  1. The count was done after Harvey. They released the cutoff numbers in fall 2017, and the count was the following spring, I think. I’m 100% sure on when the cutoff numbers were released, though, unless it was a cutoff for something different.
  2. The official number in 2017 was in about 1400. Are these numbers since then?
  3. Aren’t the schools just about exactly the same size? I can’t imagine we stop playing Vidor ever. We’ve been playing for nearly a century. We’ll just play in the preseason if not in the same district.
  4. That BH v PNG game is setting up to be huge.
  5. Your’re right, thanks. I thought they hit 28 before the half, but it was 28-21 at the half, and silsbee scores early to tie it. 14 still shows a stronger second half than the first. Now just need to get those adjustments made sooner. Also, Tomball scored all 9 of their points in the second half.
  6. Png defense still hasn’t allowed more than a touchdown in the second half this season. Allowed one touchdown to Silsbee, none to Huntsville (small victory given the 27 allowed in the first), 1 to Tomball (I think the field goal came in the first half), 1 to Baytown lee, and zero to vidor.
  7. Vidor players earned a ton of respect tonight.
  8. No one wants a game with the refs so involved. Leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
  9. Why would it be a sloppy field? Are we playing in Nederland?
  10. Sorry, big dog- my comment posted right as yours did.
  11. It’s not the announcer’s job to try to influence the game, in my opinion. The game is played on the field.
  12. This reminds me of 2013 when Png played LCM. Everything felt off the whole game. Wasn’t a good night.
  13. Thank goodness Nederland is so good this year.
  14. Nederland needs to get a full “ant” mascot costume and have the mascot walk around on the BH sideline, cheering on the team like it is supposed to be there.
  15. I'm going with Beaumont United. No reason why, just feel an upset in the air. This might be one of the bigger games in the state this week. Undefeated state finalist vs undefeated up-and-comer. It's a game I'd like to see.
  16. Dayton is favored by 1 on Dave Campbell's. Crosby is the favorite in my book. Angry about last week, maybe a little more focused. Crosby by ten.
  17. Does Nederland have turf yet? I thought it was supposed to be done by now. Coach Barrow is going to be googling “Sprinkler system for turf,” when they do get it, in any case.
  18. I hope they keep passing throughout the season. If they only pass when they are desperate and down in the score, that’s just a recipe for interceptions. They need to pass enough in-game under normal game conditions to start to build confidence between the QB and the receiver. And with the run game being solid, a crisp passing and receiving corps could change everything about how teams have to defend Vidor. PNG in ‘09, when they were undefeated in district and lost to the eventual state runner-up in a close playoff game, ran on about half their plays and mostly threw short, safe passes. No reason Vidor can’t do that.
  19. I have to confess, you being a man is news to me. I have been seeing png9mom the entire time. Welcome back to manhood, bro!
  20. I'm sure we could take up a fundraiser to get you a purple shirt.
  21. Rankings both mean “nothing” and “something” at the same time. They don’t tell you who will win the game on Friday, but they do give you a reasonable prediction of who might. That is, rankings mean nothing for some purposes, but they are helpful for other purposes, especially if you happened to not know much about any of the teams. I’d say being on the list tells us more than where on the list you are. Looking at the top ten, knowing nothing about any of the teams, you would be highly confident that #1 would beat nearly any team in the state in that classification. You would be less confident saying #1 would beat #2, because they are likely too closely matched to make a strong prediction. And, you would be more confident saying that #1 would beat #10 than you would be saying that, for example, #9 would beat #10. All that being said, everyone knows Huntsville is better than PNG, but Huntsville also lost two games in a row (albeit to really good teams) and rankings always punish losses. That’s a big way rankings are not helpful- they don’t seem to factor in who you lost to. On the other hand, most two-loss teams would drop out of the top ten, so maybe Huntsville is getting credit for its quality of losses. Just thinking out loud.
  22. He just had to turn the iPads on for them. They could operate the iPads by themselves.
  23. The other defense will be like “Are they allowed to do that?”
