It is less expensive to do home games but then it effects attendance. I know for a fact Coach Woodard did not want the SFA game televised. I heard the man say so myself.
Back in the 80's and early 90's I had a connection at Channel 6 who was involved with the televising of LU basketball games.  I know for a fact that LU did not dictate which games would be televised.  It was negotiated between the Lamar and the station.  Think about it, it is much cheaper for a local tv station to televise a game at Provost Umphrey than it is to televise a game out of town.  You do the math!
 2. The overhaul of Provost Umphrey and the addition of "the Butch" has added numerous playoff games to our area.  When can anyone remember having 2nd round playoff games played in our area?
 3.
This is a no brainer. Lamar should be able to dominate them, and maybe even score their first rushing TD.
If they don't score a rushing td then it will be embarrassing.  They need to win this game by 4+ tds and score 2 rushing td's to launch into next season.  On a bright spot, we do have some of the better receivers in the SLC, and maybe we have a blossoming QB who might be really good in the years to come.  After going to see the McNeese game, I am really confused about the status of Andre Bevil and his future.  Maybe someone can clue me in.  I think his problem is now confidence and that he still has problems reading defenses.
Who cares if they win the game!!!!!!
. Actually I do because the truth is you will not win championships if you can't run the ball.  I do not know of one example in Pro, College or HS who did not run the ball effectively and win a championship.  Nice win and much needed, but they have got to establish a running game.  Maybe they will make it a priority next week against arguably the weakest opponent of the season.  But it is a very concerning statistic that speaks volumes about where this team is.  And so you don't misunderstand me, I'm talking about championships in the future.  The offensive philosophy will have to include a running game and they are going to have to get O-linemen who can move people and open up holes.
Inidanapolis colts, New England Patriots, Southlake Carrol, Stephenville, UH & Hawaii (have won conference championships with virtually no running), SFA, Warren Moon Houston Oilers teams won passing only (no super bowl but they still were extremely successful).  Dolphins and Redskins with the Smurfs.  Granted most teams that win Super Bowls and National Championships can run too but I'll be happy winning a conference championship first.
See you agree with me.  Champions, those who win the title can run the ball.  Even SLC ran the ball effectively or Nate Newtons son would not have received a scholarship to UT.  Maybe they pass 2/3 or 3/4 or the time but when a good defense doesn't have to worry about the ground game they can load up and stop the pass.  It doesn't take a whole lot to understand this.

 6.
Woodard must want to put together the Golden Triangle All-Star team.
I'm talking all sports.  Football signing is not till February so the list was for boys & girls baskeball, baseball, volleyball etc.
 7.

Just saw a list of all Houston area kids (boys & girls) from all sports who have signed in the November signing period so far.  Lamar has not signed one kid from Houston for any sport so far.  Saw lots of other SLC schools with Houston area signings.  Would think that LU would work the Houston area hard.  Don't get it why they aren't?
Screw houston.  Although I seriously doubt that we don’t recruit houston.
The reality check is that Houston is more than 10 times the size of the Golden Triangle.  Its a numbers game.  They are just going to have more talent in all sports.  Because it is out of town by 1 1/2 hrs it is like going off to school but yet close enough for parents to follow their kids.  It should be the second priority in recruiting behind the GT for every sport.
 8.
Heard last night that LU signed a 6'9 kid from Humble Christian Life!!!!  That is Houston area last time I checked!!!!!
It is not listed in the Chronicle yet.
 9.
20-4A fans, how good is Livingston's Offense? Just curious what the opinion of some people who have actually seen them play might be.
As a reference point Lumberton beat Livingston 30-28.  Take what you want from that!  My prediction is Dayton big, probably by the score of your average scores in your 19-4A district games as per P4E, 50-7.

 11. Don't think this type of game helps other than getting some some playing time for everybody.  A few of these games is ok, but Roc has way to many this year.  Trying to pad record.  Wont help down the stretch of the conference run.  But I've been wrong before, like buying into the hype about recruits!  Lets see if the team gets better as the season goes.  The football team didn''t.  Wow, I'm really sounding negative.  I really want the the teams to do great!
And Dayton is on a 7 game winning streak while the Brook is coming off of a loss.  The voters (WHICH I CHOSE) know plenty about football. And you wonder why you are getting smited?
Lots of people know football.  Doesn't mean they aren't biased.  We are all biased.

 14. At this point it doesn't really matter what the WAC does from LU's point of view.  They are not in the WAC.  What matters is the immediate future of the SLC.  And it just got weaker.
 15.
Someone finally gets it!  For all of his knowledge of offensive schemes and plays, Todd Dodge never understood the urgency in getting quality offensive and especially defensive linemen.  Loaded up the scholarships with wide receivers.  *sigh*
If your O-line is great, your grandma can be an all american RB.  They make RB's always look better.  Great O-lines are a function of your O-line coach and your strength and conditioning coach.  It also nice to have a little "nasty" bred in them.
 16. The only one I'm not sure about is NED/Crosby.  No doubt Ned is improving, just don't know about Crosby at this point of the year.
 17.
Going to get a paper so I can read the rest of the article but IMO this is the key to a success team this season as they (newcomers) can all shoot the rock.
Let's hope they can do it in a real game against a good opponent.  Our prior years top recruits couldn't shoot the rock in real game situations.

 19. Only 5 home games.  Need to be in a position to have 6 home games a season.

This poll is so biased I would be ashamed if I was a voter.
what would u base your rankings on then??
On head to head matchups and level of competition.  For instance Kirbyville did beat 4A competition and anialated its 3A competition, it deserves to be in the top 3, but after that the 3A teams drop off with not much success at all against 4A competition (BC beat Vidor).  Dayton, after losing 3 straight to 5A schools, then runs rough shod over its 4A comp and deserves to be top 4, maybe top 3.  I think the top 4 in order are WB, Dayton , Kville, and Central (Centrals pasting by PNG is troublesome.   I am assuming they rested some key players, if they didn't don't think they will go far in the playoffs).  After that its just who your favorite teams are and thats where it get biased although I think PA Mem & WOS are the next teams in line.
 21. I believe that Kirbyville is the best area team in their classification by far but I don't believe they beat West Brook.  I think they give Central and Dayton all they want and maybe could beat one or both of those teams, probably a 50% chance of beating Central and 40% chance of beating Dayton.  Just MHO!
 22. Ok, IMHO the hallmark of good coaching is that the team gets better as the season goes on under ordinary circumstances.  If we go 0-11 but get better as the season progresses then I think that is the evidence of good coaching instead of going 3-8 maybe 4-7 but digressing as the season goes on.  I don't have the warm fuzzy that we are getting better with 2 games left.  I'll let you guys who are more knowledgable than I debate my proposition.
 23. I was at the first game at McNeese and I am just baffled at how the cards have digressed.  I don't buy the "game film" explanation for how far we have gone backwards in our performance.  If this team would have played at the level they played in Lake Charles, 6 wins should have been a lock with 7 a good possibillty IMHO.  I think from a fan perspective, it would have been better to have lost that game big if we were going to perform as poorly the rest of the season than to raise expectations to a phenomenal level that the McNeese game did only to witness the poor play the rest of the season.  Even you SHSU fans were right on board with the LU fans thinking that this would be a breakout season for the Cards, openly expressing concern that LU would win the game against the Bearkats.  I surely don't have the answer to the many questions that we all have.  I'm hoping that Woodard & Co can get things sorted out with the schemes and personell over the next two seasons.
 24. This poll is so biased I would be ashamed if I was a voter.
 25. The Sun Belt probably prefers La Tech, and they may just take it since their preference CUSA probably will not come about.
