The defense has done well at getting our opponents to 3rd and long but then they give the receivers a big cushion an give up the 1st down. They’ve done it all year an it’s helped them lose games. Never understood why we don’t safety blitz at all. I’d take my chances on the long pass most quarterbacks at the high school level don’t pick up on the blitz quick enough. They’ve definitely dug themselves a hole. They have to win out just to have a chance at a playoff game.

The fireworks will be done 9 November in honor of Veterans Day. Due to the shooting at Santa Fe the school board decided to move it. As for as the turf I was told from a pretty credible source. So we will see.

The fire board is always done over the grass area. The fireworks will continue, it’s done over our AG field. As far as everything done on the field in the dark with the band there are other ways to produce light besides fire thanks to Thomas Edison. But it is pretty neat watching the twirlers twirl fire.

Well truth be told the majority of the money for Vidor’s new turf field is coming from private donors. The taxpayers will have to pay very little.

Great game from both teams last night! Hated that the Pirates ended up on the losing end for the 2nd week in a row but I do believe they left it all on the field. I’d have to agree. Vidors offense usually puts up enough points points to win but I think one of the biggest problems has been getting off the field on 3rd and very long. We get off the field on 3rd and long then we get to eat up more clock and possibly put up some more points on the board. Another thing I’ve noticed all the years that I’ve watched them is when there on offense is they hike the ball with sometimes 15 to 20 seconds still on the play clock. I personally would run the play clock down to at least 5 seconds on every play. It’s a ball control offense so control the ball as long as you can. Shorten the game. Hopefully we can get enough stops so our offense can do there thing. Either way I know the kids always play hard for Matthews an never quit. That’s what makes watching them so enjoyable. May this is the week they put 4 solid quarters together. Go Pirates!!
