Barbers Hill is much better than any of us was giving them credit for. They will make the playoffs.

whining about officials is justified when one team is penalized 155 yards and the other 7. I am sorry even the oakland raiders don't get penalized that much. It is a long standing joke that you can't get into the end zone in midcounty. Look at Friday, did not see many flags but one came flying in when Barbers Hill was standing in the End Zone. And now since they changed the NCAA rules (no ref can officiated a high school one night and a college night the next) It's just going to get worse by officials..
Hmmm PNG only had 7 yards of penalties?? heck I remember get back to back 12 men in the huddle penalities. So get your facts together.
Not to mention the flag he is referring to in the end zone, which was pass interference against PNG. Naturally the penalty was declined because the BH receiver caught the ball scoring the TD anyway. How about two illegal blocks on punt return team(PNG) calling back two big returns by Dunbar. Penalties against PNG is what killed us. And they were all good calls, we played sloppy. This dude doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. He's just bumping his gums.

We made a lot of mistakes that are correctable. Not worried about that. The biggest hurdle will be the play up front from the line. They will need to improve. The O line look much improved in the fourth qtr. against BH. Just hope the build on that.

I'm not worried about the first game in the slightest bit. In 1999 we looked TERRIBLE in the first game which ended up being a come from behind to squeak past Kelley by three points. That year ended up being a very successful season. We will be fine, just trust.
-
Good lord, to judge a team by the first game is ridiculous. In 1999 the year PNG went to state we squeaked by Kelley in the first game by a slim 3 points. Trust me , we were glad to get that one. A lot of Nederland fans rode that at work, only beating Kelley by three. Later that season we beat Ned 30 - 8 and went all the way to state. I wouldn't get too excited about the first few games.Nederland will be fine, they played a good team.
-
Our line will have to improve on both sides of the ball if we want a chance to beat Crosby. Doty looked real good. They(BH) put a lot ofpressure on him and he handled it well. DeRon is for real, he is a good receiver. We had a hard time tackling BH's QB, he is a good athlete, with a little experience he will be real good. He missed a couple wide open receivers.
As far as christmas present giveaways sometimes they are takeaways. Our secondary played a real good game. Some of the interceptions were very athletic plays on the part of the secondary.
We made some very sloppy penalties at very bad times. Several of them caused some big plays to be called back. Overall I believe the BH fans will agree that there was good moments and bad moments for both teams. But it was the first game. I am still very happy with our team, most of the problems I saw were small and very correctable.1-0 i'll take it.

Hey PNG folks, Is there any handycapped parking for the visitors side & if so how early do I need to get there to get a spot. I have some elderly people that would like to go to the game if possible.
There is a small parking lot at the field house that Coach Faircloth has said would be for handicap and media. This is on the visitors side to the south end of the stadium off Park street. I would arrive early though.

I am not a fan of four teams going to the playoffs or even three for that matter. Most years it lets in some questionable playoff worthy teams. But, this year I believe the circumstances are much different in 20-4A. This year more than one good team will stay home. This season should be interesting, it may come down to who can stay healthy.

PN-G will play 5A El Paso Hanks in week 0 Next year in the Alamo Dome on a Saturday!!!
El Paso Hanks, our drive doesn't sound too bad compared to theirs.Thats a long, lonely ride from EP to SA.But the 80 MPH speed limit west of Kerrville helps a little.

Sounds fun, guess I better get my room on the Riverwalk.
-
Pretty much like everyone else said. We have a nice facility with not so good parking. The street behind visitors side is Park Street and the streets crossing it are Ave.C,D,E. I would park on one of these streets since you will be entering on visitors side. The earlier you get there the closer you will get to the visitors entrance off Park Street. The few small parking lots at the school are closer to the Home entrance and fill up quick. I usually park on ave.C. Its a little walk but easier when leaving.

I starting to think that every team in this district has a chance to make the playoffs. Does anyone agree with me?
Yes I agree 100%. I wouldn't count ANYONE out.

Gregory Portland has a good program. Bruce Bush (PNG Defensive end coach during the Etheridge era) built their program before he built another first class program at San Marcos. Should be fun.
-
BOOHOOHOO! I wish my team could get invited.Comical!
-
Ouch! Before he's even coached in a real game he's already being compared to one of the best coach ever in the state of Texas. I still say it's a little bizarre. But only time will tell.
faircloth is the next D.etheridge, png rolls 55- 14.
I don't know about Etheridge being one of the best in the state ever. He did teach the kids to block and tackle the right way, and was an excellent motivator. But, what he did best was sorround himself with good assistants...Bruce Bush, Greg Davis, Tim Nunez, Ken Clearman etc. Once some of these guys moved on to bigger and better things the Indians success fell off(around 1980). I believe Danny Malone was a better coach than Etheridge.
I really like what I'm seeing with Coach Faircloth. This guy has something special and will be very successful. No one can legitimately sit here and say he is the best ever here at this point. But, I believe there is a good chance we will be able to say that after a chance to prove it.

POP...POP POP POP.......POP...........POP P-POP P-POPPOPPOP......POP.....................GET IT READY
Let me break it down from what will be the perspective of a Barbers Hill player. Lets say his name is "Willy".
So Willy steps off the bus and immediately his eyes are fixed on the enormous home stands and towering press box of "The Reservation". He leans over to his buddy and says, "That is freaking awesome. There is no way they can fill all those seats?" His friend replies, "No way bro, it's only a predistrict game." Their focus quickly shifts to the massive scoreboard and jumbotron. Willy can only think of one word to describe it, “WOWâ€. Little does he know that in just a few short hours he will witness one of the most electric high school football atmospheres on the planet.
Willy and the Eagles begin there pregame warm-ups, occasionally glancing up at the PN-G Faithful, eager to see just how full the stands will be. He hears something in the distance, BOMbombombom BOMbombombom BOMbombombom. Laissez les Bon Temps Roulez, the Indian Band and Indianettes begin marching into the stadium.
The Eagles finish up and head into the locker room, emerging a short time later. Willy looks up to see PN-G has packed the house 10,000 strong. His team slowly makes there way to the run through. The PN-G crowd goes wild as they see the Indian locker room doors open. BOMbombombom BOMbombombom BOMbombombom
BH Coach
"Ok , everyone off the bus. Where's Willy?
Was this picture taken at Indian Stadium or at Nederland Little League?

I just flipped a coin for those four as well as West Hardin/ Warren.
-
Looking forward to what should be a good game.

I am very pleased at our progress. This district will really be tough this year. Good chance some teams that are regulars in the playoffs could be left out. I believe in most years this Indian team would get in the playoffs very easily, but this year the district is wide open. Who knows?

LCM appears to be for real. They played WOS a tougher game than Nederland did. 20-4A is going to be wild. I wouldn't count anyone out.
