Central At Vidor Predictions Friday?
Trad replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
What's my deal? I had to take issue with Diamond-J because I did not believe he was taking you seriously, I mean us. The "Lumberton Theory" just did not sound right to me. After all, that is your theory, not Lumberton's. Diamond-J was trying to steal the credit from you and give it all to Lumberton. I believe your name should be included in your theory, after all, it's your theory. Vidor did not try to steal all the credit for your theory, why should Lumberton receive any credit? The "Dick Theory" just sounds right and gives you the credit that you deserve. No need to thank me. -

Most posters on this thread seem to agree with DickVitale and myself, Central should take this one. My only concern is that if Central does not get 20 easy points off turnovers like they had in the first game, they may lose their advantage. But I am sure that will not be the case. By the way Diamond-J I will take issue with something you stated. Since Vidor was included in with DickVitale's "theory" which we stand by, it cannot be known as the "Lumberton Theory" even though it was on a Lumberton thread. Please give DickVitale the credit and respect he deserves and refer to this as the "Dick Theory" from now on. Thank you very much. -

Now? Nothing. Should be a good game. Good luck to both teams. -

Dick you may not remember what you said but the Lumberton people still do. I am only agreeing to what you yourself have said. Now are we going to increase our point spread over the hapless Pirates or not? Study hall is another exellent idea. You are truely a genius. I am on my way as we speak. -

DickVitale You are a really hard on people that agree with you. But I would like to visit with you for just a minute. Would it be possible to increase our point spread over the coachless non athletic Pirates of Vidor. Surely you have not forgoten the Lumberton thread already? The way I see this is the Jags beat them by 7 earlier in the season and the Jags have improved alot since then. But you only increased the point spread by an additional 3 points. I don't get it Dick. Are we really looking at a blowout here and we are just trying to let the Pirates off easy so they will at least show up? -

DickVitale you are right once again. Vidor has no coach and no players. (See "What is wrong with Lumberton thread")They are all in Nederland. Once Coach English left Vidor cannot win any games, especially against Nederland. Coach English is the only reason they won any games anyway. Memo to Vidor: NO NEED TO SHOW UP, DICK AND TRAD KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE, THREE DAYS IN ADVANCE. Golly gee Mr. Kent, I almost feel like a basketball genius like Dick. -
*Nederland vs. PN-G.64-44 Nederland Wins/Comments*

A coach can only do so much with what he has to work with. I have seen Coach Abel compete with the best in the district with fewer players he could work with. No one said any thing about Coach English not being a good coach after their loss with Vidor. And by the way basketballislife, Nederland does not have a playoff spot in this district yet. They have as good a shot as anyone but there are several other teams playing well now also. Nederland knows this as well as anyone. -

Vidor was not suppose to beat LCM, Vidor was not suppose to beat Nederland and Vidor was not suppose to beat Dayton. I guess Vidor is not suppose to beat Central either. Did Vidor not get the message? -
It took Coach English 5 years before he was able to put together a playoff team. Coach Robertson is doing a fine job with the players he has to work with. The Pirates should be able to give most in this district a good game but will continue to fall short in most games if small adjustments are not made. I know most of the Williamson's from Vidor and they will continue to work on their game. The freshman will get better. The Williamson who's number is 13 is more than likely the only one with an ego problem.

If you understood from my post that I thought Silsbee was in the22-4A district then I may should have written more plain. Vidor playes Silsbee every year, most of the time twice. They (Silsbee) always field a very good team. Not only will Vidor do well against Silsbee, they will match up well with most other teams in their district (22-4A). The last sentence was a reference to those who may think Vidor will be fielding a sub-par team and finishing at the lower end of the district. I do not think this will be the case. Very few coaches in this district will take Vidor lightly. I also believe Nederland will have a good season, better than last year. Do not ask me what place each will end up, I do not have a clue.
-
Vidor will do well against Silsbee and most other teams in the district. They are not over-powering but steady, fairly solid with some basketball savy players returning with varsity experience. I believe Silsbee has lost several key players last season, Vidor lost one. Silsbee is always tough but rebuilding, I say Vidor by 10.

Yes Coach English is still there. And he seems to be pleased with his chances this season.

I do agree that Ozen will win district, but I am looking forward to seeing them play this year. Last year they started slow and finished very strong. They will be playing without Kris Richard(s) who was their floor leader and more than anyone else, other than Coach Boutte, most responsible for taking them as far as the state games. They have very talented young guns yet untested as leaders of a possible run for the state title. Joseph Jacoby will be loaded for bear having what I see as a great senior year. I look for Ozen to have a great year but I do not believe they are unbeatable. But to do that.........you would have to disrupt their game plan and have a better one that will actually work. Not easy, but possible.

I need bail. Just an observation here. I for one do not take anything you say seriously or to heart. All of us enjoy a little humor from time to time. But if your intent is to "bring a bigger fan base" to this board your services may be more in demand on the HoopInsider board. I just did a quick check when I read your post and the HoopInsider board looks like a ghost board. It's a great board but does not seem to attract a lot of interest for some reason. If you and your fans could help a friend I'm sure it would be welcomed.

HJ is nothing without donahoe

You will have to ask Ryan why he would have made the choices he made. I do believe that you are way off base calling someone you do not know an idiot on second or third hand information. On the other hand I believe you are making real progress since you did say he was generous, kind and caring. That part I will agree with you on. -

I cannot let this one slide. His AAU coach and his brother that paid for all the travel, uniforms, shoes, entry fees, hotel cost and food for 20-30 kids a summer is far from what some of you may think. The time and money put into a program for kids like Ryan Donahoe is far more than most realize. And what has his coach and brother received for their time and money. Nothing in return. They just enjoy helping the kids out that want a chance at playing at the next level and put the kids into a position to improve their talents during the summer and possibly get looked at by coaches that would not have seen them play otherwise. Any player being looked at by several schools receives advice from a lot of people. What advice he decides to take becomes the players decision, not the coaches, not the parents, friends or even other college coaches. -

I have seen him play several times and had a hard time believing he was not playing somewhere. For kids like Ryan no matter where they start out they will usually end up okay. -

Speaking of Donahoe. If I understand correctly, he did not receive an invitation to play ball at a higher level. If I am wrong and he is playing or on a team this season could someone tell me which team that would be. I am not trying to put him down but a friend of mine from HJ told me of the three scholarships received for last years team, his was not one of them. I told him I thought he was mistaken, so I would like to know if he is playing ball somewhere. -
My list for 22-4A is very short. 1. Ozen Everything else in this district will be who wants it the most. It will be very very tight. Ozen is the only team I see that will be able to control the boards on each end on the court and have the quickness to control the tempo of the game. Summer league games are great for the kids, but I would not judge how a team will perform during the season by their summer league record.
-
Unless a player is a major factor on his team, most of the time I do not even get their names. It would be nice, but I know it is not going to happen, but it would be nice to see a program before each varsity game with the kids name and number. A lot of kids on some of your lists I may have seen play but cannot put a name with a body.

Have Tyler, Paul, Daniel or Jared ever been on the same court at the same time? Pre-season list are good for topics on message boards, but I would not take any of them very seriously. They are all very subjective, depending where you live and how familar or not familar you are with any certain list. In most cases there would not even be two people on the same team that would rank all their players in the same order of each other. There are not many people that have the time to see many teams play in all levels. I do not know how many ball players there are in this area but it would be several hundred.

OFballer once again we are in agreement about Larence Williams. If Coach English does not turn the program around at Nederland like most hope he does the parents will turn cancerous on him as they did Williams. And I will check into this football thing. I believe little of what I read on here and only half of what I actually see.
-
OFballer, I do agree with you, but I will still have to talk to Lance about coaching football. You may be better aware of his situation at Vidor a little more than I am. If he is envolved he is not the head coach as Abel is at PNG. I thought Lance told me he took over English's old schedule and English did not coach any 9th grade football. One last word about getting rid of a good coach for change. Go talk to Lumberton.
-
Good luck.

Well it sounds like to me you could just be that person. When are you going to start?
