If you reply without providing direct evidence (via links) or that I'm not a "forward thinker" or that my logic is why LU football died, it'll verify that you are just creating rumors to support your agenda.
I see that you have ignored my earlier question. I take it then, that you are going with another member's post that the only evidence of "steam building" for Lamar to the MWC is from a couple of MWC conference forum members??? So if I go and post in a Big XII forum that the conference needs to pursue Lamar will you then say that there are "rumors" of Lamar to the Big XII? Is that your source--a fan forum? Nothing from the LU administration? Nothing from the MWC conference office? Southland office? Please, tell me you have something more to back up your claims . . .
Hey Ravine, I think Happy is starting a petition drive to move LU to DIII in athletics. I guess you will be the first signature after Happy on the petititon! ;) by the way this is not evidence in any way, but some of the posters on the fan board's are actually people who have inside access to conversations and information. They post this information. Some of it is just discussion information that does not come to fruition, but is actually real discussion none the less.

Change to Lumberton schedule
NorthoftheBorder replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Due to Lumberton's field house construction, Lumberton's game with Barbers Hill on Sept. 7 will now be at Barbers Hill. This will give Lumberton just 4 home games, 6 away. Barbers Hill now has 6 home games. Next year's game between these two teams will be in Lumberton. Lumberton will host their first home game the following week on Sept. 14 against Silsbee, providing the field house will be finished.
Who's the contractor on this job? -
Enrollment numbers for SETX 5A-3A Districts
NorthoftheBorder replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads

Your right about the traffic, they need to do something different or that could be one of the things new families might look at in their decisions to move to Lumberton. They do have a lot of open areas for new sub-divisions to be built, but once again, how do you handle the increased traffic from doing so. I personally don't see the growth potential in school enrollment...IMO. They have been bordering dropping down to 3A for a while now. Might be a better fit for their program if they do.
Not sure where you are from (which Dogs are you?) but you need to be over here to get the real feel of what's happening in Lumberton - growth wise, that is. You are right about the traffic situation but you are wrong about them dropping to 3A level (even though, I agree, they would be more competitive there). People are STILL moving into Lumberton at a relentless rate. Some people in Silsbee (me being one) wish Lumberton would become so big that TX DOT would build an overpass over the entire stretch of US 96 that we traverse to get south, which now has seven traffic lights. Yeah, that's fun.
If Lumberton was a suburb of Houston, DFW, Austin or San Antonio with the growth they have had the last 15 years, TXDOT would be tripping all over themselves to improve the traffic situation, but since it is in "good ole SE Texas", they could give a rats butt to do much to improve it. But them politician's will come to SE Texas and make all them promises to get them votes and then run back to Austin and pretend this area doesn't exist until the next election!!! -
Tiger will never be back, he has no groupie chicks behind him. Being one of the best he still has a chance to catch or surpass Nicklaus. Just not a forgone conclusion anymore
I hope y'all dont take this the wrong way, but I'm not in favor of Lamar going after every player that gets booted from a D-1 university. Nothing against the players; I hope they all get their act together and maybe they deserve a second chance. I just don't like Lamar being the dog that waits for crumbs to fall from the table. I would rather see Lamar assemble a first rate coaching staff, recruit the best players they can (focusing on local talent), then developing these players into a winning football team. Maybe I'm being too Pollyanna here...
And I share your sentiment and no doubt think that LU should proceed generally in the direction you laid out. However, a transfer of this magnitude doesn't fall LU's direction very often in any sport. If the kid has taken care of his business and the coaches feel he is definately on the right track, you have to give the kid a chance if he wants to pursue his collegiate eligibility and degree at Lamar. He could very well with his talent move the football program no telling how many steps forward that would take so much longer to get there. He can be a huge recruiting tool that helps attract other FBS caliber athletes that makes LU a top ten FCS program way ahead of a normal timeline.

Still think that a failure by LU to move up could have a negative impact on the non football sports in that the big boys will try to eliminate the smaller guys from getting a piece of the pie (money from the March Madness tournament).
They will make the SLC and similar conferences auto-play-in games.
I beg to differ. I think they will eliminate the lower tier conferences (those that play FCS football) from being in the NCAA Basketball tournament. No play in games or anything else that would give a red cent to "smaller" school conferences. Can no longer be in the "fraternity"!!!
WOW, that is extreme. The big name conferences would have to leave the NCAA to do such.
Not necessarily. They will tier it like the football. The NCAA already has tiers. They will present this as the smaller schools/conferences "water down" the tournament. I assume you understand how rich poeple operate. One of their codes is to work to keep their "club" restricted from the lower classes. If you don't have money, you can't get in the game (no matter what color. Money separates more often and more exlusively than color or ethnicity). The UT's, ND's, Alabama's, Ohio State's et al... are no different from the Rockafella's or Bill Gates and Warrren Buffet. They operate just the same. With money comes power.
As much as I want to disagree with your post... I can't. Money is what separates the winning schools from the others, be it in football, basketball, academics or anything else. Money doesn't guarantee success, but the successful programs all have money...I guess that is one reason I pull for the underdogs, Cinderella teams and Lamar!
The cinderalla's of the future in the NCAA Basketball tournament will be the 7th place team coming out of a major conference or maybe a Sun Belt team or lower FBS football conference school. There will be no FCS football conference basketball teams in the tournament in the future. How long it takes for this to happen I don't know. There is too much money generated by the tournament for the big guys to not try to limit who gets to share it.

If the kid gets his act together and his head on straight, he could be a great player for Lamar.

Lumberton Raider offense
NorthoftheBorder replied to raidernaytion's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The answer is easier than the current high school OC. Some levels of STJFL field as many as three teams per age group from Lumberton. Most of the other schools that are represented in Lumberton's district field 2 or three teams as well. Since Lumberton has only one Junior High, you condense two or three teams worth of talent into one team, while Port Neches AND Groves field multiple teams... Nederland fields multiple teams, too. Each of those teams continues to develop multiple layers of talent, and eventually merge to form a high school unit from the best kids from as many as four 8th grade teams. The kids from Lumberton are at a disadvantage because they don't get to develop in practice and games, up to the point that a lot of good kids give up over lack of involvement before they ever develop into their full potential. There really isn't a good solution for that problem. Lots of empty seats on the L-train these days, btw....
Real good analysis!!! This happened with my sons class. There were 65+ kids playing in Junior High and they had an A & B team. 45+ kids were on the freshman team. I think 20 seniors played football out of that class. -
I don't have a clue about anything going on in Liberty, but I am not surprised to see on this board that Fitzwater is leaving as I know for a fact that he was looking seriously at transferring to Houston Second Baptist this spring. Obviously this is another one of those issues where the parents think that the kid can be the next great thing at one of the high profile colleges and they are willing to make whatever family sacrifices they deem necessary to try to make it happen. Sometimes it works for people and sometimes it doesn't. If the kid is really as good as they think he is, in today's scouting/recruiting environment, if he doesn't have any baggage, they would have found him in Liberty. But that is a moot point in that it is obvious, whether right or wrong, the parents didn't feel that way and no doubt in my mind there has to be some tension between the parent and the coaching staff.

Hey Dove.......Bad News!
NorthoftheBorder replied to The Cook's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
What a sad world we live in. Pedophiles seek out youth organizations from sports to church groups/camps to give themselves access to kids and potential victims. No organization is immune from an imposter showing up wanting to help for this reason. Look at the work and cost associated with trying to keep them away. -
A Dove family exhibition
I had the privilege of watching an unbelievable shooting display by the Dove brothers today while sitting with their father, who admitted to me that they inherited his talent. No doubt that they did. Impressive, not to mention intimidating. Even though those young men are being raised by a hard core liberal, they very obviously have been brought up and developed in a conservative basketball atmosphere. I am making that statement because it is too painful for their father to admit it.
Watching the boys play had to be fun! Sitting with their father had to be very painful!!! ;D -

I haven't seen him on the board in a real long time. I do not go to every topic and thread, mostly Lamar, HS Football and the Political Viewpoints but unless he has changed his name on here I haven't seen him post. I thought he was a founder and owner.
Also safety/wideout J'Marcus Rhodes, and Linebacker Daniel Woodson are expected to commit to SMU thursday, That makes 5 WO-S defenders with D-1 offers, been awhile since WO-S has had that type of star power on defense, and all three of these guys will be 3 year starters this year.. I cant wait for some mustang football!!!! Travon Blanchard-Rover (Baylor, TCU,Texas Tech, SMU,Kansas,North Texas, Kstate, New Mexico) J'marcus Rhodes-Safety/wideout (SMU, SFA, Mcneese) Daniel Woodson-Linebacker (SMU) Colin Janice-Rover (Mcneese, North Texas) Jerquis beasley-Defensive tackle (North texas, Mcneese)
Lamar didn't offer any of these kids?
