Man looking at the 0-4 for vidor looks terrible. Totally misleading. I mean looking at it, minus bh we were single digits away from Crosby png and Sante fe. Close close games. I hate that the 0-4 looks so bad for those boys.

I'm going to talk trash on behalf of Crosby: Crosby is the greatest football team in the world. Nay, the universe. BH is unworthy to touch the same grass as Crosby players. I demand that BH apologize for even accepting the opportunity to play against Crosby. The world will feel the wrath of Crosby, and it will be God's justice on the inferior and incapable BH.
Jk, jk. All of that aside, I am fully confident that Crosby will get back to business against BH and win. Crosby is still an extremely dangerous team. Everyone knows that things could have gone differently against PNG. And it's hard to get your head in the game after a huge letdown loss the week before -- For all we know, Santa Fe would go differently for Crosby if they played again. I think Crosby will put things together against BH.

You are so right. The band playing Cherokee is causing us to play terrible defense. Emailing the band director now.

I agree with the "more evenly matched" position. Looking at it from the PNG perspective: In the old district, we had (give or take the year) Livingston, Lumberton, Baytown Lee, Goose Creek Memorial, and Ozen. These tended to be predictable wins, most years, for PNG. When LCM was in the district, we ALMOST always beat them. Livingston, Lumberton, and Ozen were barely big enough to even be in our district, and are now in the lower classification. Throw in Vidor being a win for PNG in the vast majority of our matchups, and we end up with most district games in the old district being relatively easy wins for PNG.
Some years it was different. Livingston took us to the woodshed in 2011. Vidor got us in 2012. So I'm not saying every year was the same, or that these teams were pushovers. I'm just saying PNG tended to take care of business against most teams in our district, and the scores were often quite lopsided. Then we'd get to the playoffs get hit in the mouth.
In recent years, the mostly respectable teams in our district were Central, Nederland, and PNG, and those teams were more or less guaranteed to make the playoffs. The two years Memorial was in the district were great years, in my opinion, because it increased the competition so much. We no longer had to wait until the playoffs to face playoff competition. Memorial made us better.
Now the district has so much parity. It's a good thing. Yeah, PNG has had to play close games, and we've given up so many points. But the district isn't a cakewalk anymore. Instead of having four-to-five opponents being predictable wins for PNG, none of the games are. It makes it tough for teams to make the playoffs and that meat grinder will help us in the playoffs. Prediction: District 12-5a II will represent well in the playoffs. We're going to have some deep runs out of this district.

Don't sleep on Santa Fe.. I did, and boy was I wrong. Sitting there like Rocky in his first match with Clubber Lang. Come out swinging, next thing you know you're knocked out and your trainer dies. (2nd part didn't happen in the Vidor game though)

But seriously. Santa Fe was impressive. The offensive playcalling was well executed. Their receivers don't drop a lot of passes. QB can sling it, or run. and their defense is speedy and decent sized.
Shug has a clutch ability, so you never want to rule out the purple Indians.
I'll pick PNG...just because they play Cherokee louder than Santa Fe does.
If we all have a personal hell awaiting us...I think a glimpse of mine would be in PNG's stadium this Friday. 3 hours of a continuous Cherokee loop. Better change my ways.

Oh contraire.  Your post went on to accuse Vidor of being a Nederland wanna-be.  If I lived in Vidor, and was a wanna-be, why not a Highland Park wanna-be?  Or a Carthage wanna-be?  Those two pile up SC’s like they’re giving them away at Wal-Mart.  And also, I’ve seen or heard nothing of anyone’s halftime performance rivaling Vidor’s.  It’s possible there are some, but I’m not aware of them.  Again, why you said Vidor copied Ned’s is beyond me.  And you wonder why Vidor didn’t choose Lumberton as a rival?  How long has Vidor played Ltown?  Not that many years.  As someone posted earlier, with all the new classifications, and schools constantly changing, there will be very few “Rivalries” created in the future.
And since you obviously didn’t google “tongue in cheek”, it’s a humorous or sarcastic statement expressed in a mock serious manner.  Vidor vs Ned is not a rivalry, but since Ned has defeated Vidor so many times over the years, I’m fairly certain the Vidor fans would love to beat Nederland more than most any other team.  Nederland wanna-be - not hardly.  Wanna-beat Nederland - no doubt, although it rarely happens.

No, I am just saying I see y’all’s glass half full not half empty. I would think the coaches are trying to put the most lethal team out on the field as they can. They do get paid to coach and win. At some point if they don’t do both then they will get let go. That would motivate me to do my best as a coach. Just sayin enjoy the ride maybe the defense will catch up.

We got one of the best coaches we could utilize for D coach but he quit after FC came! Mike Arnaud is an excellent coach but he is there just supporting the kids! Last year I seen a text message from one of the D coaches telling one of the kids he could read the plays better he tackled better but the kid in his place was just little faster! That doesn’t make sense to me play the kids that can tackle and can read the plays what does speed do if they want to arm tackle! We need kids on D that is aggressive and will tackle! Nederland is gonna eat us up at the Reservation if something doesn’t change with our defense! Year after year is the same issues! No adjustments made week after week! Last year that’s why we lost to Nederland defense couldn’t hang with their passing game! Maybe we need to suit RJ both ways! Not really don’t want to risk him getting hurt but we could use a couple more kids with his passion for the game!

Proenza and Ceja are getting better every game. Both have stepped up and made some great plays. With the tight games we've been in, the team has shown composer and fight. They get it done. Might be ugly at times, but they get it done.

The difference is Nederland lets kids go both ways. You have receivers that play DBs and running backs play LBs and etc.. The kids at Nederland maybe besides the Qb, have an offense of position and a defense position, which they practice at weekly. PNG kids when they get into the program they are divided up between offense and defense of guys, every once a while a guy might flip. When they flip they are not as good as they could have been because of years of not getting those skills developed for that side of the ball. JMO

Re: 100+ teachers and/or coaches being laid off. This is why I never judge coaches for leaving schools for better opportunities. People have to worry about their own families and prospects. When the coaches and the schools negotiate, they do so at arm's length, and nothing is expected from either party beyond fulfillment of that contract. Schools (college and high schools) burn their employees all the time, either through mismanagement, or just plain stupidity. If a coach has a couple bad years, everyone is calling for their job. But we are often much more ready to condemn coaches when they choose go somewhere else, as if they have "let down the kids," or the school, or the community, etc. If a coach or a teacher thinks they have a better chance to succeed somewhere else, even if it is only because they think they can get more money, I say more power to them -- For all they know their school will be bankrupt next year.

Folks Dayton will be back just like we here at PNG there are lean times that come around. Then one day your sitting at home a buddy calls and says hey man have you heard about the 8 th grader on the football team? You say no. He says man they have been smoking everyone all year. This one kid is a super stud. Next thing there is excitement in the community. A couple of years later you smoke through district and a nice run of playoff runs roll through. Dayton I promise you the DNA is there it will come back around and I predict not far down the road. Hold your heads up and lean on a stellar 20 years run that not to many could match up to. Good luck my purple brothers and sisters

Nothing but respect for Dayton. They knocked us out the playoffs in 2011 and 2014. I don't know what the series record is, but Dayton is scary, no matter what season it is and no matter what their record shows. PNG wins in a tough game against a team with nothing to lose. Let's hope both teams escape injury free.
