  1. I was worried about this game for WOS until I found out that Salado runs the slot-t. I’ll favor WOS against a slot-t team, although I no longer believe WOS is the favorite to win it all.
  2. I don’t think Faircloth is a bad coach. He’s a great offensive coach and puts up points. It’s the manner in which he loses, and in many cases wins. A win is always good, but having to score 72 because you give up 69, isn’t a recipe for success. Its clear he wants to win with offense, and Burnett placed way more emphasis on defense when he coached.
  3. I 100% agree with the 1st half, but giving up 69 pts and 66 pts in the playoffs shouldn’t be considered as getting outplayed. It’s being out schemed and out coached as well. Badly. And it’s not just a 2017 problem. It’s been a problem since Faircloth has been there. Maybe not 60 pts every week, but they consistently give up 40 since he’s been there. Little has changed.
  4. IF PNG had a defense and woulda won, they woulda played Fort Bend Marshal, a very beatable team. They have a good enough offense to beat anyone in region 3. And they have the most important piece of the puzzle, a big time QB. Before the playoffs became watered down, and when PNG played Stephenville for the state championship in the Astrodome, they didn’t have a major d1 player on defense. But they played great defense, and could tackle very good.
  5. Congrats on a good season to PNG and the kids. Playing 13 weeks in Texas is no small feat and something to take for granted. Just would like a legitimate change of playing for the ring and not giving up 69 and 66 points in 2 out of 3 playoff games.
  6. Jimmy and Joes!!! Its PNG for Christ’s sake! They didn’t have dominate athletes and playmakers when Matt Burnett was there. PNG has one of the richest football histories in Texas high school football, with a large participation rate! Find 11 football players that are meaner than hell and teach them technique and how to tackle! PNG has won a helleva lot of football games with the type of players they have today. And it’s ok to get beat. You ain’t gonna win every game. But the philosophy of out scoring ppl 72-69 in the playoffs is a joke. If you get beat, get beat with a decent defense!
  7. It may play a part, but a competent DC would allow less than 40 pts a game regardless of talent.
  8. I agree with this. In the overall perspective of things, and taking statewide teams into account, Our offenses are on par with most of the state, but once the golden triangle ventures outside of the area we get exposed. Outside of WOS and Newton, no one else seems to play much defense, or with much physicality.
  9. It’s nearly impossible. PNG has the same issues. It puts insane pressure on the offense to match every score and play a near perfect game.
  10. Crying damn shame really! I’d love to watch PNG on tv playing at Jerry World, with all the pageantry. But they will never get there with the defense they play. And that’s unfortunate with the offensive skill they have, led by a once in a generation QB talent. You wouldn’t think it would be so dang hard to have a decent defense, don’t even have to be elite, when you have a QB like Johnson, but just a decent defense.
  11. If College Station don’t turn it over, they probably will win. They are already up a TD and a possession and PNG can’t stop a dry creek.
  12. Neither of those teams have the athletic ability and speed that Newton has. Both are extremely well coached and disciplined though. Newton is well coached, always has been, but the lack of discipline they play with is bothersome this late in the playoffs.
  13. Scott Suratt at Carthage is possibly a top 5 coach in the state regardless of classification. One of the best defensive coaches in the state, IMO to go along with Gary Joseph and Cornell Thompson. Suratt outcoaches just about everyone, not just the Silsbee staff.
  14. He will always be the second loser behind Memorial and their annual playoff collapses.
  15. Citizens are still paying higher taxes for the last bond, which was poorly mishandled and borderline fraud. How and why could you ask those same people to pay even more taxes again. But I do agree since the crooks from the old board and administration are gone, the money would most likely be in much better hands.
  16. IMO, Orange has way more problems than a confederate memorial. I’d be more worried about fatherless children and grandparents raising grandkids. Along with multiple shooting and armed robberies every week.
  17. No way will BISD taxpayers pass another bond, if it comes down to that. Actually, it wouldn’t surprise me if they did, although after the last fiasco, they should never be trusted again.
  18. 1974, 1998 and in the mid 2000’S, and soon to be back to back (2017-2018). The West Rusk faithful are extremely confident in their team, as they should be, they they will be demoralized Friday night.
  19. I don’t have a problem, nor do I think that Orange has a significant problem like the article states. i don’t play the blame game, and throw pity parties.
  20. Sorry that was your experience in Orange. And I do agree that problems like the article talks about aren’t solely an Orange problem. Beaumont and Port Arthur are much worse IMO. And things will never change for the better if people don’t start with themselves and their own culture, instead of demanding everyone else change.
  21. And to pretend that white people, who supposedly live in West Orange district send their children 15 miles away so they don’t have to go to school with children of color! Really! That’s what the author suggested. You send your children to school in which district you reside. By the way, how many people of color have left WOS district to send their children to LCM? Which according to the state of Texas is a better academic school district.
  22. And bought a million dollar home about a block from LC-M high school!
  23. Cornell has mentioned that Watson will be healthy enough to play. I certainly hope so. If Watson is out, I’m not sure WOS will win.
  24. This Newton team is much better than last years team, but I hope they don’t have one of those moments they had last year against Arp. And I agree, If they win this week, they will be playing in Arlington.
  25. ESPN is more like MSNBC than the ESPN most of us grew up with. No doubt there is racial tension in Orange, it’s all over the south, and it’s not a 1 way street like the liberal media wants you to believe. There’s as much racism in Port Arthur and Beaumont than in Vidor. Earl, and anyone else his color has a greater chance or being robbed or worse in Orange, than in Vidor. This poorly written story makes Orange look much worse than what it is.
