How is Vidor doing? Moving the ball?

JV scores do show where the talent is, but it doesn't always translate to the varsity level. When I was in high school, PNG's freshman and JV teams would always dominate, but that didn't mean we dominated in varsity. That being said, I'm not arguing that doing well at the JV level absolutely does not mean you won't do well on varsity, only that it is not a guarantee. As we all know, different variables come into play for JV and Varsity. One good example, I remember soundly defeated WO-S my freshman year, then again at JV, but we lost at the varsity level the following year.

Who is "they"?

How is PAM's line play (offense and defense)? If RJ is forced into mistakes and pressure situations, I could see a few interceptions making a difference in PAM's favor. I think defensively PNG will be up to the task, at least in the fact that the Indians tackle better than any team the Titans have played so far. Which isn't to say that Memorial hasn't played anyone, just that PNG has some really decent, hard-hitting guys who wrap up. PNG will really need the offensive line to protect and open up some holes to extend drives. It seems to me that PAM makes a lot of mistakes. That could be key.

Playoffs start next week for PNG-- PAM will show us our weaknesses. Go Indians.

Listening to the game: What happened with the PNG extra point? Blocked, or did we go for two? You have to be kidding me, either way.

Sorry for Laday and the rest of the Bulldogs. They don't deserve this. Their coach screwed up, not them. Wish Laday could go play back in Memorial. The way I see it, a kid has an address somewhere. If he isn't eligible at Nederland, let him play in Port Arthur.

Two passing touchdowns in a season is not a "newly acquired passing attack".

The thing that scares me about Nederland (and PAM better watch out for it) is that Neumann might be the best in the area for using tough losses to strengthen his team. Vidor won the game on Friday, but it in some ways it is a "victory" (using the word lightly) for Nederland because they have had to scratch it out in a very, very tough loss. They will face PAM as a more mature, tough, battle-tested team than last week, and that will show throughout the rest of the season. I don't think Nederland beats Memorial, but expect an evolved Nederland team to use the Vidor loss in an incredible way to be better down the stretch. Nederland is like a monster that gets stronger the more you hit it. I almost wish Nederland had had an easy victory over Vidor, or had been blown out by Vidor, because this close fight gives them experience that will pay dividends down the road, at least through the regular season.

Slightly off-topic, but not really: Can someone please teach Harold Mann how to pronounce "Quirante"? While we're at it, "Celaya", not "Celalya".

Our DB height is a serious problem that faster, bigger schools will eat up. It was clear in the scrimmage against West Orange.

Definitely agree on the comments about K.M.. He is invaluable to the PNG team, no matter what he is doing. Grateful he's an Indian.

What is going on with the PNG kicking game?

Not to dog on McZeal, because despite it all he is a very important part of the PNG team, but man, I wish he had a little more Jayce Nelson/Kaleb Sparks/Jeremiah Rose/Spencer Deron/Caisen Sullivan etc in him. Those guys would catch anything in their zip code and kill themselves to get it done. I wish McZeal showed a little more fire. Again, he is a fantastic player and athlete, but I wish he was more reliable as a receiver. I think I agree with Broschon that he might be more effective at TE. Open up the middle for us for sure.

Most people on this site don't use proper grammar. Let's not be too harsh on 99. Most of the ones criticizing his grammar are not exactly stellar examples of the King's English. This is the internet, where everyone sounds like they never went to school, so it shouldn't be a surprise that one person uses too many commas. The subject is football, not English.

Rankings are stupid until about week five (only because by then we have an idea of they are even sort of accurate, and they are stupid again after week 11.

Good observations. Lumberton has the pieces to make it a game, and there is certainly no predicting what will happen on a given night. Good luck to both teams.

Where is the evidence that Lumberton has a "decent" D? Lumberton has played one full game against a school with less than 600 kids (and isn't WO-S), a school that is a perennial bottom feeder in its own classification. PNG already has shown the ability to make stops against good backs when it matters, so I don't know what indications exist that PNG won't stop Lumberton's run game. There isn't a Calvin Tyler playing for Lumberton, and even if there was, we would be okay. Lumberton may be better than recent years -- Maybe even better than last year. But Lumberton is unproven, and history is not on its side (Lumberton is 1-16 against PNG all time, and that one victory was in a year where PNG went 3-6). Think about that-- At Lumberton's best (2008), they managed to beat one of PNG's worst by a mere seven points. Statistics don't win games, but they are at least an interesting indicator of potential future outcomes. In the series, PNG has outscored Lumberton 656-238. PNG averages 38.6 ppg against Lumberton. Lumberton averages 14. Last year, when Lumberton finally looked like it might be turning a corner, PNG scored easily and often. Lumberton will have to stop PNG's QB, running back, receivers, and o-line, all of whom have demonstrable ability to produce. Lumberton also has to somehow overpower a PNG defensive line that has been fairly successful against much faster backs than what Lumberton has waiting in the stables. I'll admit, I haven't seen Lumberton play, but I did get a chance to see PNG against WO-S in August (scrimmage) -- PNG can hang with the run. It may be a good game -- It might also be incredibly boring.
