"Lack of acclimation period" is the lamest reason to-date I've heard for postponing/reformatting a game, much less a rivalry game. I guarantee the players want this to game to happen.

Realistically, given seating restrictions, can a non-season ticket holder show up on game day and get in?

the port neches people are making the groves people sit on the visitor side now?
it's the Groves people refusing to sit with the Port Neches people. Ever since TPC we don't feel safe around them anymore

Strange they called it. Seems like I remember a game a few years ago delayed by weather, and it was near midnight before they resumed.
But I’m a tad bit senile, so I could be wrong. Cest la vie.
Maybe because Vidor and PNG was a district game last year is why they stuck it out? That game went until past midnight, didn't it? With a 1 1/2 hour halftime?

I'm not sure what the UIL rules are in this situation. Is it really going to count since they didn't get to halftime? I'll take it either way, but Silsbee had Uncle Mo on their side at the end. Playing it out could have gone either way.
It was turning into a great game

yep
Well, congrats to Jasper for winning what amounts to a glorified scrimmage.

Does it count if they only play less than 2 quarters?

Silsbee looked terrible in that first bit, but they were flipping a switch to turn it into an awesome game. Jasper looks solid.
-
Will this game be streamed? If so, does anyone know what site?

Silsbee big

Roschon is listed as the RB 1 on the latest Longhorns depth chart. He's killing it in camp.

I think they'd have to be ready for pitchforks and guillotines if they want to cancel high school football in Texas.

Not as much money as you think there is. Trust me.
I'm curious as to why -- I believe you, I'm just wondering how the mechanics work. I have spent nearly all of my adult life living away from SETX, nearly always too far to drive in. I would happily pay a per-game price higher than stadium admissions to be able to watch the games live. I'd imagine there would be other people who would do so as well. The only thing I can think of is there not being enough people like me. I know it would not be in the millions, or even the thousands, but it could be higher than we might expect. And then throw in advertising dollars. Of course, not all fan bases are necessarily that big. But streaming PNG games would do "okay" - I'd at least like to see it tried out so we can have some raw numbers to compare vs cost of streaming. I'd guess streaming a game with good quality internet and good commentary (which isn't actually necessary, but it can be nice) isn't cheap, but with enough viewers AND the inevitable advertising benefits, it could be worthwhile for the schools. It is an opportunity to capture money from people who otherwise wouldn't be going to the games and spending money at all.
I'm thinking, at a minimum, stream Mid-County Madness. They might not get a lot of viewers for other games, but I bet a LOT of people would pay to see that one every year. At least more than a thousand.

Just got confirmation that Texan Live will be broadcasting home games only for PN-G.
I'm hoping Nederland gets a similar deal so Mid-County Madness can be aired.

I wish local news stations would do the big game of the week Live on TV or even a live video stream on their respective internet websites. Willing to pay to watch some of the games. They could do a price per game or even a season pass and you get all the games...
There are buckets of money to be made by these schools if streaming were available full-time.

That kid made catching on double coverage a routine.
Yep. If you got the ball in his zip code he would catch it.

How old Is Nelson? Seems like a big task for a young guy.
His senior season was 2011, so he'd be 26 or 27 now.

I could see them beating Silsbee cause Silsbee normally starts their season off slow, but Jasper?? 👀 ....eh...i don't know about that one.
I could see Vidor beating Silsbee, but I think the impression that Silsbee starts slow is mostly because they usually start against much bigger schools or against highly ranked 4a schools (or even solid 5a teams). I think Vidor will not be such a problem for Silsbee.

The UIL, as most are aware, announced that regular-season game video broadcasts will be allowed this season due to COVID. Have there been any announcements as to what streaming services will be available, which schools will be participating, etc? Will TexanLive be involved? Have any schools said they will NOT be broadcasting?

That field is going to be gorgeous

He was, but a couple years ago he moved to PNG. I think he was a receivers’ coach for PNG last year

It's interesting Jayce is the defensive coordinator. I'm not knocking the decision, but this is a new assignment isn't it? And of course his player background was on offense. Hope it goes well for him and the team. I predict this game will be similar to the 2016 PAM-PNG game. Memorial's defense will control the game for most of the game. I think PNG scores once in the first half and goes down by about two touchdowns, but comes back in the second half to make it a close game. Hopefully PNG ends up on top of that score.

Why is BU able to unilaterally cancel (effectively) a football game? Does it count as a forfeit?
