the game. I think PNG scores once in the first half and goes down by about two touchdowns, but comes back in the second half to make it a close game. Hopefully PNG ends up on top of that score.
  12. I don't think Carthage will have any trouble this year. They are going to donkey stomp their way through a 16-0 season.
  13. I think PNG has a few receivers back from last year.
  14. Please tell me that's a mistake. The phrase is "purple and white" above "indians."
  15. PNG has the toughest schedule they've had in years.
  16. PNG and Nederland should play each other for preseason and the regular season. Double Madness.
  17. I would think PAM would be favored against all three.
  18. Someone suggested changing the name to the PNG Golf Carts. I kind of like it -- Every time I'm in Groves or Port Neches there are ten year olds driving golf carts around.
  19. Very, very sad. Sorry to hear it.
  20. I think this judge should be forced to recuse himself. Judges are not supposed to be interested parties in their cases, and this one has turned himself into the ONLY interested party in this case, as the defense and the prosecution both support dismissing it. And, even after the higher court orders him to dismiss the case he refuses to do so? I hope he gets sanctions.
  21. Elections are literally popularity contests, and have always been so.
  22. If you are trying to get ahead of the story and you think it clears your name, releasing a video is a good idea whether or not you have a guilty conscience.
  23. What about the "Blue Chain"? Its (1) easier to say, and (2) more intimidating than "Blue Link," and (3) actually references the TEAM aspect of a good defense.
  24. The "Blue Link" is a stupid name, regardless of what it is replacing. Mustangs' defense went from having the most intimidating name in the area to having what sounds like a bad attempt at innuendo. The players have got to be furious.
