  1. Orangefield Bobcats!!!!
  2. Glad to have Coach Stewart on board. Sounds like he has some experience as an OC. Maybe he can get Coach Reed to consider coming home(he's at Luling) sometime in the future.
  3. I do hope they at least review the end of the game and overtime. Not only was it unethical to put time back on the clock and give the T(because he didn't agree with the other refs call, which he actually said to our coach, and was overheard by several)claiming some of players got on the court when members from their team and fan section were also on the court; but any attempt by the Bobcats in overtime to drive the lane and shoot was met with a foul which he stood 5 feet away and watched never blowing the whistle. I was there and yes we got beat in overtime(with his help), but there should not have been any overtime played. There was no time on the clock when KK shot the 3 and was fouled. She made her foul shots and we won! He had time put back on the clock and made a bogus T call. He took it away from those girls and should never be allowed to ref again! I heard that he was from the chapter around Navasota.
  4. I was driving through Orange today around 4:00, and on an empty lot, close to the bridge before Walmart there was a football game going on. It looked like around 15-16 boys, different ages playing football, chomping at the bit to be a mustang. Don't doubt that our boys can't wait to be a Bobcat either, But it's usually while they are in their rooms playing X-Box 360 or Playstation 3. Just one of those things that make ya go HMMMM :
  5. If so, Dr. Breithaupt stuck it to us again!! Two years ago he saw to it that the number was raised just high enough for his precious Buna Cougars to drop to AA(Set at 415 and Buna had 413) :, and to top that combined two already tough districts to making a Eight Team Power District with 5 teams over 700(3 over 800 at the time), or close to that. You teased us for a year, giving us hope that something would happen to even out the districts, and now we hear it's not going to happen >!!!!! Maybe in two more years we need to pitch a tent in the woods of Gist(Only for the month when they count) , get a P.O. Box in Buna, and really mess up his numbers.

  7. Orangefield left too many runners on base tonight. Had a golden opportunity in the 6th and let it slip through our fingers. Treece pitched a great game tonight, and they played solid defense. Heard a Jr. college scout was there tonight to watch Treece? If that's true, he put on a show for them.
  8. WOW, going by the cutoff numbers for the last redistricting, Orangefield and Kirbyville could combine and still compete in the same district !
  9. Quote from: bcbuc on February 22, 2007, 11:06:30 AM Usually you have to play Little League in the same town you live. So, that marks out Orangefield and WOS when it comes to the early grooming of BC players Quote from: TXBaseball Actually, BCLL consists of Bridge City AND Orangefield kids (and now WOS and LCM as well). The problem in the past is that while the BC kids were loyal to BCLL the OF kids would split between BCLL and Orange Youth League for various reasons. Therefore, your BC kids started playing together young, stayed together and moved up the ladder, where the OF kids stayed separated between two leagues and then watered down by having one or two OF kids on a team in each league. IF OF had been as loyal to their youth baseball program and stuck together in one league, like they have been with their Little Dribblers program, their HS Baseball program could possibly be much stronger. TXBaseball, Why would you take a comment made by someone who was not aware of the new boundaries of the BCLL and turn it into a slap in the face toward the OF kids playing baseball(If they had been loyal to their program). Obviously you haven't been around very long. Orangefield was very loyal to their baseball program when they had one. For many years Orangefield had their own baseball team, as did McLewis, before OF and McLewis combined. The BCYRA is where it all started before the new BCLL was built by many parents from OF as well as BC. This was great because the OF kids could start playing together young, stay together and move up the ladder as you call it. Matter of fact, one group of boys that were lucky enough to experience this went on to win district five consecutive years(86-90) at OF. The OF teams did very well as part of the BCLL, and actually won the league championship in several divisions for several years. Some say that is why the BCLL board decided that they could no longer have a team of their own and had to be split up and be put in the draft with all the BC kids. Granted, at that same time OF had too many kids sign up for one team and not enough for two teams. OF wanted to have two teams and and draft a couple of BC boys to fill each team, but that would have meant a couple of BC boys would have had to play on a predominately OF team, instead, we were told all the OF boys would go into the draft, and that is how we ended up with 1-3 OF kids playing on a team with 10-12 BC kids. Some thought it was unfair for the OF boys to get to have their own team and all the BC boys had to be split up and drafted onto different teams. When that happened some of the OF boys thought they got the shaft as far as playing time during the season and All-stars picks. Some left and went to Orange where they got to play more and participate in All-Stars. Look, I loved being a part of BCLL, and have great memories of not one, but two District Championships. This is not an attack on BCLL in any way, I see both sides to the decisions that were made. BCLL is a great organization, and has provided a top notch ball park where many young men have been able to learn baseball fundamentals. Just wanted TXBaseball to understand that sometimes decisions are made that don't allow kids to stick together. BCLL can't be compared to the OFLD program where all the kids are from Orangefield and do get to start playing together very early, learning how to work together and coming together as a team. Most of the OF boys would love to play together, so if you have any suggestions as to how to make this happen I am sure the young boys coming up now would like to hear them. This is really all beside the point, the real reason BC is so successful is they have, oh I don't know, 60-80 boys in each age group learning the game during the summer, compared to what, 15-20 in each age group from OF. Love ya Jerry, just felt like the few boys we have playing ball were being attacked for not being loyal, and I couldn't let it go. Oh, I can't believe BC is being attacked for doing what they have been taught to do, PLAY BALL, it was a scrimmage where kids should play like they want to play in a real game, because ultimately you play like you practice.
  10. Stang4Life wrote, "Were you at the game?" Not tonight, but I was when Orangefield played at WOS and the refs were not calling anything. Wos was doing a little "Rough-Housing" of thier own that night. I Hope Janae is O. K. and was not seriously injured.
  11. Welcome Coach Bennett!!! I'm not sure congratulations is the right word here, considering that our own Bobcatfan4life picked us to finish last this year on the 21-3A thread. We may not have alot of varsity returners, but what we do have will go to battle for you!!!!
  12. 1. Bridge City 2. Silsbee 3. Jasper 4. Hamshire-Fannett 5. Hardin-Jefferson 6. Kirbyville 7. WO-S 8. Orangefield  Thanks for the support Bobcatfan4Life
  13. The BCLL 12yr. old All-Stars begin their tournament Wed, June 28 at 7:30 in BC. I think there are 6 boys from BC and 6 boys from OF on the team. This is a fun group to watch, and they should do very well in the tournament.
  14. Zach Peevey from Orangefield had a pretty good year. Don't know his stats, but he pitched, played RF, 2nd, and was lead-off batter.
  15. I haven't seen some of the catchers, but I have seen Casey Jackson. To be a Soph., he is amazing. Not only does he do a great job catching one of the best rotations in high school baseball, but his batting average must be through the roof. He has either got a hit or walked every time I've seen him bat.
  16. One inning we had bases loaded with no outs and couldn't get a run in. That hurt
