It looked like to me the refs were giving the Gamble team a few more breaks than Franchize. The worst call at the end of the game went Franchize way at a very timely moment. With under 2 minutes left and Franchize down by 5, they try a lob pass to Henson that goes out of bounds. Gambles ball clearly but one of the refs mistakenly calls a tip ball and gives it back to Franchize and they make the best of it by hitting a three and now they were only two points down. Does a bad call late in the game make a difference?

Do you have any idea when they will have a coach on the job?

It seems as though rules are rules. Should not matter if one of your brothers make the call. Really should not make a difference. All we want is a rule clarification. Either you know the correct call or you don't. All the details are present on the film, no interpretation needed. Most of the eye witnesses agree with the film account. A no call here makes me believe they were wrong on at least part of the situation.

I have been reading this since last night and it has been very entertaining discussion. I am more of a basketball person. I just wanted to add UMP1 that I am glad our basketball refs always get the calls right the first time and never make any mistakes. If they did there would be a lot of fans yelling at them from the stands. And I might add a bad call could change the out come of a close game, which never happens in basketball, so baseball people, I have no way of "feeling your pain" over a controversial call.

Mr. Vitale, I understand what you are saying and agree with most of it. I will get back to this later if I can find a college coach to answer some of my questions. The sooner you find a qualified coach the better off the Seahawks will be.

Lamar State, I was not bashing Coach Bryson. If I were, no one here would have any doubt and it would all be the truth just like the 0 recruiting statement. Yes it was luck that the talent level this past season was as well as it was because Coach Bryson had nothing to do with bringing any of the players that were any good to the team. And yes you are dragging your feet on hiring a new coach. Also there is a fine line between recruiting, what you are permitted to do and what you can't. Seahawks do nothing, so I assume they are in full compliance.

I am under the impression that recruiting never takes off. There are periods during the year that you are able to sign a player but the letter writing and contact through fliers goes on all year long. P.A. Lamar is already behind and will have a tough time catching up if they could hire a coach tomorrow. Coach Bryson has done 0 recruiting for the school. I would love it if Coach Roc were able to get involved in some way with the recruiting.

If the Seahawks hope to compete their first year in Division 1, I would highly suggest they hire a coach as soon as possible. Not only for new recruiting but to keep tabs on any players from last years team they may want to keep.

What are they waiting for? They have had 4 years to work on getting a new coach.

I think it is great that Decarlos Frank can grow 2" in just a couple of weeks. By the time he is a senior he should be close to 8' tall. And I might add, calling him 6' would be generous.

Do you suppose they may go after someone with a little more experience? The Seahawks will be jumping into a tough conference.

Good recruiters are gifted. Billy Clyde is one of the best.

Very interesting UNLV. How much credit to you put on the coach that recruits the players for the team and the performance of the players that is coached by the same person that recruited them?

I would be the last person to suggest to Coach Roc who he should go after. But Wildcatter, not very many of the guys that are on the LU roster from out of state were thought good enough to play for their local schools either.

Ozen will have a good group coming back, Central is always tough but beatable if you can make less mistakes against their press. Nederland will have the same core of players they have had the last two years and Vidor will return a couple of seasoned players as well. Lumberton will do better than most expect and PNG will have to find replacements for Miller and Thompson. LCM graduated a lot of players but Coach Harley finds a way to compete every year. I do not know much about Livingston, but do not believe they are on the same level as Dayton. With four teams being able to go to the playoffs this next season I am going with Ozen at the top with Nederland, Vidor and Central as the next three teams in no particular order. This is all very early speculation and a lot could change between now and then. But if I had to choose, these are my best bet for the top 4 this next season. Also congrats to the players on the all district list, looks good to me.

Coach Boutte may not like the AAU summer league, but a lot of college coaches do. Most college coaches will strongly suggest a good summer program. The big tournaments will attract big time coaches from all over the country. In my opinion Boutte is wrong on this one.

Ozen can play under pressure. I have seen it time and time again. In a tight game it is the difference.Congrats to the Ozen Panthers. As for Diamond-J, Game Over, Lazeek, CATMAN, Poppabear Jr, and especially you BLUEDOVE3, what were you guys thinking?

I really don't know why I even bother responding to your post. But I still think you are right on about Ozen and Lamar C. Way too much credit.

I guess I had Lamar on my mind. I am not saying Lamar cannot beat Ozen, my take is that it will be unlikely.

Mr. Vitale, I was refering to your prediction on the LCM- Dayton game. And I did agree with you about the freethrows. And If you cannot recognize speed and ball control as a factor in this game then I may be giving you way to much credit. And while I am at it please do not bring up your Lumberton-Vidor theory again, I am still not over that one. And one more thing, the Brazosport Exporters missed a lot of freethrows also.

Mr. Vitale, when I think you are right, I will agree with you. When you are wrong, you really do not like to admit it. And I will agree with you about the layoff and the freethrows. I would like to add that they (Ozen)were a little sluggish getting back on defense letting them (Braz)get easy points to close to the basket which Ozen is usually fairly good at. But Ozen has not played a team this quick in a while. Chalk this up as a learning experience, not to let happen with Lamar C. And by the way, you guys watch toooo much tv.

Coop, Why ask Mr. Vitale a basketball question like that? He still thinks LCM will beat Dayton.
