There is a lot more to it. Ill leave it at that. But I will say yes they should just let him play. The kid is a good kid not matter the situation.

I’m curious what more there is, unless it would be in bad taste to share here.

Yes. He was a sophomore last  year.

Wait — this kid moved over a year ago? Let him play. I don’t know the full background to this story, but it seems to me that the transfer rules exist to prevent opportunistic moves that would arise in a recruiting-type situation. If a kid actually moves for that long, I can’t imagine what the real hang up is. There is no rule against really moving, even if the move is partially or even fully motivated by a kid wanting to play somewhere. If a kid moves because he wants to be in a certain school’s marching band, does anyone even care? Students are allowed their preferences. I think enforcement of these rules has gotten beyond the original intended scope. But there are certainly things I don’t know. Without more, this sounds ridiculous.

  3. All I’ll say is 1) the season ain’t over, 2) Bulldogs still might beat PNG, and 3) if it really is that bad, it will only be for a year. Remember PNG in 2012 (2-8). The seniors were terrible, but the guys below knew what to do to make it work the next year.

Unless PNG and Ned are leading the district everyone wants to call it weaek. Last year we were only better because PNG had boy wonder:) BH I hope can get over the hump and beat PNG, but for this week we must stay focused on a pretty good Gander squad

You read my mind as I was typing haha

Lol, you’re correct, thus my use of the word “might”.

Many have stated on here that the Dist is very weak.  I doubt we match up with some very strong Districts, but do you think it’s any weaker than in the past?  Obviously  Crosby & Santa Fe (and Ned?) are, but Lee is better, and IMO, Vidor is better than most expected.

I don’t know that we are weaker than previous seasons. I think people are equating mainstays like Nederland and Crosby being down with the district overall being down. Just because Vidor is better than Crosby or just because Nederland is not as good as BH isn’t sufficient to say the district is down — Maybe Vidor and BH are just good this year? All that aside, and to answer your question, the district is a middle of the road district most of the time. If Crosby, PNG, Nederland, and Dayton were all at strength, it would certainly be one of the most competitive in the state. But even then, we’d still be merely above average, not up there with the big dogs. But there are only ever a few big dogs. The truth that gets lost in the quest for a championship is that most teams in the state are terrible. So even though our district reps will be knocked out usually in the 2nd to 3rd round by teams that totally outclass us, that’s because the top is a crowded place. We talk down on our local teams too much.  And I know people will say i’m celebrating mediocrity - i’m not. I’m acknowledging the success we have in the quest to overcome mediocrity. There’s a difference, for sure. State is the goal, but the journey is part of it.

The Eagles win this one going away.  Lee will romp and stomp on those they can, but when confronted by a good team, not so much.  And it appears BH might be the cream of the crop in this District.

That remains to be seen until November 1. BH has never beaten PNG, in multiple meetings. Until they do, my money is on PNG.

They ran the wishbone on the 1st series against PNG then got away from it. I'm staying optimistic about the Bulldogs for the playoffs but the things I'm hearing about this team off the field not good.

What exactly is the cause? I keep reading people saying that Nederland is “not good,” and they are clearly struggling, but my thought on the end of last season was that Nederland would be really good with so much youth contributing on varsity last year. Are they small? Unathletic? Slow? Fighting in the locker room? (Just thinking of examples). Seems like the team not working well together is something that can be overcome if the talent is there.

I think the only posts hoping for a Crosby win are the Vidor fans. Trust me, Crosby fans haven’t bought in to the junior high offensive scheme.

By the way, are we talking with or without iPads ?

Everyone gets a complimentary iPad. PNG hospitality. Guests are asked to send live video directly to the press box and we pinky promise not to use any of the video playback during the game.

I believe the 1331 that was Pre Hurricane Harvey but I could be wrong.

The count was done after Harvey. They released the cutoff numbers in fall 2017, and the count was the following spring, I think. I’m 100% sure on when the cutoff numbers were released, though, unless it was a cutoff for something different.

I know my son was upset, they really wanted to beat PNG. He feels like it might be the last time we play them and he might be right depending on what happens next year.

Aren’t the schools just about exactly  the same size? I can’t imagine we stop playing Vidor ever. We’ve been playing for nearly a century. We’ll just play in the preseason if not in the same district.
