Lamar should have a minimum of 150 yards rushing and not give up a sack in this game.
150?  They better get a minimum of 300!!!!
 2. It appears that we have a pretty deep roster.  With all those out we still are in pretty good shape IMHO.  Just going to take the coaching staff to pull this team together so that they gel as a team.
 3. They had Chik-fil-a sandwiches last year.  They were really good.  If they had some left over at the end of the game you could buy one for a buck.
 4. I think Kyle will have a real solid carreer at LU, and with Campbell, Oden and all the other O-line talent LU has, he will be even more effective.  Hope he continues to grow and gets a real look in the NFL!
 5. LU is going to have a hard time holding this one back.  Woodard needs to play the reserves long and take it easy.  I absolutely hate blowouts, on the giving and the receiving ends.  I don't think this game will help much.
 6.
Check out my Jasper vs Lumberton prediction.
I saw it "oh wise one"!  You remind me of the old Johnny Carson "Swami" schtick!  LOL!!!  :(
I don't hold any grudges from that game, as a matter of fact as an educator I respected the thrill of victory from the Lumberton kids in that game.  THEY FINALLY GOT OVER THE HUMP!  I think you would have to put the Lumberton win over LaMarque above the Dayton win, but when the Raiders beat the Broncos, that has to be on the Mount Rushmore of wins for the Raiders.  Just from what I have seen in the JV and freshmen games over the last few years, the Raiders just don't have the talent they had that year.  That being said, GOOD LUCK this year to the Raiders.
Your right, the LaMarque win was above the Dayton win as far as ranking big wins in the Lumberton's meager history.  The Dayton win had more of a rivalry feel to the victory since Dayton & Lumberton have been in and out of Districts together over the last 35+ years.  One thing is for sure, Dayton's players reacted with infinately more class after that game than did the LaMarque players.  It was quite satisfying to see after the "in your face" attitude that the players gave the Lumberton fans at the start of the LM game.

 9. 58SHW, everybody knows where you stand on this.  I respect your right to have an opinion and to express it.  I believe it is a risk, how much I don't have a clue, but still a risk to take him.  Like Coachacola, I am trusting Woodard & co on the decision they made and on their ability to help this young man make a change in his life.  I hope he does for his sake, whether he turns out to be a star player or not.  By the tone of your emails, it appears you have had very close personal experience with drinking and driving and the tragic effects that it can have.  I have experienced the same thing about 16 years ago with some very close personal friends.  It is a painful and tragic thing to go through.  I just don't see where Oden could be classified as a thug because of this, it doesn't classify as thug behavior.  Irresponsible and reckkless yes.  I hope young Mr. Oden matures while here at Lamar and in Beaumont.

I wish the spot he takes could go to someone else more responsible. Lamar seems to be attracting these types.
Yes yes and the SFA program is only reserved for alter boys and choir boys!
I don't think SFA is relevent to the discussion. You brought it up though, not me. Since you did,  do some research. J.C. Harper has recently purged about a dozen players from the team. Of course, some just left due to lack of playing time and other personal reasons, but some were indeed purged due to conduct. Harper is about a "no nonsense" guy as you will find.
It is relevant if you are an SFA alum/supporter and you come and throw rocks at another school.  If what you say is true, then kudo's to JC Harper.  I am all about running a program that is both competitive and is about character development.  That said, my intellect tells me that you almost definately support one or more teams from the high school to the pro level that has it's fair share of thugs.  Tell me where you can go in today's sports world and not support a team that doesn't have a player or two with a checkered past?
 11.
I fully agree. I wish the spot he takes could go to someone else more responsible. Lamar seems to be attracting these types.
Yes yes and the SFA program is only reserved for alter boys and choir boys!  Not condoning in any fashion Oden's poor judgement, and only time will tell if he has made the appropriate change in his life and choices.  I am hoping he has.  I was on point questioning this decision.  I hope it works out and is positive for Oden, and of course LU.
 12.
I still don't think Tiger has the same "mental" edge he had before, and from just looking at him play, his body is not there to allow the consistency it takes to win a tournament over 4 rounds.  He can put 2 maybe 3 rounds of good golf in, but 4 probably not.  He may win again on tour, but his domintation is OVER.  NO WAY does he win 4 more majors.
That's a hard thing to gauge P4E.  He certainly doesn't look anything like the player he was 8-10 yrs ago, but then again he is only human and not a machine so it was inevitable for him to come down off of the mountain just with age and time, let alone his personal problems.  Tiger had an edge in the physcological dept as much as he was a talented player, but with the "great fall from grace" of his image, it will be hard for him to get that back.  I don't want to bet against him, and I feel like he for sure can "catch lightning in a bottle" again for a major or 2, but I think his chance to break Jack's major record is definately extremely harder than it was 3 years ago.
 13.
A few of these runs were designed zone read plays that the QB kept. Other rushes were just scrambling away from the pass rush. Best run was JJ on a keeper on a zone read play that gained 12 yards. He actually took it right off the right tackle. I know this is college and it's much faster, but I witnessed JJ take that particular play to the house on several occasions in high school, with his last one being a 75 yarder in the playoffs against Navasota. Split the two safeties like they were stuck in concrete. :o I really believe that once Jeremy gets comfortable with the offense and gains the confidence with the experience, he will be the starting QB by mid season. He is just more gifted than the other two and can make plays that I believe the other two cannot make. We will see.
You are right.  we will see.  This is the one position on the team where the "most gifted" doesn't always mean the most successsful.
 14.
My news driectors nephew was the high scorer for Alberta with 18 pts, 9 reb
Sounds like a player.  Can he transfer to LU?
 15.

This is now common in that kids transfer high schools like kids transfer colleges.  I thought that there was some UIL rules about this but it probably doesn't matter much anymore.  Hard to enforce.  The future could see HS kids being offered under the table money from a wealthy metro district booster club to transfer.  Hey, it is not out of the realm of possibility in the world we live in.  JMHO!
I totally understand what you are saying. It's happening everywhere. But, in this particular case, athletics was the last reason for this transfer and I'll leave it at that.
This wasn't a statement that there was any particular impropriety concerning this transfer just a statement that this is happening all the time now.  Transfers were rare 30 years ago.  Another sign of the change in our culture.
 16.
Been happening in The Woodlands, La Marque, and South Lake for Years my friend. The only thing is there isn't any proof.  Lol
Your probably right.  I don't know about the schools you mentioned, but it probably has been happening.  You may have some first hand knowledge.  I wouldn't have any, just a hunch.

 18. With the exception of Longview, all metro area schools of DFW (most in Texas) Houson, San Antonio & Austin.  Don't think for a very long time you will see any different in Texas.  Thats where the overwheming majority of the money is now in Texas and that is where the great programs will be.
 19.
let him be someone elses trouble
If we can put up with you puddin we can put up with Oden!   ;D  Just a joke!
 20.
He is staying in Nac.  Last I heard he was unsure if he was even going to be playing ball anywhere.
Who would want to stay in Nac-a-nowhere?
 21. Why next week?  Is that Monday or Friday? The sooner the better?
 22. What we need is more D'line help.  Get JJ to influence a D'line transfer!  The game will be exiciting but the losses will still pile up if we are losing 52-41 all the time.  :D
 23. Here we go again!!!  At least give us a position and the conference the kid would be coming from.
 24. If they stay FCS, but if a FBS invite comes, then expansion is absolutely necessary.
 25. Truth is over the last 25 years the balance of power in Texas HS football has shifted to the major metro areas of Houston, DFW, Austin and San Antonio especially for 4A/5A but also you see some suburban 3A's as well.  I don't know the reason's for sure, but Texas is becoming more urban and less rural and the money in the state is definately in the Metro's so, like everything else, you can follow the money trail.  Lake Travis would be a prime example.  Austin suburb that is extremely wealthy.  They make sure they have the best coaches and facilities.  Katy and Southlake Carrol are two more examples.
