Think of the pressure Coach Joseph is under. If he don’t win it all, he’s only got 6 more years, and he will be fired! Reagan will be watching!!

Holding Liberty Hill to 14 pts, regardless of their running back situation is highly impressive. I figured PNG would score, but not stop LH. For Joseph and staff to change the mindset and culture of the team and program in one year is amazing. Holding a spread team with crazy athletes like FBM one week, and then best slot-T team in the state the next, is hard to do. Great effort by PNG. Any year the last 15 years, Liberty Hill woulda scored over 35 pts.

Very good football game. I didn’t think Carthage would recover from the collapse, and hold Glen Rose off. Glen Rose had a very good team and a lot of heart. Carthage showed why they are champions. Took it on the chin, was on the ropes, and came out swinging. Carthage scored on a QB throwback. About a 70 yd TD to go up 35-14, and they called it back, for a blindside block. 3 plays later they fumbled, and GR scored 21 unanswered. If Carthage gets some Cats healthy, I don’t see Wimberley playing with them.

I think they could compete 5AD2. But then fumbling 3 times 2nd half they couldn’t beat lots of teams.

Game is on NFHs

I’m very impressed with Glen Rose. Didn’t think Carthage would be beat. Carthage is throwing the ball up and down the field, and can’t keep from fumbling. They can’t run the ball, or stop the run, which is never good.

3 plays and a touchdown. 22 yd run. 21 pts unanswered.
-
And 14 yds on a QB run. This kid is a gamer. Tough to tackle. Carthage is gassed. Getting blown off the ball, and can’t tackle.
-
Carthage has a 25 yd completion, and fumbled the damn football. Back to back fumbles. Carthage giving this game away. Literally.
-
Carthage better hope they hold on to the ball and sustain a drive, or they will get beat. Glen Rose can’t be stopped offensively.
-
Carthage just turned it over again after a nice catch and run. Glen Rose on the Carthage 32.
-
End of 3rd 28-21 Glen Rose with all the momentum. Carthage defense is gassed. Could end up like the Timpson/Refugio game.
-
Carthage fumbled after they had a good drive going. Glen Rose scores on a 5 yd run. 28-21 with :39 left in the 3rd.
-
Carthage returns 2nd half kickoff. 28-14 Let’s see if they made some defensive adjustment to this zone read.
-
Their QB is very good. Kinda reminds me of the China Spring kid, but a better passer. Not as good a runner though. Carthage seems to be pretty banged up. Hatton and a few others are not playing.
-
Carthage 80 yd TD pass 21-14 1:23 left in the half
-
Tied up at 14 with 2:21 left in the half.

Have you seen that kid? I’ll comfortably go out on a limb and say he’s 415. He’s a huge young man. And when you are that big, you can’t move. He pretty much just leans and grabs.

I was at that game as well. Ol Mustang Stadium, was packed! Went back n forth. I remember PNG scored on a fake field goal, I believe, with Keith Waguespack, their all-American kicker. Who did WOS lose to the 1st round? CE King? PNG beat Crosby the 1st round, then beat a very talented Jasper team the 2nd round.

How well can Westlake handle North Shore’s speed? Westlake is pretty big up front, and good. Will they be able to run the ball straight at North Shore and keep them off the field? This is a matchup I woulda loved to have seen last year, and IMO, is the game of the week this week. I think Westlake squeaks this one out.

SOC is immensely talented. Their QB is suspect, and all those huge kids on the offensive line are horrible. But when you are that big, all you have to do is lean on kids, and that’s about all they do. Pretty lazy bunch up front for SOC.
