Rez reacted to Mr. Buddy Garrity in Needville (52) vs Lumberton (28) - FINAL
Lumberton made a bunch of mistakes and 2 boneheaded ones, I'll discuss later on or tomorrow. I hate that they lost. Needville is damn good though.

Can anyone reasonably doubt that if Nederland had PNG's coaching staff that Nederland would look DRAMATICALLY different?!

Rez got a reaction from PN-G bamatex in Leander Rouse vs PN-G Legacy Stadium Katy Texas Next Friday
I watched LR’s first-round game on YouTube. Setting normal caveats for “anything can happen” and “we might not be as good as we think,” I’m predicting a fairly routine victory for PNG. LR has some serious speed on offense. They run a straightforward spread. They remind me of Nederland or Dayton, but better. But, not much better. They don’t do anything on offense we haven’t faced before (Brenham is better, among Texas City, West Orange, FBM, and, of course PAM). Their o-line is going to be asking for oxygen tanks by the third quarter. And, they simply don’t play defense. Their plan is to hope they score 50 while hoping you score 48. That’s a bad recipe for facing the PNG o-line and D.

@spidersal you are definitely correct and at first I thought you was against them, but know I see you know exactly what you are talking about. I hate this for them

I have no doubt whatsoever that Nederland could be just as good as PnG with an equal coaching staff. That’s what PNG’s experiment shows - Success at this level isn’t genetic. It’s not about just “having a good crop of boys this year.” It’s coached, created, engineered, taught. The encouraging thing is it doesn’t have to take a long time. Nederland seems to have replaced Neuman with a “rah rah” coaching staff hoping their boys will simply out-gumption the other team. This year especially, the lack of teaching is obvious. A new coaching staff could come in and say, “Every single thing you’re doing now, we’re going to do differently.” A year from now we could be talking about a completely transformed, terrifying Nederland team. Granted, PNG’s current staff inherited a solid, well-coached, enthusiastic Faircloth team and built from there. Nederland might need to get some kids back into the program, but once that happens there’s no reason a great coach can’t make it all work. There’s no difference between the PNG and Nederland players - Half of them were probably born in the same hospital. This is all the result of deliberate coaching choices.

I think it’s a shame there isn’t a Cajun/Mardi Gras themed team around here. If png ever changes mascots, I’d want us to be the Cajuns with Mardi Gras colors for the uniforms. It would be a party

I understand that in high school football, some years you get a stronger talent pool than other years
The concerns I have the past 2 years are based on the leadership
1. I see a total lack of discipline. In fact I would think that they lead the district in penalties, especially personal fouls
2. The fundamentals are just poor. This shows me that the majority of the coaches are not teaching fundamentals and technique well. Examples- the offense averaged 7 points vs the good teams they played(offensive line was not coached well); the defense gave up an average of 39 points a game(they were slow, did not tackle well, and the secondary was non existent)
3. Way too much whining and complaining to the officials by the coaching staff
In my opinion, if they Keep Barrow, he needs to hire assistant coaches that coach
I know most of the players are trying, however as I have watched each game, probably due to how bad they have been these last 2 years, it just doesn’t appear that they are trying
Finally, I am afraid if they keep the current staff, the results will be the same next year, maybe 5 or 6 wins(according to who will be in the district)

We should be able to dominate the LOS. Rouse runs a 3 man front on defense, they range from 215-250lbs. Offensive line ranges from 225-260. We should be able to lean on them for 4 quarters and wear them down.

I hope those from other schools who come wear their own colors. I want them to let everyone know they’re there. It’s a tradition I’d love to see get going. When Nederland is in the playoffs and png isn’t, I’d love to see their whole side in black, gold, purple, and white. And I’d love a sea of black and gold sitting with us this week.

Exactly, Huntsville is a bad matchup for them. Huntsville’s record isn’t indicative of how good they are. I watched their game vs Lake creek on YouTube last night and they dominated that game but gave it away at the end.

We will be fine at Legacy. We sold it out for the Semi-final game and many Indian fans and other fans from the area sat on the LH side. The lady working concessions told me it was the first time she had saw a side entirely sold out and that they were running out of certain items in the concessions. I am unaware if its true or not. I already have been told that some of my friend's from Nederland are coming and that quite a few will be there. Also a family I met after the Brenham game said to expect some Green and White amongst the Purple and White. So whomever makes it Ty we welcome your support. Come be part of our family if you desire. You will be welcomed with open arms. Also Ty to all the area folks who support us in the playoffs. We are blessed to have you.

PN-g people should be excited that they have somewhere to park.
I wonder how many will bring their golf carts to the game so they can park closer.

PNG’s D is actually slightly better in PPG. With yesterday’s win, we average 14.5 points per game.

I don’t think PNG will have much of a problem here. Rouse did have a good win against Belton, but I don’t think Belton is that great. District 11 should be finishing their season on Friday.

I smell a tough game. Hope the team doesn’t look past Leander to Montgomery LC. Leander seems pretty good. Some size. No gauge on the comparative strength of their schedule, but that’s unreliable analysis most of the time anyway. We need to play our best game so far to get past them. We looked great against Brenham, but we can’t ignore how much Brenham’s mistakes helped us out (short punts, fumbles). We benefitted from short fields all night. This isn’t to take credit from the team for capitalizing on (and sometimes creating) those mistakes. Our defense got an anaconda grip on them from the beginning and never let go. Here’s hoping we do the same next week.

They had a good win vs Belton but not much else really sticks out. Bad losses to Pflugerville and University. If PNG can go out and establish themselves as the more physical team then we should win. Different areas in the state play different types of football. Coach Joseph has transformed this team into a blue collar, punch you in the mouth team. They’re very well coached and the game plans are always simple which allows the kids to play fast. That’s a good recipe for success at this level.
