  1. good post GUY...if the Rebs see where they need work and address it, they'll be fine. Coach Will will have em tuned up in a week or two...
  2. IMO, too early to tell. The Rebs looked a little rough but it is still early and that practice was VERY EARLY, in the morning. So, I'll hold my major comments for a week are two. This Saturdays scrimmage with West Sabine will tell more.
  3. Sharp eye AJ...He came aboard a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if this midnight madness deal was explained to him when he interviewed for the job. ;D ;D
  4. Great explanation...Also, running the same EVERY TIME. My meaning, some very good receivers will look only at the DBack for the block on run plays but will look into the backfield as they leave the line on pass plays. A half-a scouting report will see that and the DBack will know when its a pass and be able the "jump" the route. So, good hands, not afraid of the middle and being able to hide your intentions are my pick. Hands Route Soft Spoken
  5. Thanks curtis...you know how rumors are. OK, hang in there.
  6. Dang...haven't been on here in a few days...looks like everything went south!! Hey CURTIS, I heard a rumor that Coach Frankiln is leaving and going to Buna. Have you heard that, and if so, you would be loosing Chase Franklin too. What's up?
  7. You never know...I don't see SP making a huge turnaround but with their situation with Port Aurthur ISD, they may pick up a couple decent players that can make an impact. Good Luck. I can't imagine how difficult it was for SP and HI to keep pluggin after two big hits in a three year span, my blue and gold hats off to you.
  8. You're spot on joe...
  9. Best post I've seen...and only your 2nd. :D
  10. Bottom line, in my opinion, HD is always tough(no doubt), WH usually has several good athletes to make a difference in a game (last year seemed to be a 1 man band, not sure why) and Coach Will at Evadale has continued to get large numbers out. 50 kids in a 1A is huge, and I really believe that will be the difference. The Rebs have several kids coming back that can play and were loaded in the underclasses last year. It will be some doing to oust the Rebs from the #1 seat this year, BUT, the Rebs can't just expect it to be given to em. If they play tough...they'll be tough!
  11. I too like a "go get-em attitude" as that will be required to keep the title in Evadale. 83 is correct on his numbers and of those 7, it was a scant 5 that started on offense and defense combined as Potts did not always start (although he started some). Nichols and the district MVP Crain, were the starting RB's. Having said that, I do hope this team builds on the momentum from last years success and brings home another crown. Not quite right 83 and Mo44 the truth is that the first time for Evadale to ever beat HD on any level was at there JV game 2 years ago when the now Jr were Fresh. And out of that bunch 10 will be starters on this years V . Never said that the 10 were on V last year just on the first team to beat HD ;D ;D Just thought you would do more research Big MO some of us watch all of the games not just Var. ;D ;D And beating HD on any level is good enuff for me. Don't get all pissy now ;D we're on the same team...but you've got to admit, understanding that would have been luck at best. You are correct in you're statement about the jv win a couple years ago, I was there, but dang, I haven't missed half a dozen games since I graduated in '82. I'll be there to watch your kid and I'll be there when he's gone...And I've seen more jv and jr high games at Evadale than , well, MOST folks in town. Again, I'm with you, I was just making what I thought was a mild corrective statement. We got plenty to counter with 55 :) And yes, beating HD on any level kinda makes you feel fuzzy inside.

  13. PNG...State Champs Runner-UP 1953 1954 1955 1977 1975 1999 WOS...State Champs Runner-Up 1986 1988 1987 2000 Jasper... Runner-Up 2004
  14. Should be a good one...Honets in a "down to the wire" game.
  15. Burkeville has 2 state championships and played in 3 state championship games...
  16. EC in a good one...good luck to both.
  17. I can't speak for anyone else...I was just curious. Not disputing or arguing anything...just asking. You can't look at "who beat who by how much" in a current year to determine how you're teams match up, there's too many variables.
  18. I agree, I thought we gave em all they wanted at OF and they beat us a little worse at our place the next year. I'll see what I can come up with...maybe he's right but I don't think so. That score is correct and yes Evadale did give Orangefield all they could handle for a half at Orangefield. I was at the game. I admired the way Evadale played but they got tired in the second half. Those scores are the same in the Setxsports archives also. Hull Daisetta and Orangefield were in the same district back in the 60's and 70's . Hull Daisetta had the upper hand. Overall record is 11-6-3 in favor of Hull Daisetta. From 84 on up Orangefield had the upper hand going 3-0-1. I remember a kid from HD who was a man child. His name was Parnell Lykes I believe. You're spot on...Lykes was a truck, a fast truck. I played against him in '81, I think, maybe '80. Hull had alot of talent but he was a one-man-band. He went on to play of Lamar. His younger brother Arnell wasn't bad either.

  20. I'm certainly not the HD guru(whatever), but I believe they have a common problem with Evadale being hit hard by graduation. They have just lost their starting QB to Orangefield and that can't be great news. BUT, I also believe HD will be ready to play football when the time comes. Anyone overlooking HD would be making a mistake. Just calling it the way I see it. I do think the Rebs will get em again though...JMO. Does anyone know who they are looking at for the QB position?
  21. IMO...best coach in the district. Coach C will figure out what he has and make it work. Don't be hattin, JMO.
  22. actually looking at Orangefields football history of every game they have ever played on KOGT you did not play them once in the 90's but you did play them in 2002 and 2003 witch was a 12-0 loss in 02 and a 36-0 loss in 03 just helping with the facts. But I do agree that HD has some great athletes and some that Orangefield would love to have. Just curious, when did Evadale last ply OF? It seems like maybe 2000 and 2001, or maybe 98/99, the scores you have for HD and OF also seem to be about what the scores were between Evadale and OF...the game at OF was less than two TD's and the next year at Evadale it was OF pretty convincingly. Just curious...
  23. I think you're spot on! Huc may be a good or even a great player at OF, we'll have to wait and see. I don't remember the kid last year at all, but I'm sure he can play. 55 gets a little steamy in his HD posts, but he just loves his team...his posts actually helped Evadale last year as they were good locker room material...no way were the Rebs gonna let 55 and his oversized predictions be right. Anyway, back to the subject, agree with you on this one, Huc will be used and may be the starter, let's wait and see if he's the best player at OF.
  24. Man, we got off the subject...but it's a good talk. IMO, I really believe the top 3 to 4 players from the playoff 1A schools could play for larger schools. Having said that, do I think top 1A teams could beat the top 3A teams, NO. The reason being the larger schools have more numbers to put quality players in all 11 spots where the resources for the 1A teams is limited. I've watched a ton of football from 1A to 5A and the good players are good players. The difference is in a 5A their ALL good and it falls off a little with each classification. I have no idea how good Huc will be, I've never seen the kid play, but the big kid from HD last year (Cook) could have played for anyone in SE Texas.
