  1. Hardin-Jefferson/Hamshire-Fannett-The last two years it has had not only the atmosphere of a rivalry, the kids call it the Cheek Bowl, but playoff implications. Looking forward to it!
  2. In 1999 I saw a kid from Warren hit two mammoth shots, Josh Nichols. Both were tape measure flights including the stewardess serving drinks, an in-flight movie, and a meal. The first was at Anahuac. The ball cleared the light pole, I mean directly over it by 15-20 feet, at the 350 mark. It then cleared the little road that runs behind the field going to the softball field and the liittle league park and landed next to two little trees in the pasture across the road. The next came at Jasper in the playoffs later that year. This one cleared the softball field that sets behind Jasper's park on the fly. Some kids went to look for it but they never found it. It was fun to watch him hit.
  3. Aaron Treece, Josh Rodgers, & Taylor Monse from HJ-all three have thrown well this year. Monse is 3-0 as a varsity starter with one no decision after playing most of the year on JV. Rodgers threw two no-hitters on JV this year, one a perfect game, and Treece has been a consistant starter all season.
  4. Good luck to Coach Landry and all the Longhorns. We are rooting for you guys.
  5. Tyeler Benson from HJ. He hits in the two hole between Kevin Roebuck anf Nathan Ricossa. He quietly has done an outstanding job. He leads the team in batting average(.485), stolen bases(19), has the least amount of fielding an throwing errors(0), cleaning out the bus, putting up equipment and sacrifice bunts. The last three are the most impressive. He is a pleasure to coach. Thanks Simps
  6. sorry for the mistake, Ricossa has 2 homeruns, both in district. i hit the wrong key with my nub.
  7. HJ K.Roebuck-1 T. Roebuck-1 Hill-1 Baker-2 Ricossa-29Both in District play) Helveston-3
  8. Thanks Kerry! THe kids have really responded in district play. We are still not sure of who we will play in the 1st round. Every time I think I have it figured out I receive more conflicting information.
  9. When was this game played?
  10. Lane Helveston of HJ DH hitting .379 with 3 HR's and 17 RBI's has to be included in the list of area Soph's. He had a slow start this year but is coming on strong when it matters.
  11. Congratulations to Nathan Ricossa for winning Player Of The Week. He continued his hot streak against BC Tuesday night. 2-3 with a double and and a run and he got hit by a pitch. He had four put outs including satarting a 4-6-3 double play.
  12. Nathan Ricossa continues to swing the bat well for HJ 2-4 with a double and an RBI vs. Bridge City in a losing effort. Hitting .494 for District and .479 for the year. Tyeler Benson also went 2-4 vs. Bridge City with a run scored.
  13. Nathan Ricossa was 1-3 with an RBI and he scored a run. He also played error free in the field with four put outs.
  14. I'd like to nominate Tyeler Benson of Hardin-Jefferson for Player of the week for last week. Tyeler is the Right fielder and bats #2 in the lineup. He is currently hitting .444 with 13 stolen bases. Last week in two district games Tyeler went 4-7 with 2 walks, 2 stolen bases, and a sacrifice bunt.
  15. Our prayers at HJ go out to all the athletes, students, and faculty at Westbrook.
