  1. Coaching and teaching go together! I understand the AD not teaching,  the kids in Jasper have to suffer once again, and the group that will suffer has the potential to be very good!  Too much inconsistancy over the years have begin to really eat away at a very talented group of young people in Jasper ISD.  Over the years they have lost some fine coaches, coaches that really cared ablout the kids in Jasper, but sometimes the fight to change has failed in that city.  There should have been Championships in Jasper Athletics, minus baseball.  I believe this, that whomever comes in next had better be tough, and willing to take on all the crap that come with being in Jasper athletics.  Now the students are having to drive forward, without a leader what a shame! So much promise! Nothing nothing delivered as usual JASPER. :(
  2. tough day in Jasper, no April fools either
  3. Hello its been a while, looking forward to another great basketball season.  up here in palestine tx with Coach Baker hoping for another great season. I think that HF, Silsbee, and HJ will top out in district.
  4. Everyone knows that hiring DC/HC is always going to creat some hard feelings.  A good question for all of those who are upset would be this, Who gives Jasper the best opportunity to have the best football program? The best Football program meaning, Discipline, developing character in the athletes, Football Genius, surrounded by capable assistants, great in community public relations, concerned about the total athletic program as a whole.  The problem with Jasper is simply this: 1. Gloomy outlook before the New coach even hits the door. 2. Mind set, how can Kirbyville, Newton produce successful programs every year, Their athletes love and believe the game they play! once winning is in your blood, its hard to remove. 3. The old glory days of Jasper sports, yea back in the day! times have surely changed, and the generation has as well. alot of these young men who take the fields today are the same fields that their fathers played on. 4. i just bet you their parents weren't up at the fieldhouses back in the day trying to disagree with what the coach was doing, lets face it, until parents start holding their athletes accountable for working hard like they use to, and put down the cell phones, and all the other distractions they care about more then the game the old schoolers loved to play you wont see a change.  5. finally, maybe just maybe, yall will get the picture in Jasper, Patience!!! you want to win, but simply just move out of the way, and let this new Coach do his job!
  5. Whoever gets the job, they are getting some of the best athletes in the state for the next few years. They were very young last season, and you combine that 9th grade group, look out!!! talent has always been there, but theres just something about Jasper, Coaches aren't staying there long at all! thats troubling. One thing i will say though, is congratulations to the new Coach from Carthage!  Jasper fans should be jumping up and down, they have a proven winner!  how can you be upset when this Coach has been a part of a winning program that has 3 peated in football. get behind him, before yall lose more great coaching!!!!!!  ;D
  6. Thanks Coach for the past 4 years, and best of luck on your new Head Coaching job up in Palestine!! :)
  7. i agree with you 100% bleed! the game hasn't changed, but attitudes have. i've watched the coach we have here in Jasper for the past few years, and his battle was different. our kids have changed alot, from work habits to just about everything in life.  and i'm not saying that about the Woodville team, because you can't do what they did without a passion for the game. with all of the camps and opportunities that are out there for parents to make their children better they don't take advantage of it.  when the season begins, if the athlete hasn't spent the proper time preparing for the season, its to late. Its tough being a coach today, simply because your dealing with alot of unskilled ball players. I just bet its not hard to find players hitting the court everyday in the big cities of Houston or Dallas because those athletes know that if they ever stand a chance to be on their high school teams, they had better show up with the skills it takes to be a varsity ballplayer.  Coaches are asked to lift up the world with players who cant even dribble with both hands, or dribble with their heads up looking at the floor.  This is what alot of coaches have to deal with. I think that its always tough when you lose a game that you cant afford to lose. i have alot of respect for coaches, its what my generation was tought to do, they would tell us to jump high, we responded how high, and not a phone call home to mommy and daddy telling that coach was making up do things that was goning to make us better.  players don't have respect for their coaches anymore, because they sit and listen to us parents talk about the coach in front of them. But moms and dads, programs wont change until we get back to respecting a profession that comes with alot of joy and alot of pain. If we do nothing else, just tell the coach thanks sometimes!!!!!!! Thanks Coach Baker for all you do for our athletes.....8)
  8. Yea, girls play is very rough! Girls seem to take things way to personal. I agree that teaching players to play proper is very important. Officiating leads to a lot of the rough play, girls want calls and when they don't get the calls and the opposing team gets the calls there are going to be problems in the girls games. Most of the times I saw some games this past week that pads needed to be worn. I also believe that most of the times, we are seeing a lot of teams playing with girls who are not ready for the varsity level both mentally and physically. It is the coaches responsibility to teach the team proper defensive skills, how to play man, and how to play the game and a not to tackle nor play out of control. I believe that if a team is trained in such a way to hurt other player and play outside of the established rules of the game, then the coach needs to step aside.
  9. I couldn't believe it myself. They were up by 12 at the half. PNG they out played us in the 2nd half.
  10. good win for jasper they played good defense all game. Lady Bobcats good game.
  11. Woodville beat us down, we didn't even show up to play a game 58 - 26 and they were being nice. They're playing at a level thats above others. Good luck Lady Eagles. Don't have any problems giving you your props.
  12. Let me say this, I have much respect for Woodville, and i know that your gonna win this thing this year!!! trust me Jasper isn't disrespecting you when we believe we're coming to win, if we said anything else there wouldn't be any need to show up and play. You can't get to state back to back without being good and having the talent to do it.  This just comes with the territory of having a great team, everyone you play has to bring their A game if they want to have a shot at winning.  I believe everyone in this area will be pulling for yall, and hopefully we will have other representatives from the area on the court in Austin at the end of the season.  It's gonna be a good one tonight, you can bet that!!!!!!!!!
  13. Sometimes you can be cocky!!! stay that way, get ready!!! we're coming. Remember sooner or later all of the trash your talking will catch up with you!!!!! :)
  14. Good win Lady Eagles, looking forward to Tuesday, good win in the tournament!!!  your always going to have hater's :)
