  1. I am not being ugly but I am asking what makes you thing WH is going that good this year when you lost your main off. player and most of your scoring. Just asking? Even if the def. is that good how are you going to score? I am a big Evadale backer but don't over look High Island this year. They played Evadale a good game last year, and I don't think they lost much. And hopefully they wont to deal with any storms this year. So they can play on Friday night instead of Saturday day games You hit on a good point, by the time the HI/Evadale game was played last year it was late in the season and it took Evadale nearly a half to get into playing Saturday-DAY. HI played pretty good D for 2 1/2 quarters then the Rebs just out maned them. As for the order this year, I still say Evadale/ HD/ WH, maybe HI. The Gilmore kid is surely a good player from Hull but in all honesty, no one from Hull hurt Evadale last year nor did the district MVP from WH. If the numbers come out again for the Rebs, they'll be a handful, but I do believe Hull wants the title back really bad. A few more weeks and we'll see things much more clearly. Good luck to all...should be a dog fight in the top 4 spots.
  2. 55, how reliable is your source? If he stays in HD that will surely be in the cats favor being that they would not have to spend time bringing someone up to speed.
  3. Titles are won and lost in the off season, in the weight room and conditioning.
  4. I'm just making a prediction...when the dust settles on this thing, I believe we'll see that it doesn't matter if the parent is employed by a district or not. If the home address for the student is outside the district, he/she is a transfer and all transfer rules apply. again, JMO. We have several kids going to school where I live with parents being employed by the district. Every year we have to approve a transfer list and those kids with employed parents are on the list to be approved with all other transfers. I guess someone will figure it out one way or another soon enough, interesting topic though.
  5. What about Franklin, will he be back in purple and yellow this year?
  6. Not 100% sure of this, but if a senior student transfers he/she is not eligible to play varsity level sports. Being a senior, they are also not eligible to play JV sports. It's my understanding that if someone transfers (not moving to the district) they must sit out of varsity level one year. If they move into a district, there's a "sit out period" but it's for a couple weeks, then they can play varsity level, unless they move during the summer. In that case, there is no "sit out period". I THINK!!! Bottom line, IMO, the kid better have an OF address to play this year.
  7. I know they lost their QB/WR/DB...all the same guy! He was a one-man-band! It's a load just loosing him, someone else could probably give some good numbers.
  8. Just curious, was there no intention of Stewart taking over at OF? He was already there and that would have been an easy move, plus Stewart could surely handle the position. I know Mike is headed for Kountze, just wondering if that was ever a possability.
  9. I'm certainly not a football philospher, and I did see em play one game last year in which they looked good, for a half, but I really think they've got too much ground to make up to get in this year. I may be wrong, again what do I know. Good Luck to the Bears anyway.
  10. Well... ...I don't know about all that but look at their numbers this year and look at em again in two years and there should be an increase in numbers, maybe industry will bring em in, I don't know. BUT, I believe Roy will have the fellas passing in class and doing the right things, he's pretty good for the kids and will be an asset for Bville. They've been so bad the last few years it may take a year or two but they'll be competitive before long. JMO
  11. I can buy that joeb...cant wait for two-a-days to start so we can get a look at the new team, really can't wait till the first "midnight madness" full pad workout. Hope we get 45 or so out again this year a bring another title to The Battle Field.
  12. Getting more like yeller all the time...long winded ;D...predictions... Evadale HD WH HI Chester Not sure how many HI lost to graduation, if they've got anything coming back, they may be in the hunt. Dont think Chester has enough kids to make big gains this year, we'll soon see.
  13. Didn't realize Evadale was that bad this year. Didn't ya'll go undefeated in district? This guy sounds like ya'll unloaded some dead weight!?? The Rebels gave us all we wanted the last two years and if your time keeper hadn't stopped the clock with ONE second left in the half with our team at the 5 yard line it would have been 7 to 7 at he half this year. Evadale would have had momentum going in at the half and had out rushed us two to one at that point and who knows. We did score on the next play and that deflated Evadale. I've got some good buds from Evadale and ya'll are loosing some quality guys, don't forget who got you here! Didn't this team beat Hull for the first time in school history on the varsity level? YES! I believe Evadale will be fine again this year but I don't remember enough speed for 4 wideouts, hey, just a casual observation. Hope ya'll don't focus too much on individuals this year cause this last years team showed the 1A district what TEAM was all about. GO PIRATES!!! No were did I say anything Like we had dead weight on last years team. But If you would have watched any of the last two years playoff teams you could have seen that both teams def. put a over loaded D line to make Evadale throw to win and they weren't put together to play that way. I just think that this years team will be a little more balanced with the passing game being more than the run. And you are right if not for that 1 second left on the clock it would have been a different game , and that man will not be back allowed in the press box . You don't need that much speed to get 5 yards up field, and with the size that the Redels will have this year , small D backs will have there hands full when they have to play man up by spreading the D with 4 wideouts . Not many 1A schools will have 3 6ft D backs and Evadale will be able to send 2 receivers out 6'2" and 1 at 6'5" I believe Evadale will be in good shape this year but there will be several unproven players on the field. I do think coach Will will bring them along and have them ready when district rolls around, it really depends on how the new guys (and returning ones) perceive thenselves. I see no superstars (still early) just like last year and if everyone does his part, theyll be ok. You can read into your lines that we've turning the chapter and are headed for good times...heck, I had a blast last year. 31 point average aint bad for a bad offense.(just reading between your lines). I will say that I believe a major foundation was laid for Rebel Football last year and now its those "tall" receivers job to build on that, and when they leave, hopefully they've kept that drive, the want to, the expectation to win alive and it'll be up the next group to continue. Something we've never had at Evadale is a winning tradition in football, and winning district one year isn't a tradition, but with teamwork and a community behind em, it has hopefully started already. I have nothing bad or negative to say about ANY team ever to step foot on Rebel field, I've missed a half dozen games since I last played in 1982 catching passes from our very own coach Will, and every team is different and as a coach he changes almost yearly to go with what he's got. Hopefully when this group moves on some guy wont come on here and say "glad that's over , now we can pound em again like we used to". If a fella is true blue and gold, you are thankful to the guys that went 2 and 8 just like the ones that won the district title and you deffend em and build em always. Great job to the District Champs Evadale Rebels, you'll be missed, with what you've taught us, we plan on getting another one this year...and starting a tradition...GO REBELS!!!
  14. I assume it is a 3 man crew. I thought I heard Gary say in the second game that the first base ump moved over to second to make a call. Usually it's a 3 man crew until you reach the regional finals and then state when it's 3A and below. Only 5A and 4A get those 4 man crews. I am not certain though. The Evadale - Maud series this weekend had 4 man crews and thats 1A. That was also Regional Semi-Finals.
  15. Well...It happens to all but one team, and it happened to the Rebs. Final Game 2..Maud 11, Evadale..6. Great game in which Evadale could have rolled over early but made a game of it and played tough. Hats off to Maud, good team and well coached. I believe the final hits were 14 Maud, 11 Evadale, once again errors hurt the Rebs. Great bunch of guys in Blue and Gold this year!!! Evadale is loosing only two seniors, I hesitate to say only two since these are quality guys in Landis and Royal, but only two seniors from this team and have only three Jrs. With that being said, the Evadale Rebels will play some baseball again next year, you can hang your hat on that!!! Great job coach Williams...you know how to get it all out of em!!! Hold your heads up guys, it's been a blast and you represented yourself and our town well!
  16. They WILL get better...may not see big gains this year but you better keep an eye to the woods in Newton County, Harper knows how to get em out to play. They will no doubt see an increase in transfers from Newton and maybe Jasper (obviously not starters from either of those schools), but the number of kids will increase. He's good for morale and good for the kids. Give him some time, but not much!!
  17. 5 1/2 innings of nip-n-tuck baseball...Hits were even at 4 each going into the bottom of the 6th with the Rebels having 3 errors and the Cardinals none. Both pitchers were doing well and the score was 3-2 Maud on top, and that's when as they say, "the wheels came off"! When the dust settled the Cardinals put 9 runs on the board in the bottom of the 6th and the error total for the Rebels was at 7. If your a Reb fan, both are too high!!! jdb is correct, the game was actually very close till the bottom of the 6th (1 run game) and extra innings didn't seem out of the question. Maud took care of their business and made no back breaking mistakes; Evadale let this one get away very similar to the last series opener with Douglas. Now go get the next two. Good game and nice class to Maud. Get your heads cleared and get ready to play your game Rebs...reduce those errors and get me home late Saturday!!!

  19. Well I can go for that...sounds kinda friendly. If I run across you I'll buy you a Powerade, well, better make that a Gatorade...
  20. I'm bout "mauded" out...I know Evadale should be scared, but I don't think the Evadale Rebels care who they play right now even if its the team that just had some "intensity against the #1 team in the state". (subtle scare tactic...don't buy in to Rebs, just play). Beat the stuffin out of maud and lets mess up graduation weekend!!! And yes, in the spirit of good sportsmanship...welcome to the board Mr M. ;D ;D ps I didn't hit you with negative karma...I never blame a guy for supporting his team...
  21. You are right, number of pitches is the thing. It will be interesting to see how many he throws this weekend against Maud. One thing you can hang your hat on...Coach Will knows his pitchers!! Being an X pitcher himself, he watches them closely and he's very careful with his guys on the mound and I kid you not, I believe he would loose the State Championship game rather than injure any of his kids!! JMO
  22. Two great games...if you're a Rebel fan. Rebs took game two in 5 innings with good ball control pitching by Sophomore Dustin Potts, and stingy defense by the Rebel fielders. Bats came alive with T. Tucker and Chris Harvey both bouncing one off the fence and the Rebels continued with timely hits and playing the small ball well. Game three seemed to be going exactly as game two but the Rebs missed by one run ending this one in 5 innings. The Indians caught a little momentum and put together a 5 run 6th making it 11 to 7, Evadale. Potts also started this game and made it to the 6th when he ran out of gas. (that's when the Indians put up a 5 run inning). Garrett Landis came in and threw 2 great innings to close it out...11-7. Great work Evadale...stay focused...who knows, another marble monument would look nice on the campus!!!
  23. What a ball game!!! Came down to last half of last inning with two outs, Rebels lead by 1 and Douglas had 2 on. With an Indian hit two scored and that as they say..."is the ball game"! Way too many errors on the Reb defense...this is a series that Evadale can win but they must play better in the field. Landis threw all 7 innings for Evadale so they still have enough pitching to play and win two games today...
