They a lot bias but they know the game and keep it entertaining too
I enjoyed their commentary. Even with the bias. I like their tone and attitude.

Anyone else having trouble with Texanlive? Trying to watch and website seems to be having problems.

Wish I could go to this game!!

I think there defense is pretty good. Yes PNG scores 35 on them but other than Magnolia that was as much as they gave up this season according to MaxPreps.
Whitehouse put up 24, but looking at box score one TD was on Kick off return. Other than that they allowed 17.
i think they are a well rounded team. Of course, this is my opinion based on stats I have seen.
I don’t mean their defense is bad- I mean it is the one weakness that stands out. They are still well-positioned to move on.
-
Barbers Hill’s biggest weakness is that defense. Otherwise they are about as complete as a team would want to be.
-
I think BH can beat Manvel. They won’t be the favorite, but it’s not out of reach
-
Sorry for that Crosby - Good game and a good showing.
-
I’m sure everyone is hoping BH can take down Manvel next week! Tall order. It’s a game I want to see.

What about Huntsville’s defense? I know Crosby’s offense has improved since the beginning of the season, but can they move the ball against that defense?

I don’t think anyone pull a for sale sign in the head coaches yard! #GLASSHOUSE
You’re talking about one or two idiots who were immediately and unequivocally lambasted from all sides, most forcefully by PNG fans. And you’re talking about a fanbase that has been loyal for nearly a century, through all kinds of success and failure. Crosby had about five minutes of success and became so unbearably obnoxious that it’s now something of a joke; then Crosby had about five minutes of failure and collectively lost its mind. Now things are looking ok and suddenly it’s the Mecca all over again.
And, it’s not a glass house, it’s a teepee, and it’s holding up fine. Good luck in the playoffs, we’ll always be back next year.
All success to Crosby come Friday. -

We are picked 2 lose every week. WE are the only team that NO one roots for without saying yea but I dot think Crosby will win... NETCAT THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!
The biggest detractors against Crosby this season have been Crosby fans themselves. I’ve never seen a fan base get so immediately hostile to a program. It’s like Crosby’s ability to keep people excited about football is directly related to Crosby’s ability to manage a budget.

Crosby is playing well, and I appreciate your optimism. Who are the best defenses in Crosby’s district? Maybe Barbers Hill, or PNG. Crosby scores 7 on BH and 13 on PNG. Yet, the Coogs are going to drop 42 on Huntsville. The most points Huntsville has given up all year is 29 and they have played 6 playoff teams. Most likely, the Huntsville DL will be living in the Crosby backfield and Code Red will be looking to make a Code Blue. Huntsville wins this one.
And Crosby’s offense only got one touchdown against PNG, the other was on a fumble recovery. To be fair, however, Crosby seems to be playing better. A whole different team. So who knows. I still think Huntsville wins it. The defense is too good.

So just for a re-cap: Manvel goes TO Hall Stadium and beats FB Marshall who was ranked #2 at the time giving them the best win in the state. They beat 12-5A’s 4th place team by 35, they were only up 3 points entering the 4th quarter on the own district’s 4th place team. Yet, you somehow agree that Nederland looked good and Manvel looks vulnerable? Got it.
“Good” and “vulnerable,” like all words, take meaning from the context around them. Thank you for providing more context. “Good” doesn’t mean “great,” “best,” or “won the game last night.” It means they made a stronger showing than I thought they would, and, at times, seemed to be in a position to keep up. Of course Nederland was outmatched. No one is doubting that. “Good” just means “not bad.” They played a tough game, took some hard hits, gave some hard hits, and for a few drives ran right through Manvel.
As for “vulnerable,” I of course don’t mean that Manvel looked vulnerable to Nederland. As you read my comment, you know I was referring to Manvel’s vulnerability to other teams in the region. Manvel showed weaknesses last night that I think will bury them in these playoffs.

Is there a location for this game yet?
-
I was able to watch on Texan live and honestly, Nederland looked good. Really impressed with the run game. Manvel Just had too many weapons. Some of the play calling was suspect, especially in the long Nederland drive in the third quarter. Overall, my takeaway is Manvel looked vulnerable. I don’t think they will win the region.

Montana could have took a D1 offer but he chose another path and that’s fine but I think he tore an ACL during his mission time away from the game. I could be wrong but I heard it was a sandy beach type of backyard football game and that was the end of that.
That is tough

Has BH ever won a playoff game in its current size classification (old 4a, current 5a)? I can’t remember if they won the first round last year.

Gotcha. K.
And, to clarify: I don’t want to make it sound like the guy is a failure. Sometimes it’s a question of priorities as opposed to abilities. I have family in Vidor who know him and last I heard he is happily married and doing great.

If my memory serves me correct. Montana quirante (spelling). I think he had a d1 offer from Baylor. Several years back but he went into missionary work instead.
please correct me if I’m wrong
Montana quirante went on a two-year mission for his church. However, a lot of guys do that and if they are recruitable they still go on and play ball in college. I read at least one article where he expressed an intention to walk on at BYU after his mission, but nothing apparently came of that. I’m sure he could have gone to some smaller program like Middle Tennessee or something like that, but if you say flat out at the beginning of the recruiting process that you only want to go to one school, it’s hard to get looks. I don’t think he was a true big-school prospect. It’s not like coaches don’t know where to find you if you’re good. Caveat: I’m not an insider, I’m just remembering what I read back when he was playing.
Silsbee Vs Wimberley
in High School Football
Posted
Who has Wimberley played? Silsbee has played West Orange twice, Newton, Nederland, PNG. Granted, Silsbee went 2-5 against that group, and Nederland and PNG didn’t exactly have their very best years, but the competition explains why Silsbee’s stats might be a little depressed relative to Wimberley’s. Silsbee has played big schools and where they didn’t play big schools they played very good teams. Even with the weak district competition, Silsbee has faced a tough season.
